AR-K: The Great Escape

AR-K: The Great Escape

After playing the first 2 episodes I can safely say that this is the best episode so far!!! The developers certainly improved the game quality in both ways: technically and direction-wise. The following points sums up the following:

Pros:

  • Gameplay quality much improved from first 2 episodes

  • Puzzles more interesting

  • Protagonist given more depth in character

  • Story development much more natural

  • Render quality improved

  • This episode is much more bug free than previous 2 episodes

It’s great when you come to a game and it’s a lot better than you thought it would be. While I enjoyed ar-k 1 and 2 and I do recommend those games to play first, this for me is a lot better - story, graphics, setting. The writing was very good and if you didn’t want to read everything, you didn’t need to click on that character’s bit of conversation but could come back to it if you wanted. I liked the humour, and it was witty in parts. It is the perfect balance of not just a good story which is vital in an adventure game but also good interactive gameplay.

Hear ye, hear ye! Hear the news… and despair! For the robots have acquired rockets!

This is very much a fun, although frustrating game! The style is pretty memorable and reminds me of Borderlands. Controls are somewhat tricky in the beginning though I picked ‘em up quickly enough. The collisions/mouse are sometimes a bit finicky still, though maybe this is more of a ‘git gud’ aspect than an actual complaint :P

I’m definitely failing/falling often, most of the times by attempting to grab the collectible hats (which are very cute!) but the smooth smooth soundtrack helps rein in the frustration… No, seriously, the jazz is smoother than a baby’s bottom. Each time I go up again, though, I get a little bit better, a little bit faster, so I’d say this game also has lots of speed run potential! All in all, a pretty great game for a solid price!

60 minute review (in-depth review will follow after 10 hours)!

This game! It’s funny, it’s frustrating but mostly it’s frustratingly funny!

First experience:

After 60 minutes all I can say is: “FFFFFFFFFFuuuuudge” since I dropped down again after a brutal climb where I eventualy panicked from making the right move/jump!

And what do you get for it as a reward? A hat and a 300 meter drop back to the start.

Silver lining: Atleast you will develop the needed skills for that first part pretty fast.

I think the game is really amazing. The art style is great. The game starts relativly easy and the later levels are difficult but never unfair. I had a lot of fun!

Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams

Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams

Mostly Boring

Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams is a platforming game where you play as a pair of characters that can switch on the fly, changing the environment, the enemies, and in a lot of parts, the available collectible crystals. Crystal collecting and switching are at the core of this game, and not much else.

Don’t expect much of a story. I’ll be honest, I found none myself, so this is really just pure game. The problem is that the game it is isn’t very good.

Navigate levels by jumping and either spinning, which turns the character into a kind of cannon ball that can break walls or attack enemies; or twisting, which allows the character to descend slowly and with more control after a jump.

What about Giana Sisters - Twisted Dreams?

This seemingly cute and unambitious platformer will prove that you should never judge a book by its cover. It sports increasingly challenging level making use of the core mechanic; dual world that can change how enemies and the environment behaves around you.

The game is so cutesy, it must be easy! Hint: It is not

Although the game starts simple and easy it soon becomes one of the most difficult platforming games with long levels full of secret paths leading to more gems, which you will need to explore if you wish to earn the best rank.

personally i love this game i have spent well over 100 hours and i still play it almost every day. it takes some time to learn the controls and even longer to master. the game is still very early in its development and i know that there is lots of stuff coming in the future like diving and more props to play around with. I would 100% recommend using a gamepad for this game otherwise its going to be very hard to play.

What an amazing game.

I’ve been looking for a gymnastics physics game that allows you to really grind and develop skills/routines. The real game begins when you start playing the user created levels from the workshop. The discord community is great an ultimately is the game of choice for gymnasts and gymnastics fanatics alike. I’ve waited so long for a game like this, and I’m so happy it came.

Got this game because I love devil daggers. The soundtrack is awesome and the gameplay has a really unique twist.

Real player with 4.3 hrs in game

Overall, I feel the potential and the charm of this game are buried too deeply beneath absolutely horrible visual clarity and the frustration of, for a lack of better words, total bullshit deaths completely outside of player control.

Shillelagh is held back by issues that are few in number but quite significant in effect. My biggest frustration currently is that it seems everything in the game has collision and can push you around. The trees popping up, the spirits you launch at enemies, the little floating stone fragments that appear when enemies burst through the rock, and probably more. On the handful of runs I’ve tried, an enemy has killed me only once. Every other run I’ve had end did so due to a tree bursting up beneath me unexpectedly and shoving me off the arena with no chance for me to react, or a single, tiny out of place floating stone bumping me into a pit. I don’t feel like I died because I made a mistake - I died because of something stupid I have absolutely no ability to influence and no possible method of reacting to. It feels like shit and it’s rapidly killing my ability to enjoy the game even this early on.
