Been following this game since early development, tried the beta, and have watched the dev work streams. This game is amazing great story telling and the retro graphics sells the RPG element hard. The battle mechanics are very well done, absolutely loved what I have gotten to play.

Company of Crime

Sometimes at the end of the day, when you need to talk about a game you’d recommend to someone, there are situations where you won’t say it’s a “good” game, or that it’s a particular pleasure to play, but you recommend the game because, for all its flaws and shortcomings, it has a spark. It has something that among the rest, makes it unique and enjoyable. Such is the case for Company of Crime.

A game set in London of the 60s, with a focus of gang wars and a strong influence from modern X-COMs, and to some extend Phantom Doctrine, has something to seduce. And indeed, the ambiance is there. The music, the clothes, the environnement. It’s all there. Yet, the game is, well, it’s janky. There is no hiding it, there are a bunch of bugs, some of with I had the dubious honor of helping to fix, but when you consider only 2 persons did all the QA, and the game was made by a very small team, you need to understand where you’re going. It is very much a game to get in the 15 euros or less, as that’s overall the value of such a game. It’s not big budget game, and what it delivers, I’m afraid to say, can’t possibly compete with a juggernaut like Firaxis backed by the greedy bastards at 2K(“2K, you love it, we ruin it!"). The core loop is repetitive fast, the enemies not varied, and while the heavy melee focused combat feels fresh and in some aspect reminds a bit of Into the Breach by some aspect(positioning and use of your skills to control the battlefield are key, and can lead to nice combos), at the end of the day, it won’t be something able to keep you hooked for too long, which is a bit of a shame.

Company of Crime:

Every country and indeed, city, in this beautiful world of ours has notorious individuals or gangs. Some are more famous than others. Al Capone and Lucky Luciano were probably the most notorious and known gangsters during the prohibition in America. In the 1960’s, the small and isolated island known as England had its fair share of dangerous criminals, with the Krays Twins and the Richardson brothers, to mention a couple. So, what is the business of crime? How hard is it to establish yourself and, most importantly, to keep yourself at the top of your game? On the opposite side of the coin, there are people who put their lives on the line to dismantle these organisations and arrest their members one by one. Will you become the next big mobster of the 60’s, or will you fight against them as the boss of Scotland Yard’s task force? One thing is for sure, you’ll know all about Company of Crime!

## Hunt: The Unknown Quarry

I'm thoroughly enjoying this game. It's a great alternative to Cluedo, but slightly more challenging and in-depth, in my opinion. It may take a few games to get to grips with the mechanics, cards and options available, but it won't be long before you find yourself either being targeted/preyed upon or interrogating/attacking other players. It's a dog-eat-dog type of survival game, where everyone's out for themselves including the monster. The theme and daunting background music enhance the game, making you feel slightly uneasy (like prey), not knowing for sure who, what or where the monster is, unless they reveal themselves. Also, playing as the monster is an additional challenge, which requires an alternative strategic approach. You'll soon find you can't just go around munching on fellow opponents in broad daylight, but have to maintain a far more stealthy disposition. I felt the game was fairly balanced well, particularly if playing the monster against AI opponents (for mediocre players). However, I haven't had the chance to properly play any friends online yet, so can't say if this will be the case against live players, who I think will be a little more savvy. In any case, I believe this could only enhance the game further, making self-preservation more challenging. I've seen other comments related to lack of online activity (no one to play with) and about playing for free. For me personally, it's no big deal, never felt the real need to be able to play strangers online. I took a gamble, bought the game and tested inviting a friend to play (for free), which worked fine, no issues. I was sceptical at first after reading some comments, but am extremely pleased to say how glad I am that I made this purchase. I can't recommend 'Hunt…' highly enough, for those who love Cluedo, Mystery of the Abbey (tabletop games), but then maybe I'm just extremely optimistic and easily pleased.

