Smart Gecko is essentially a simple variant of the “don’t cross your own path” puzzle sub-genre. It could have been a passable way to spend a little time, but for the fact that zero effort has been made to fix some pretty glaring issues.

It should have been simple: Move your gecko one space at a time in order to eat all the fireflies and finish the board. Yet there are multiple problems, least of all the lack of a tutorial. It seems like that would be unnecessary, but at least two of your losses will be figuring out that turning into a wall makes your gecko explode violently, as does walking into a pillar (in the game’s overhead view, the pillar looks like something you can walk over). There is no way to undo a bad move, which will happen more than you’d like due to the inexplicable lag after pressing a movement key. There is a timer that doesn’t seem to do anything, and no option to play without it. Finishing a level means you have to actually maneuver your gecko to the edge of the screen, and then press another key to move it off the screen. The problem with this (besides the obvious redundancy) is that you cannot tell where the actual correct path is. And since, as I’ve mentioned, there is no undo key, you’ll just have to start over.

Spaceship Commander

Good game from my perspective. Fills that spot between Stellar Tactics and Wayward Terran Frontier: Zero Falls. Can’t wait for this game to mature. Pretty sure my standards are not the same as everybody else’s. I see lots of potential in this game and I hope my hope for potential from this game is not doused later. So try it out for yourself if you are interested enough to play.

The Devs of this game despite having a fair few negative reviews have remained strong and kept working on this game instead of just giving up like so many others have.

This game from what I have played of it so far is genuinely pretty good and I think has received a bad rep by people who wanted a quick go and then refund it without giving it a full run.

Keep it up guys.

Climber: Sky is the Limit

Climber: Sky is the Limit

Climber: Sky is the Limit is a game with a unique mixture of survival and simulation. As a player, you are a climber who takes on the most difficult and dangerous peaks on earth. To succeed you need to plan your journey carefully by preparing appropriate equipment, choosing a suitable trail, facing extreme weather conditions, and surviving. Conquer your limits, overcome your fear and reach the sky.

Reach the summit

Each expedition is different, and the journey to the top is a great challenge. Conquer your fear, face your limits and reach the summit. In order to do that: traverse dangerous trails using specialized equipment such as ice ax, lifelines, or carabiners.

Face numerous dangers

During the journey, you will face diverse obstacles like blizzards, chasms, vertical walls, steep traverses, icy slopes, and crevasses. The key to success is to plan your next steps wisely and use the appropriate equipment at the right time.

Plan your expedition

Before setting off, decide which trail is best to the top taking into account weather conditions and the weather windows. Sometimes it’s better to take a chance and choose a more difficult route, but thanks to this you will be able to reach the summit before a snowstorm.

Survival

The key to survival is to have appropriate tools when you need one. Each piece of equipment has its weight but also makes your next step harder. Ensure you have enough food to recover your strengths, or you have a warm jacket and sleeping bag to warm up after a full-day climb.

Good timing also plays a great role during the expedition. In the high mountains, where weather changes quickly and night falls very fast, plan ahead to set up camp in the right place that gives you a chance to recover before the next challenging day.

Key Features

  • Scale some of the world’s most famous peaks like Everest, K2, Broad Peak, and others.

  • Face a variety of environmental challenges from chasms, vertical walls, steep traverses, icy slopes, treacherous crevasses, and more.

  • Use specialized equipment to traverse dangerous trails and slopes like ice axes, carabiners, and lifelines.

  • Contend with and plan around harsh weather conditions like blizzards, extreme wind, and plummeting temperatures.

  • Keep up your health and strength by balancing stamina, morale, temperature, and hunger.

  • Plan every point of your journey, packing only the necessities, choosing your path (will you take the safer route or the risky one?), preparing for each day’s trek and weather conditions.

  • Vie for contracts from sponsors for a chance to buy extra equipment and fund future excursions, but be advised they may include incredible challenges.

  • An immersive experience that has been created to be as realistic as possible through consulting expert mountaineers.

Incredibly amazing game. The movement of the character is a lot of fun and every boss and mechanics in the game are really surprising. The levels that you can jump on the monster’s head in sequence were very well thought out.

A pretty good platformer. I really like this unique aesthetic and gameplay concept where you can’t see the enviroment, so you have to move and jump to splash ink revealing the obstacles and platforms.

Dr Livingstone, I Presume?

Dr Livingstone, I Presume?

Dr. Livingstone is a very well thought out adventure that tells a fictionalized account of the friendship between Henry Stanley and David Livingston. You play from the first person perspective of Henry and have arrived at David’s house in Africa to check on his well being. You find the house in disarray and must work your way through looking for your friend.

The game is like an ‘escape the room’ exercise with an ongoing narrative told through David’s letters/memos and Henry’s comments. You solve a variety of puzzles in each room in order to find the key to the next room. In this manner, you work your way through the house.

Dr Livingstone, I Presume? is an astonishingly beautiful escape room game based on historical characters and facts, yet the game’s narrative is given a slightly fictional interpretation, as envisioned by the creators.

You take the role of the journalist Henry Morton Stanley, who receives a letter from his friend, David Livingstone - a renowned explorer - urgently asking for his help. While historically Stanley embarks on an expedition to Africa in search of the famous missionary who had vanished several years earlier, here he is summoned to the professor’s house. Upon his arrival, he finds the rooms devoid of any presence and no trace of Dr. Livingstone.

graphics are sharp on ultra. Even with a bare house, you find yourself ignoring this as your head is spinning 360 degrees constantly. it is a horror but if a child suffers from this amount of monsters for seven days AND not sleeping, it would drive anyone to hallucinate. I could only get to night six but you can watch my walk through below:

This is what was missing after watching the expance show.

In this space 2D arcade, physics is more realistic than in other serious space simulators

If you are familiar with Newton’s second law, then you should like it.

I am incredibly surprised by how cool this game is.

At first I got pretty annoyed and ALMOST rage quit. Then I thought to myself, “Are you gonna let the game win?!”

I then preceded to beat each level 4 or 5 times, and I’m glad I did.

Between your surroundings, the background, and your ship, there are times I sort of lost perspective. What’s moving? What’s at a stand-still? Am I still moving? Lol, it was great. It almost gives you a bit of perspective into how vast and empty space can be.

The controls are simple and responsive, the HUD is minimal but exactly what you need, the physics of your ship vs everything else with a gravitational pull feels really clean.

Game Over.

–-

I’ve literally just summed up the entire game for you, including the narration.

1. Game is a walking simulator that doesn’t even let you jog/run, it’s just a slow walk through the woods.

2. It has constant narration that just tells you what it is you are doing. “Nephise opened a door” “Nephise wants a drink” it gets annoying almost immediately but it’s the entire game, your every action is narrated. If the narrator isn’t talking it’s because you got lost in the woods and are just walking around not actually doing anything while the narrator waits for you to find the next interaction point. Your actions amount to completing 1 puzzle, you are adjusting some statues to face a particular way, then ring a bell and walk to the ending.

Introduction

Nephise may just as well be Tonguç Bodur’s shortest creation, yet it still bares the developer’s mark of distinction. Just as its lengthier predecessors, Nephise is both abstract and relaxing. A journey which represents something entirely different, depending on what the players perceive or desire it to be. Having played through all of Tonguç’s games so far, I can safely assure you that each and every one of them, has a distinct and fascinating tale, just waiting to be discovered. You will only need patience and an inclination towards walking simulators.
