Greyhat - A Digital Detective Adventure
This game ties if not usurps The Return of the Obra Dinn as my favorite game of all time. I’ve played hundreds of games on Steam and PS4, nearly all of them critical darlings, of all genres and scopes. Alphabetically in my library, it sits between Gorogoa and Guacamelee, and after this, Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 is next in my queue.
While not trying to spoil anything, I recommend this game to pretty much anybody without reservation, worth every penny of its asking price - but most especially those that actively seek out games of this genre like Obra Dinn and to a lesser extent like Unheard that tickle the brain a little they way a detective or point-and-click adventure game might. Hell even if you like the Ace Attorney series of games, there’s something in here for you too. Far from perfect and I have my critiques, but to be honest my library is full of these faux hacker puzzle/detective games but none are as creative, polished, or fleshed-out or quite frankly as affecting as Greyhat. The “a-ha” moments here are the most rewarding and feel most earned here and for example chatting and “tunneling” elements are two examples of how the devs going out of their way to nail the feeling of being a clandestine keyboard warrior furiously typing messages or lines of code. Were I to say more I’d worry about revealing spoilers.

Detective Di: The Silk Rose Murders
Recommended, with some reservations
The case for
Detective Di: The Silk Rose Murders is a murder mystery game, so the first, most important question should be: is the mystery engaging? And it is, which is why it earns my thumbs up. The plot is intriguing and the pace is generally good all throughout the game. It tells several short stories, with an overarching plot connecting all of them and ending on a satisfying conclusion.
The case against
When compared with other murder mystery games, like the Gabriel Knight, Sherlock Holmes or Laura Bow series, in Detective Di there’s surprisingly little detectiving to do. There’s a clue board that fills up as you uncover relevant information, but you don’t have to actually figure out what clues are relevant or how they connect, as the game does all of this automatically, and once you reach the end of the chapter and the board is full Magistrate Di will make all the connections himself and explain his conclusions to you. All the actual detective work in the game is done automatically.

In the world of criminal justice, violent cases are a maddeningly high statistic. The commitment of a crime with no answer or reason is especially damning to the people assigned to the case, and those who are affected by the shock waves of the act. With each passing year, expanding technology has given officers the chance to limit these cases. But technology has not achieved its true end goal: having the opportunity to see and understand these crimes in detail through the victim’s eyes. At least, not yet.

I liked the game. Nice art, music, story, writing, and the choices are meaningful. You get to solve a mystery and there are multiple endings. The story seems like a sequel might be planned and that would be fun. It’s under two hours but I’m keeping it because it’s good. You should play it! It’s fun and pretty dark at times.

Placebo Love
A beautiful game about different forms of love. For those who like games focused on the story more than the gameplay, this is definitely a game you will love. It has a casting of very touching characters, and I found myself loving each one of them at the end of their bonds, even though I hated some at the beginning. They are very well written, and each of them brings a particular touch to the story. The plot remains interesting all along, making you theorize more than you’d think you would at first.

This is a game I have enjoyed playing.
Gameplay: It’s an interactive decision-making VN type game, with little action and lots of text. If you enjoy good plot and characters, then this is a great game.
Graphics: The in-game graphics are exactly as they appear in the trailer and screenshots. I personally like it.
Audio: Very good soundtrack; I listen to it a lot. There’s a lot of really sweet music and it doesn’t get boring.
Story: 10/10, no spoilers. Each character has their own story and many of them connect to each other; the game is very well written.

The Secret of Retropolis
Disclaimer: I was given a copy for free as I was involved in the beta testing for the Steam version.
The game was successfully enjoyed with an Oculus Quest 2 headset and Airlink.
The Secret of Retropolis is a classic point & click adventure game in VR that puts you in the pants of a robot detective that is hired by a famous movie star to retrieve a stolen necklace. The story will evolve in unpredicted ways in the classic style of a film noir.
Let’s get the elephant out of the room, it’s a short experience and it will not require more than 1h30 for a first playthrough.

Don’t call it outdated – it’s retro! Point and click adventures are back in the charming, tongue-in-cheek film noir “The Secret of Retropolis.”
The Good:
1. Art/Style – Put simply, Retropolis is a bundle of cel-shaded panache that feels like someone took all the best parts of the artistic styles of Metropolis, Futurama, and the classic LucasArts SCUMM engine point and clicks, brought to life in VR. The “film within a film” cutscenes are a particular standout in terms of presentation.

Kathy Rain: Director’s Cut
Welcome to crazy town
Kathy Rain Director’s Cut is a re-release of the original game with slight enhancements and bonuses.
The game is great and owners of the original got a good discount but still it would’ve been nice to make this a free upgrade. There’s not enough enhancements or new content to justify the price.
Story and gameplay are things which makes this game awesome.
Kathy is a troubled young woman living with her christian roommate. Kathy’s mother is locked up in a mental institution, she smokes and has a bike. A very lovable character with amazing sense of humor and the whole story about her is just amazing. The game starts with a funeral and since then Kathy embarks on a journey to dig some stuff about her family’s past.

Kathy Rain is a point n click adventure set in the 90s but with modernized controls over the early classics that we love.
The story, characters and dialogues are very good. The puzzles aren’t too hard but are pretty fun and creative. So if you love point N click but feel rusty over the puzzle solving this game is excellent to come back. The truth is that this game is a must play for every point N click lover or jst anyone who wants to dive into the genre.
This director’s cut edition is the definitive way to play it. Fix everything and adds new content. Also if you have played the original around four years ago like me, you’ll enjoy replaying this edition.

Sacred Fire: A Role Playing Game
Where to start?
I do not write many recommendations (almost never), but this game deserves one.
Please ignore all and any negative rating, because this is a game in it’s early days.
ABOUT THE GAME:
This game is one of a kind. As a gamer that focus on RPG genre I would say this is an untold gem.
The creator of the game created a wonderful world, with an exciting story line, interesting characters, and what most amazing are the real world and life choices you have to make.
Unlike other games which focus on loot, leveling up, etc.. THIS game focus on the spirituality and morality of one’s very soul. You are faced with choices that sometimes leave you breathless as there is no good choice. Other times, you will make a choice and the way things unfold will surprise you in disbelief.

TL;DR - Clunky UI and Easily manipulated dialog/combat check system. Too many statistics that have no discernible impact on game-play. Good story telling and choices actually matter.
So far I’ve played this game a bit, I’ve gotten through the content for the first act relatively quickly. Take your time with the choices you make and think carefully about them as they WILL affect the rest of your play-through. Some choices completely change what story elements you see and will entirely remove various story branches. You character does not have plot armor, you can and will die if you make stupid choices.