--- Okay I love this game. Like a lot it mixes a lot of elements I like. It has a huge learning curve as many said which I think could be cut down like if you had a sheet or a tab to check what monsters did what that would be cool. Other than that the people complaining about assholes in chats and that didn't group play I bet, its would be much easier playing with just friends than random people Over all I don't make a lot of reviews but i love this game so fucking much I'm leaving a review. *– [Real player with 20.1 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198851925119)* --- ![Black Closet](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/400580/header.jpg "") ## Black Closet Are you good enough to get into a prestigious college? Well, you better hope you are, because that's your ultimate goal as Black Closet's main character Elsa Jackson. Actually achieving that goal requires a successful term as president of your school's student council, and achieving that goal requires putting the lid on several potential scandals without damaging your own credibility too badly. Let me tell you, there are a _lot_ of potential scandals, and other forces at work may end up making your life more difficult. But first you need to identify and neutralize the traitor within your ranks… *– [Real player with 104.5 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198169199445)* Black Closet is one of my favorite games. The characters are interesting and sometimes complex, the story is entertaining and contains some interesting branches, and the gameplay is a really fun application of resource management to solve mysteries. Elsa, the player character, is the president of the student council and must strategically deploy her "minions" (the other student council members) to resolve various crises so that their fancy private school remains respected while also trying not to ruin the student council's reputation with the rest of the student body. These crises vary from mundane (the daughter of someone important might be failing a class) to serious (a student has gone missing). You need to assign the right minion for various investigative tasks that match their personal skills (for example, you don't want to send the nice friendly girl to yell at a culprit or send the introvert to gather info via a friendly chat with a suspect) while also balancing your minions' needs because they will be temporarily unavailable if their workload causes too much stress. The cases are randomized, so this is great for replayability! *– [Real player with 66.2 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198038597318)* --- ![Penny Arcade's On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 3](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/213030/header.jpg "") ## Penny Arcade's On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 3 This quickly became one of my favorite RPG's as well as my personal favorite game in the PAA series, and with good reason. There's quite a lot I'd like to say, so let's get to it. The game takes place 2 weeks after the events of Episode 2, but what's neat is that you don't need to have played it to understand the story going into Episode 3, as they immediately give you a summary of prior events upon talking to one of the statues in the Detective Agency. That alone makes Episode 3 easy to pick up and play, and the gameplay will keep you around for the long haul. *– [Real player with 105.9 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198063473642)* This game was an enjoyable throwback to 16bit turn based RPGs, but with a twist. They improved the combat system by adding some complexity without making it overly complicated. Since the core of all these turned based RPGs is mostly how well and fulfilling the combat is, the majority of this review will go over that section in detail to give you a greater understanding of how the game plays. I broke down the review in bold sections so you can read what is most important or what is most interesting to you in order of importance. *– [Real player with 16.2 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198032109396)* --- ![This Is the Police 2](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/785740/header.jpg "") ## This Is the Police 2 I can highly recommend This is the police 2 for everyone who played the first game as it heavily improves on the gameplay. In every call you get to choose how your officers react, what happens after that and how it actually goes, something the first game didn't really offer. The officers are also much more human. While in the first game they were basically a portrait with a name and a professionalism stat, here they have various more stats, individual loyalty levels and a few special traits. For instance Kamatari Kurosawa is really lazy and only does one call per day, Galen Woolbag smells bad Leo Bradhi loves coming with his own uniforms. This along with some "Can I have a day off?" questions unique to a certain officer or them asking go to a funeral when a fellow officer dies or developing alcohol problems when they see them die in front of them makes them seem much more human and adds to the atmosphere and adds a new layer to gameplay. *– [Real player with 252.0 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198043650840)* I loved This is the Police 1, but unfortunately this fails to reach anywhere near the same quality. There are some genuinely good additions made here: - Having officers with particular skills (speed, etc) made calls much more interesting (and gave a great incentive to keep good cops alive) - The XCOM style tactical combat system is a very neat idea, and at times was very fun to play. I would love to see this done in any future related games. - The ability buy and give out equipment to cops with relevant skills was a nice touch, and made the dept. feel much more real *– [Real player with 35.8 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198108530959)* --- ![Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth: Complete Edition](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/1042550/header.jpg "") ## Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth: Complete Edition Amazing JRPG, honestly good storyline but if you don't pay attention to the walls upon walls of text in the game then you might get lost between doing missions or how to get the next mission. Amazing game and decent soundtrack too. *– [Real player with 293.1 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198355419692)* After playing this game for 166 hours, struggling collects all achievement replay again and again. but I'm just very satisfied with this game. whether the story makes various cases And what I like the most is the Digimon battle scenes. It reminds me of my childhood. When I sit and watch Digimon through cartoon programs on television in the morning. This game really reminds me of my childhood. all charming of Digimon evolution. how overcoming difficult enemies, Everything is doing very well. I recommend it for those who like Digimon. *– [Real player with 166.3 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198121762249)* --- ![Coffee Noir - Business Detective Game](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/855550/header.jpg "") ## Coffee Noir - Business Detective Game The idea was good, the delivery is kind of disappointing. The music and artwork are the strongest points of the production. It looks very pleasant and it's nice to have in the background. Gameplay is problematic. Tasks are easy (I played on normal), negotiations not always make sense, but it's not bad. The worse were the clues, the whole detective system is quite bad. A lot of text and updates that are repetitive. The clues supposed to have the logic in connecting them, but it took me a while to understand, that some clues are going to be obviously connected to stuff that we already knew. I didn't feel like it's a challenge, more like a blind guess. *– [Real player with 30.4 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198964346933)* Coffee Noir doesn't try to be anything more than what it is - a neo noir game with supporting business sim mechanics. No pointless time-wasting side activities to be found here. The story is at the front and center of everything. Moreover, the game's fully voiced from start to finish, making for a more immersive experience. The game might not have much to offer in terms of replay value. But if you're willing, you can walk away having learned a thing or two about the art of negotiating. *– [Real player with 25.8 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198057535996)* ---
