Antithesis

Antithesis

Antithesis is a top-down action arcade game where you control one spaceship with each hand: one with WASD and one with the arrow keys (alternatively, one with each joystick of a controller). There are four levels to beat by getting a certain score, and one endless level in which you have to try and get the highest possible score, and who knows, maybe even get a spot in the leaderboards?

Unique Selling Points

  • High intensity, frantic gameplay that rewards skillful players.

  • Unique challenge of hand independence, which will test you in ways you’re not familiar with.

Features

  • Control a Green Ship which loses health constantly. Avoid all asteroids and lasers, but try to pick up powerups.

  • Control a Purple Ship which gives the Green Ship health back upon destroying asteroids, but cannot die or pick up powerups.

  • Collect 4 different powerups.

  • Survive 3 life-threatening events.

  • Beat 4 levels, ranging from easy to impossible.

  • Get a high score in endless mode. Good luck getting a spot in the leaderboards!

  • Have fun! :)

Shortest Trip to Earth

Shortest Trip to Earth

My experience: I have beaten the game with every ship and on the hardest mode. Please note that my playtime doesn’t really reflect how much I played this game. I tend to leave whatever game I’m playing running when I’m AFK doing other things. That said, it probably would’ve taken at least 100 hours to accomplish what I have if Steam only counted when I was actually playing.

I’ve played some games which shared some attributes of this one but, really, not even FTL is all that close. You can move around much more than FTL. You’re not always running away - in fact, you’re running to the fight. The boarding mechanics are simpler here than FTL. The ship to ship combat and crew management is much more fleshed out here. I can’t think of any other games like this but, if you can, feel free to leave me a comment!

I bought this game on sale. The game has interesting story elements that gets you eager to get to the next sector. At first I was enjoying the game and would recommend the game to any “FTL” lower. But after last 2 runs I would definetly woudn’t recoomended the game. I don’t know if this is because of patching or this is the game design to make you reply game more, the more you play and get better the enemies get more stronger. When I say “enemies are getting stronger” I don’t mean like smarter AI or new tactis, they are basically cheating with some creazy strong weapons while at same time ship repaiers are getting more expencive for you.

Sniper Ships: Shoot’em Up on Rails

Very cool! A good mix of FPS with shoot up, with a very psychedelic look, is quite challenging. These neon lights look like 80s movies trying to imagine what the future looks like

Really cool shooter game, flashy LSD visuals, two shooting patterns, one frontal and one mouse driven, very hard, but very satisfying to play. Climb the leaderboards, fight harder and harder challenges. The Shooting Ships bundle is really filled with little delightful gems!

Gratuitous Space Battles

Gratuitous Space Battles

If you get this game, get the complete pack. If you already have this game, get the Campaign module. Without the Campaign aspect, the game is very limited and ultimatey you won’t have much to do.

But with the campaign, while it is VERY limited to just building fleets and maintaining them (with no other 4X concerns; all structures are pre-built in any given system), it becomes a completely different game. Since the fleets are uploaded from players, you’ll always hit new interesting configurations for specific systems; add in all the special per-system rules that you need specialized ships and the concern of maintaining supply lines for your fleets, and it becomes a pretty engrossing game that requires far more planning and leaves you with the threat that the next attacking fleet might have your number with a counter.

Never thought that creating ships to blow alien ships up for no apparent reason or logic whatsoever could be so fun! :D

What you basically do is to design ships which, when deployed in battle, will help defeat the enemy fleet. Every victory you win will give you a credit like reward called Honour. You use this ‘Honour’ to buy new shiny gadgets or weapons that blaze nice looking beams of death onto your enemy.

There is no actual story line. The game is basically composed of about 14 setups (counting the tutorial battle aswell as an additional 9 setups when including all the DLC’s, which brings the number up to 23) which all offer a different challenge along with a certain species to go against. This means that just because your ship designs and the fleet you deployed were successful against a certain race in such a scenario, doesn’t mean that you will be as successful in another scenario with a different species. Not to mention certain scenarios having something called ‘Spartial Anomalies’ which can affect how well/poor your ships perform in terms of their weapons and defences.

Destructivator 2

Destructivator 2

Quick Description:

-Destructivator 2 is retro throwback action platformer that is guaranteed to bring you back to gaming in the 90’s. This game is just as brutally challenging as old school games were but there are plenty of modern quality of life improvements sprinkled throughout this gem. This is a great game for those looking to bring themselves back to the good old days of arcade platform shooters.

What’s Good:

-Really easy to learn but there is a really high skill ceiling. This is a game on the surface that appears very simple and that is one of it’s strengths. Your only goal is to kill all enemies while shooting a NES contra-style gun and avoiding damage at all cost, that’s it. As you progress, you will face increasingly difficult challenges that push you to master these fundamental mechanics.

Holy cow!!! If you love retro gaming, this is the game for you! Destructivator 2 captures the very essence of what it means to be “retro”! Great pixel art, tons of action, and crazy difficulty! Unlike a lot of patty cake games today, games back in the day didn’t hold your hand, give you a trophy and a popsicle, pat you on the back, and say “good job” No sir! They kicked you in the teeth, stomped you while you were down and wouldn’t let up! All of that made you tougher and made it feel sooooooo good when you finally beat the game! If you want hours of fun and a true retro “golden age of gaming” experience, then you MUST get Destructivator 2! I’m an indie game tester, and this is one of the best I’ve played!

Red Sector

Red Sector

Fun arcade style game that gives you that, “I want to complete the next level” feeling. Still early doors but I feel sure the road-map of improvements will be coming soon.

Real player with 2.8 hrs in game

There are a bunch of things I like about this game. Start with the creative “sector” element of an arcade shooter. Moving to different sectors to clear out before giving the player the decision as to where they want to go next makes it a bit more controllable while breaking up the action in parts.

I also like the visuals. Simple but appealing too.

Really nice product!

  • Blast never ending waves of enemies

  • Unlock new ships

  • Get your best hi-score

  • Have the most amount of fun you can have with your clothes on

A Blast From The Past

Kalzor is a classic space blaster, drawing inspiration from the arcade hits of the 70’s and 80’s. I’ve done my best to bring together modern tech and classic gaming, to make Kalzor a balanced game, in regards to marrying the old and the new.

When you play Kalzor for the first time it will quickly feel like you are playing an arcade game from the eighties, the main difference is this time you’re not a virgin.

The retro themed music perfectly ties together the simplistic addictive gameplay and retro inspired visuals for the ultimate experience of ‘golden age’ gaming. With a chiptune vibe, sounding like it was composed on a speak and spell (oh the memories).

Game Play

Kalzor is a straight up fun game, no reading, no cut scenes - just 100% pixelated spaceship blasting goodness. You’ll avoid enemy attacks as you shoot your way to the highest score you’ve ever achieved. All the while collecting power ups and coins.

The coins themselves are used to unlock additional ships to control (there are five in total), meaning you have a variety of play styles to try. Each ship’s stats vary between speed, accuracy and defence (number of shields you start with). So you’ll find one that suits your mood.

Additionally there are alternative types of shots to use, which will alter how you proceed in combat. They also offer slightly more ammo than the regular ammo pickups, so if you see one float by don’t forget to grab it.

High score Champion

As a bid to promote Kalzor, players may post their scores and game play footage to YouTube, so long as our license is adhered to.
