Torque Drift

Torque Drift

I’ve played this game since the release on mobile, and have put 70 hours into the PC version so far and I love it.

Sure it has it’s bugs, but remember it’s still being ported over from mobile and is still in early access. In my opinion, its one of the best/intricate drifting games on the market! Updates and patches are fairly often, and the dev team seem super responsive to problems and ideas that players have about the game.

The crates are a feature where in alot of games are a pay to win can still make you feel like youre getting robbed due to rarely getting anything good.

Reviewing this game is kinda hard and reading the reviews most players have submitted is a little bit painful.

  • What is my take on this game?

Most users have rated it P2W /Pay to win/ and I can’t qualify it as such a game. If you build a car from stock you will get a better car that money can buy pretty fast and by fast I mean you get cash and billions /the paid currency/ very easily. They are several levels of parts that when averaged also set the level of your car / I call them common, rare, epic, legendary and custom/. “Pay to win” cars are always “Epic” with the exception of 2 cars. You can already see why the game in my eyes at least is not “P2W”. Those paid for with real money cars can also not be setup to you preference as it goes to height, camber, caster and so on. What you paid for that’s all you get.

This game takes me back to Indy 500 for the Atari 2600. It was so simple, yet whenever there’s competition, there’s interest. The trick is to run the race as efficiently as you can. It requires some experience, some experimentation, and some mental toughness to do it well.

I haven’t played this long, but I love that I can spend 10-15 minutes on this when I’m bored. Depending on how tough the competition is, I might spend more, or less. It’s perfect for people who don’t have a lot of time throughout the day to play a game.

Fun keyboard racer

Lots of car variations and unlimited player made tracks.

You start out with a bit of coin and two cars. You can use your coins to purchase other cars and/or variations of each one. There are also several tire choices for the variable track conditions to spend your coin on.

You earn more coins buy simpy turning laps, but you earn more when setting fast laps. So if you are within a certain percentage of the top time for the day, you are rewarded with coin. This is all sorted and tracked via the easy to use, in-game leader board. That said, earning coin is a bit of a grind at the beginning…not overbearing, but it pays to make smart purchases…you don’t want to be short on cash when in need of some rain tires. :)

California Games II

California Games II

The original California Games – first released in 1987 – is considered by many to be one of the best games from the late 8-bit era. Whether it was the original release on the Commodore 64, the slightly-cut-down version that came with the Atari Lynx, or a port from any one of around a dozen other platforms, the unique sun-drenched sports tend to conjure up fond memories from all who played them.

It was inevitable that such a highly-regarded game would be afforded a sequel, and Developer Epyx did not disappoint. By the time the game came out in 1990, 16-bit home computers had become commonplace, meaning that the Amiga, Atari ST and SNES were among the launch platforms.

Now available officially on Steam for the first time, you too can enjoy the five radical and awesome events:

  • Hang-gliding

  • Jet-skiing

  • Snowboarding

  • Bodyboarding

  • Skateboarding

Just like the first game of the series, California Games II is easy to play but hard to master, with plenty of playground arguments about which event was the best.

So get ready to soar like a boss, dust some ice and kick some sweet ollies with this radical and bodacious sequel to one of the most popular games of all time!

From the original manual

_Yo! Dudes and dudettes!

Welcome back to California – land of Fun and Games! Get ready for the ultimate sequel: California Games II. It’s time for “fun in the sun” as you play five totally new events.

First, you’ll try Hang Gliding at San Francisco’s Fort Funston, overlooking the Pacific Ocean, where the most daring hang gliders “hang out”. Next, you’ll take a helicopter ride to the top of Mt. Epyx for a wildly out-of-control Snowboarding run… all the way back down to the beach. Then you’ll take your surfjet out into Monterey Bay for the Santa Cruz Jet Surfing Competition. After that, you’ll compete in the Santa Cruz Bodyboarding Invitational. Finally, you’ll face the challenge of outlaw Skateboarding down the most aggro-cultural California Aqueduct.

Objectives

California Games II is a game for one to eight players. The object of the game is to score well in every event. Points are awarded for each event based upon your ranking among the other competitors. The player with the most points at the end of a competition earns the title of Supreme Dude. Practice to improve your skills in each event, compete with your family and friends, and soon you’ll be the Supreme Dude.

In competition if you break the record for an event, California Games II records your name and the new high score on the Most Excellent Dudes screen._

Overall the concept was pretty cool! But the handling on the car was kinda difficult to get used to. As well as it being a relatively short game, could complete in under half an hour or so. Also the music was extremely loud and unbearable!!

Got to beta test it, and it’s a major improvement over the first game. What really sets this game apart is it’s sandbox aspect: you can make any racing series and simulate it.

Building on the foundations of its predecessor (which I played a lot), it is a great top down arcade sim, this time with added features like customizing your liveries, time trials and more new stuff. Would recommend to anyone who likes 2D/arcade racing games/sims and games to test your reflexes with. Very keyboard user friendly, which is a rarity nowadays, and also able to run smoothly on basically any kind of hardware.

PART 1:

======

I really don’t know what the most negativ reviews expected but it’s like they did not really played the game. Yes - it is not a racing simulation but neither is the F1-Series from Codemasters! Yes the F1-Series is a bit closer to a simulation but it is nothing compared to Assetto Corsa (both), iRacing, RaceRoom and so on.

So what can you expect from PROJECT CARS 3? A FUN GAME! JUST ENJOY THINGS AGAIN!

Real player with 67.5 hrs in game

EDITED: After months of waiting for them to improve this game I’m changing my review from positive to negative. There has been a complete lack of transparency from SMS and they decided to release a terrible DLC as opposed to focusing on fixing bugs and improving the overall quality of their product. Even when asked, SMS said that they are focused on fixing bugs and not on future content. The next update was, you guessed it, the DLC and a few bug fixes.

So I’ve played both PC1 and PC2 and I can say that this is nothing like those two games. It takes a completely different direction that isn’t at all Simulator, and I believe it shouldn’t be called Project CARS. But hey! Brand recognition, amirite?
