Star Souls

Star Souls

Hi there! Well, I’m from development side, so don’t be surprised by my hours on record. I was responsible for music and sounds, so I’ll just skip that part and try to describe other areas as independent as possible.

Cons:

  • There are still some bugs. Some of them are unnoticeable, some of them like to show off, and some of them are actually features, so please finish the tutorial and check out the “How to play” thing in case of any doubts. Anyway, your gameplay shouldn’t be affected much, existing bugs don’t block you from finishing the game and getting all the achievements.

Hi there!

My impression of this game is quite positive to recommend it to other gamers.

Pluses:

  • interesting plot

  • funny text quests

  • simple and clear UI

  • awesome art with unique style

  • music sounds great

+Vicky. No comments.

Minuses:

-tutorial could be more detailed

-some little bugs. They don’t strongly affect on the game, sometimes help to win faster.

  • not for children, esp. because of some offensive things.

I especially like the music. It works perfectly in the game itself, but it’s also really nice to listen to on it’s own. It gives the game a feeling of tension and urgency when things are getting hectic. It also has a very nice contrast between more ambient and wonderful tracks, while the player searches empty or friendly locations, and the stimulating tracks of hostility.

Great title, considering the price. It’s sort of like Diablo and a turn-based squad game had a baby – Active pause lets you give orders to your squad of adventurers, and then things unfold in real time.

Pros: 1. GREAT atmosphere and novel setting. The STORY itself could be a bit more polished, but the characters have personality and variety. I thought not being able to create your own character (you choose from pregens) would be an obstacle but it’s NOT, the players are likable and learning their story is interesting.

Great game. I give it 8/10.

Pros:

-Puzzles to unlock goodies on about every level

-Awesome puzzles to complete storyline

-Good storyline

-Combat is intriguing and makes you think–must be very strategic.

-The number of companions that you can control and deck out with gear

-Pausing the game to plan out strategies

-Talent trees to cutomize for each companion; it adds a deeper level of gameplay

-Decent graphics

Cons:

-Game has some bugs–sometimes the abilities for a companion will not show up. Or, when you click on a companion, another companion’s abilities show up. When this happens, you have to restart the game to fix.

You get what you paid for, 2K achievements at minimum price. If you’re an achievement hunter looking to increase the number of achievements on your profile showcase, then I highly recommend buying this. Else don’t waste your money. This is not a game, it’s just a way of distributing achievements.

If you are tired and have a bad mood, forget about everything, turn on the brain and play. This game is for you! Destroy the cubes with the help of the neoshar. Throw the ball right at the target and score points. Put your record!

Still haven’t encountered Neo from the Matrix nor did I have to do anything with balls. Just got achievements for being myself and not doing drugs.

Original War

Original War

Brilliant game! Really well done RTS with RPG elements, with similarities to the Jagged Alliance or Commandos series. It felt a little slow paced and odd initially, but it quickly grew on me.

Instead of “building” infantry units in barracks like most other RTS games you have to work with the units you have. You’re always outnumbered, and to make up for it you must focus on resource management (gathering crates and building oil and siberite refineries), research and upgrades, and of course you have to plan your attacks so that you don’t lose units. It makes the game more exciting, involving and harder, and for people like me it adds a ton of replay value, since I wanted to beat the game with no characters losses. They won’t “resurrect”, so if you lose an important character you will miss out of dialogue, and you have to pick a weaker generic character and train it.

One of the most fun and conceptually interesting RTS games I’ve ever played. It’s an Original War in more than name.

The Good Things:

Good mix of RTS and RPG mechanics. Humans are a limited resource, they do not respawn and you do not receive more than you start with. Each character can gain experience in 4 classes and can change between classes at any time in the appropriate building, retaining his experience. Some things (construction, vehicles, turrets) can be automated, removing the need for a human pilot, but computer-controlled entities are slower, shabbier and do a lot less damage than those controlled by a skilled human operator. You must always find a balance between risking irrepleaceable human staff and wasting resources on suboptimal AI control.

I don’t know why is this on steam and who would pay 8€ for this. I got a key for free but i don’t know what the hell is this. On the videos it looks like it is not a bad game but it is garbage.

Hearts of Iron III

Hearts of Iron III

This game lets you play as any country during World War 2. I played the base game plus all expansions (SF, FtM, TFH).

You can manage every aspect of the war, from diplomacy to espionage to research to actual combat. You can even try to stay neutral and sit out the fighting if you want, but what fun would that be?

There is an enormous amount of complexity - casual gamers beware! If one part of the war is too tedious for you, it can be set to be automated. For example, rather than personally overseeing every trade deal you can check a box and let the computer handle all of your trades. The computer is not as smart as a person and it can’t metagame but in most tasks it does an adequate job.

The King of Grand Strategy

Most of you who visit the shop-page for Hearts of Iron III probably already know what this game is all about. It’s a hardcore (as hardcore as it can get, actually!) Grand Strategy Game by Paradox Interactive. That one sentence really says it all.

This review is intended for those who don’t yet know what Grand Strategy (the capitals are there with a purpose!) is all about. Simply put: Grand Strategy games are the best, but also the most complex, pc gaming has to offer. They are immersive, complex, and very addictive. They are not for everyone, that’s for sure. You don’t play them for the graphics, nor for the sounds or some great level-design, but only for the gameplay, which can also be very, very difficult to master. There are tons of stats, of units and/or provinces to be controlled and only one person who has the power to control them: you.

The Fall of the Dungeon Guardians - Enhanced Edition

The Fall of the Dungeon Guardians - Enhanced Edition

TL;DR for the Gamers:

If you enjoy a good dungeon crawler and games like Wizardry and Dungeon Master (or more recent titles inspired by these classics), but tire of the classic square-dance mechanics of most modern entries into this genre, then you could easily fall in love with the Fall of the Dungeon Guardians. This game mixes the feel of real-time combat with turn-based strategy through skill queues and a unique pause/play system. It features an optional slider to customize the battle speed (if you would rather handle party actions in real-time) and in-game pause with a menu full of auto-pause options reminiscent of games like Baldur’s Gate, Icewind Dale, and Pillars of Eternity (for those of you who like to crank up the difficulty and sit back to think). With a variety of races, classes with their own sets of specializations, and the ability to create hybrid specializations, party creation and customization is definitely available here. Mix these features with auto-attacks, cooldown skills, and a solid threat management system, and you get a highly addictive dungeon crawler that plays like nothing I have ever experienced before. And, with a variety of difficulty settings covering the spectrum from casual adventurer to die-hard tactician, there is a comfort zone for anyone.

Dungeon crawlers

The vast majority of people on this planet don’t know, and will never know, the beauty of it. Every time I play one, I feel I belong to a secret society. Is it all nostalgia? The countless days, nights and weeks playing FTL’s Dungeon Master back in the late 80’s on my Atari ST? Or is it simply a matter of taste, this genre rubbing me the right way? I’m not sure, but I will do my best to analyse my thoughts about this game, The Fall of the Dungeon Guardians (TFotDG), created by French indie developer Mana Games.

My favourite strategy game of all time. 99% of your losses will come down to your misplays/poor decisions. Losing always sucks but you’ll usually learn something new
