Ruby & Majesty: Treasure Team

Ruby & Majesty: Treasure Team

Ruby & Majesty is a fantastic puzzle-based action-exploration game. It was designed with solo play in mind, hence the extremely simple controls (one joystick per character, no buttons needed outside of menus), but the puzzles are compelling and creative enough that playing with a friend is still a rich and satisfying experience. Plus, as the characters each have their own unique roles to play in every puzzle, playing with a friend essentially nets you two games in one– just switch controllers and start a new game, perhaps in Flipped mode for an even fresher experience.

Here are my two cents about this game, it starts out great as a mix between early Wario titles on gameboy, Knytt series and Chip’s challenge, not sure if a lot of people played it, but you can throw Nub’s Adventure style wise into the list too.

It doesn’t take long to be dragged into this strange world, where puzzles are part of everything including gameplay, story, characters.. the world itself.

-Story- 7/10

Unfortunately despite how much I liked the concept, it doesn’t explain much or work well towards giving you more sensical clues about what is going on, a lot of npcs you find have only few dialog lines, upon completing a big chunk of puzzles and challenges sometimes you feel like going back to the hub area and finding something new, some kind of subtle rewards for your exploration and adventures. But everything stays the same. You can listen to the tracks that you found, or speak to the npcs that you rescued, they will stay in their tiny rooms, and it can be a bit frustrating to visit the new rooms upon each new rescue, because it won’t show which rooms you already visited and their door portals have identical indications. Even though the interaction with these npcs is pointless, you still feel like you want to get some kind of reward for your troubles, and tick those boxes. Story wise it really got me excited but unfortunately I felt like it gassed out by the end. I personally wasn’t satisfied with the endings that I got. I understand the idea behind interpreting things, but I didn’t get enough material to work with. But I can give a big plus for all those moments where Ruby and Majesty interacted with each other, it was a nice touch to keep things fresh and had a nice charm to it. I don’t know what was the vision and philosophy behind how the story should be delivered to the player, but it left me disappointed. Sorry.

if you like games that leave you to explore and learn by yourself with no explanation then this game is for you. it does not give you any kind of tutorials or hints, you will be like Carl Sagan, solving puzzles without knowing how did you solve it or why stuff happens the way they happen. if you are depressed and want something to do while thinking on ways on how to end it , try this game.

A combination of crappy controls and one hit = you are dead make the game a bad buy whatever price it is on it.

  • Every time you pressed the run button, the character ends it with doing a deacceleration animation that blows a bit of dust at his feet, it takes more then a second to watch. During this time you cannot do anything and it’s the main reason you die in this game, since you need to run all the time.

  • If you want to sit down to make an attack you can do while sitting, the character very ofter roll into an enemy and die instead. Why? I don’t know.

Dark story dispite the perfect world it sets up. I like it!

Clunky but challanging gameplay

Just needs to open itself at the user perfered settings

This game needs optimization, the lag is atrosious for a sprite based game.

Muppy The Bunny : The Danger of Wishes

Muppy The Bunny : The Danger of Wishes

Game is still in the early stages but gameplay is quite fun.

Feedback I can give for now:

  • There’s a typo in the controls description (parahcute).

  • Storyline isn’t quite inviting to read, I’d rather skip through (maybe a shorter storyline with more appealing visuals would do the trick)

  • Pressing P to pause the game would be very useful, as well as a menu to control the volume or change controls.

  • After level 5 or 6 there’s a giant monster coming after you and you lose almost all of your hp in a couple of seconds. It would be better to start this as soon as a control is hit, for the player to prepare on how to do this. –- edit: after like 2 times in this level u’ll figure it out so this is pretty noob critic

