Sanity of Morris

Sanity of Morris

Sanity of Morris is a story-driven stealth/flight like Sir you are being hunted game but with a story. John, your character arrives at his father’s house Hank who had been researching alien presence. Forced into early retirement by his company Hank investigated alien presence and kept logs of his work for John to discover. John learns that alien life had been spying on humans through plants since the 1970s. The game can be completed in around 4 hours. The game is all about flight, hiding and simple stealth. You can avoid dying by crouching and avoiding the creatures light source. You can also easily die by not following certain path or jumping from one level to another. The voice acting and story is very well done.

This game is so awesome! It has pretty much everything you can think of in a horror adventure game. It has puzzles, awesome chases, stealth, and pretty darn good graphics! The story was amazing, I was questioning everything since the beginning! Items that can be collected were pretty easy to find until the last area, where there were too many enemies bundled up together, but it’s not that big of a deal! All in all for what you’re paying, I do recommend this game for the price! I think I beat it all within around 4 hours of collecting it, reading the documents, and listening to the story! Now, something that is pretty noticeable is the A.I. Their vision is not the best, and when they chase you, you better hope you have a place to hide nearby because they are really fast and will catch you!!

This game is honestly grinding on your nerves…

Slow movement, confusing quests & scripts, the energy limit that basically soft locks your game and forces you to start over from the previous save once you used up the energy and hence unable to proceed through triggering conversations.

You can’t talk to the NPCs in the game when you have no energy left, or do any actions other than entering different rooms.

The game is also quite buggy in times where you have scenes suddenly being jerked across the screen before settling down and allowing a go at the minigames.

Lost in Terra Mora

Lost in Terra Mora

This game tried to access the internet, which is not necessary in any way. My anti-virus caught it, and I blocked it.

I got to the shack with the “secret floorboard” and it wouldn’t budge. Went to all four areas, the game gave no indication of what to do. There was no solution present, so this is either malware, or it simply doesn’t work.

-20/10.

ATTENTION: REVIEW HAS SPOILERS!

First of all, I would like to congratulate the developers of the game for their work, because this is subject I am incredibly interested in.

I remember being 16 years old, and reading a magazine article about the Zodiac, and being equaly frightened and curious as I saw that drawing of the killer in his costume, as it was described by the surviving victim, Brian Hartnell. That, along with the letters and ciphers, is a case where what we expect could only happen in fiction became reality - someone was killing people, communicating with the public by sending letters to the press and challenging everyone to catch him (even making movie reviews, not kidding!). Since my youth, I have been acompanying the forums on the internet which discuss the Zodiac Killer case and all the recent news/info about it.

Meh. I wish there were a “Meh” button instead of whether I do or do not recommend. It depends.

I had this on my wishlist and anxiously awaited release, and when the first wave of reviews were mixed, and I read about issues with the stalker mode (and knowing my history f’ing HATING games where I’m trying to do puzzles while getting stalked/usually killed), decided to just play the story mode.

Wise choice. Was still spooky without constantly destroying my will to play by making me start over chapters when I would have been inevitably caught. For that, I thank the devs.

Edwardo

Edwardo

Edwardo is a combination of comedy and horror throughout the development of this game. The graphics are beautiful, especially the lighting that brings the detail of the textures. What’s more interesting was the enemy with the Tommy Gun. In other horror games, you would most likely encounter a monster, but here you are being tracked by an enemy with a weapon in the game. I love the enemy’s humor whenever he tries to find you. The pacing of this game was fair, and it took me an hour to complete it. It does have horror, but some parts aren’t frightening.

For Lewis' first stealth game this was pretty good. It isn’t necessarily scary until you are finding the last sample and you come across Edwardo. I think the stealth mechanics are pretty good but it’s also hard to say how some things work like can he hear you do things can he see your light? But you can still go through the game just hiding from Edwardo until he moves on.

Pros:

  • A somewhat good stealth game, nothing too fancy but gets the job done

  • Good lighting, especially the samples making them hard to miss

After the demo I couldn’t wait for the first chapter. As a fan of mysteries this hit the right spot for me.

The game never felt stale (as many horror/puzzle games can be at times), interesting narrative, amazing story/writing. First playthrough was with constant shivers in my spine. I was not a big horror game fan but this game is starting to maybe change my perspective of the genre.

Game felt much more smoother than the demo, for example the walking and looking around with the mouse with motion blur turned on (which I usually turn off in games because it’s rarely done right) felt very snappy and responsive, in simple words it’s done right. Overall, the optimization is pristine. The fact that it was made with no budget and only 2 friends, it’s amazing. The amount of work, time and commitment must have been huge!

Game could use some good polishing especially with it’s menu and game pad support would make later parts of Sharp much easier.

Although nowhere near as solid as similar titles like Silver Chains, Sharp’s four hours is worth the elbow-grease but sadly not its asking retail.

Sharp is not just another foreign walking simulator remixing assets as there is some sophistication to it’s game play and efforts in presentation and voice-acting but Sharp also isn’t enjoying the Playstation 2 era it replicates where low calibur productions easily barked up eBay bids beyond the fifty dollar mark.

Affordable Cat, kinda sounds like something you’d type in the search engine for pet lovers. But anyhow, this dev came up with Martha (MRT) his first published game about a deranged granny hell bent on knocking your teeth out at intermittent intervals! Its price point (a buck cheaper on itch.io btw) and length reminded me of Chilla’s Art titles and stocked with a plethora of horror references to seal the deal! Finally, a person of culture!!

I like the game, a few nice scares, overall spooky atmosphere, a few puzzles mixed in and with some combat here and there aswell. All in all a sweet little horror game, that all Indie horror game fans should enjoy, especially for this price.

I would however wish that i had a constant light source. I know.. Darkness is scary, But I also enjoy looking at my environment.

But that aside. Thanks for this little fun gem. Recommended.