I don’t think i can put into words how bad this game was, but i’m gonna try anyways. First off this game (to my knowledge) has no save and pause feature, granted it is a short game but the option to quit and come back would be nice. speaking of coming back, since i got the bad ending, to get the good ending i ave to sit through this game through its entirety, which I personally don’t have the willpower for. there are two attacks, both of which suck, the ground attack freezes you entirely, and the air attack puts you into a free-fall state where you cant collect carrots, you don’t die to spikes, and you go through balloons. If there is an enemy above a balloon and it’s too late to glide back to where you jumped from, you are dead. Some of the levels are a visual representation of entropy and chaos and they look like a bad Mario Maker stage. the plot was explained at the beginning and was not further developed throughout the game, so it felt like no progression was being held and the momentum of any story was lost. Speaking of momentum, there is none, moving forward and stopping are the same speed as your fastest speed, which I feel if you are trying to make it like a game from the 90’s you should at least include a core concept that the 80’s got. This game thrusts you into portions that do not explain the gameplay and you just have to figure out itself, many old games would do this, but they came with instruction manuals. The water boss took me about 5 minutes to realize how to beat him since they put you into a room with a boss and no explanation. Anyone who is looking for a fun free game,i would very much not recommend this and I only beat it because I hate myself

Nightmare Boy

Nightmare Boy

Really loved this game. Aesthetics are amazing, and the story has a lot of hidden depth. At the beginning I was wondering if I was imagining some meanings, but as I progressed in the game I realised it was all carefully planned. Pay attention to the dialogues, as they´re really good. Maybe it´s a bit too difficult though, and better map or guidance to decide your way would be appreciated.

Just finished it, but I´m replaying it again as I didn´t get all the Asher pieces!

I defeinitely recommend this game!

I loved the game. The art style is cool and the game-play can either be really easy or really hard depending on which difficulty setting you decide to play it on. It is a fun little metroidvania that easily used up ten hours of my life getting most of the achievements. The last three I don’t expect to be too tough on easy mode, except for the pacifist achievement which I think will be more of a pain in the butt than the rest of them. Those damn mongos are everywhere and it is tough not to kill one on accident…

SOMETHING ABOUT IT

Imagine a small snowy island surrounded by an endless ocean from whose waters giant birches grow. There is nothing more in the whole world. The only people are a small tribe.

According to tradition, each child must go through a complex ritual to get rid of the evil spirit that lives in everyone from birth. This is the only way to get a name and become an adult.

The Boy has one last attempt to go through the ritual, and he goes on a journey for Magic Water that can make any person strong. But this potion is protected by a Grim Creature that lives in a Dark Cave.

Will the Boy be able to resist the danger, overcome all the difficulties, fight the Beast, become strong, return to the surface in time and undergo the rite to become part of his tribe?

Well, of course he will.

SOMETHING ABOUT YOU

The Boy is not a typical platformer hero: he is sensitive and fragile.

Will you listen to the Boy’s worries, choosing a safer path, or will you risk not caring about the child’s feelings, just to get through the game as quickly as possible?

  • Control your mental state and stamina level.

  • Try to avoid cold water.

  • Look for shelter so as not to freeze.

  • Go to bed to restore your strength and save game progress.

  • Learn how to overcome various types of enemies, traps, and mechanisms.

  • Get to know new proverbs and sayings to better understand the nature of this world.

  • Pay attention to the details to discover a new depth of this story.

  • Eat well and rest well.

  • Get back to the village in time.

You only have one chance to go through the rite. When you fall, the game is over. There are no continues, my friend.

SOMETHING ABOUT US

We are a team of two novice developers from Irkutsk, Russia. This is our first experience of game development, and we have many interesting ideas that we want to implement.

Ostrova Koshki is a very personal game. I think it’s easy to guess that I often imagine I’m the Boy, and the Cave is a video game development. The release of the game is a ritual, the culmination of many years of work, where I have only one attempt to prove myself.

If you find our game at least a little cute, add it to your wishlist and come see my growing-up ritual when the game is finished.

SOMETHING ABOUT A CATHOOD PARTY COMEBACK COLLECTION

Cathood Party: Comeback Collection is a game series consisting of four games:

  • Game of the year, a rhythm arcade about the importance of simple moments when you can just fool around with your friends and forget about all your worries.

  • Shaman You, a casual novel about mental and physical health on days when life turns upside down.

  • Cathood Party, a JRPG in which you play the role of the party leader and your strongest weapons are ethics and empathy.

  • Ostrova Koshki, an action platformer about teenage issues in primitive world.

These games are autonomous, but all together they are telling an entirely new story. You will find out about it soon enough.

Thank you for your attention.
