Contradiction - Spot The Liar!
This is a FMV detective & mystery game developed by Baggy Cat, created thanks to a kickstarter campaign. Since I love detective games and tv-shows I decided to give this one a go. This is a lovecrafted masterpiece, great from start to finish. I’m gonna try to explain why.
You play as detective Jenks, investigating a girls suicide in an english village. Mysteries surrounding the suicide quickly leads to a murder investigation. Jenks only have a day to solve the mystery. He quickly finds out about a private school for adults called Atlas that uses some questionable methods, and you learn more and more as you go. Every chapter is an hour in the game, but every chapter took me more then an hour each. It’s a pretty tricky game, but you can use clues if you get stuck.

TL;DR: It’s a very fun and interesting game,
! with a very, very, VERY bad (and extremely) unsatisfying ending
I’m probably very late to the “reviewing contradiction” party (what a weird party), the game being almost 6 years old now and having been talked about in the ExtraCredits YouTube channel (the reason why I bought it in the first place!), but I’m gonna have a go at it anyways.
Contradiction is an FMV game where you must investigate in one night a supposed suicide in a small village. The investigation is done almost entirely by talking to people (i.e. watching small bits of questioning), though some evidence is found by walking and snooping around (in fact, I’m no lawyer or law-enforcement officer, but I feel like a quite a few of the evidence found wouldn’t be admissible in court!) But the main aspect of the game is asking people about things, which can directly lead you to new evidence, but will always lead to a set of statements from each person. This is where the main mechanic of the game comes in: you can select two statements (they must be from the same person though, hold this for later) that contradict each other and if they do, indeed, you get a new line of questioning where detective Jenks brings up the contradiction to the person in question, usually leading to new evidence. When you reach key milestones in the investigation, the time moves forward, and some new witness can become available (or unavailable), and going certain places can unlock certain events that can give you new evidence to ask around about.

L.A. Noire
Great game with a unique premise. The facial animation is used to determine if a witness/suspect is telling the truth or lying. The voice acting is solid and the cases are based on real life cases of the era. The developers researched how police investigations were done in the 40s and it shows.
Sadly, I can’t recommend this game as you require a connection to RockStar’s Social Club. After 30+ hours of playing the game stops connecting to the SC. That means it wont' launch. I’ve reinstalled the game but still I can’t connect to the SC. Such a shame too. It was good while it lasted. I’d avoid this entirely.

Buyer beware.
I have bought the Complete edition and it did indeed have all the content and DLC. However in 2019 I had to uninstall to make room for other games, and here I am in 2021 trying to reinstall it, only to find that it only gives me some of the content.
It only gives me a couple of the patrol cases and the DLC that didn’t come with the original game and I found none of the regular game levels are there at all, which is odd as I had done most of them before I had to uninstall and still have trophies for them.

Detective Kobayashi - A Visual Novel
First of all, I am really fan of this type of games, for example Phoenix Wright, The Room, Danganronpa … So my review will have of some comparisons with those games.I will give my opinion about some themes that I consider important:
GRAPHICS:Anime style, they are good and you can remember many characters for having such a unique style.Maps are fine too. For me this is 7/10:They are Okey
MUSIC:This is not quite right for me.Some soundtracks listen when they finish and it is not very pleasant because it takes you a bit of experience to hear the same song starting, ending, empty space, starting …However the songs are not bad so 5/10

As a huge Phoenix Wright fan, I had craved a similar game in quite some time, and I had to play Detective Kobayashi. It looks good on a PC screen, the character designs and backgrounds are very pretty. The first stories are not too hard to figure out, but the main fun is the gags and dialogue. I play with the voice volume turned off, since I’m used to this type of game without voiceover, just with silly faces and upbeat music. And because I like to imagine what the characters sound like.
Apart from the detective main story, an extremely fun minigame is texting random people on the phone and talking to them about various topics. It does not influence the cases as far as I can tell, but it is neat world building and learning to know the main character. The conversations are different in each chapter, so I make sure to activate them all right at the beginning.

Interrogation: You will be deceived
Interrogation: You will be deceived
Interrogation: You Will Be Deceived, is an amazing Visual Noir Novel with a compelling cast of characters that complement the rich story-driven detective-noir experience really well.
Playing as a lead detective trying to solve small-time crimes, gathering evidence, interrogating suspects and putting all the pieces of the puzzle together, it seems like just another day at the job.

Okay so first, let me be clear. I ABSOLUTELY love nearly every aspect of this game! However, due to strenuous replays and a little bit of lack of guidance, the tediousness has far outweighed my enjoyment which is saying a lot as I've really enjoyed everything else. This review is spoiler free aside from game mechanic discussions (fail conditions)
Pros:
Story - The story is truly engaging. Nothing's worse than a visual novel with a bad story. Interrogation gives you the sense of every character whether you've met them briefly or if they're your go to partner on the task force.

I liked the idea of the little chicken, with a humor, just stay tuned to the details and look for clues, in the classic point-click style.

## Murder Diaries
An unusual idea, but at the same time very exciting. That's what make this game unique.
I mean content-plot, it is not just a short story. MOREOVER, while playing you are getting more and more new adventures. Our task is to collect some fragments of the story and finally investigate murder.
Pros: interesting plot, good graphic, well-chosen soundtrack
Cons right now can't be noticed by me, i might played too little time to notice them.
And to conclude, this game is something unusual, not like others one. Really good one to spend free time

Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments
I have played a couple of Sherlock Holmes games before so I decided to get the Sherlock Holmes bundle during a Steam sale.
I enjoyed the game very much but there is some frustration with the game as well.
First off as expected you are Sherlock Holmes you go around solving crimes with your trusted companion Dr Watson, you take cases that are offered from Inspector Lestrade of Scotland yard.
I like the set up of this game you have your home/base on Baker Street as expected even with Toby the dog and Mrs Hudson, your own room where you can change your looks or get a disguise.

_The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes series_ developed by Frogwares has been going on for more than a decade now. It’s had its ups and downs, but the general tendency was upwards. After Frogwares reached their peak in the previous game, _The Testament of Sherlock Holmes_, they decided it was time for a general refurbishment of the series. So they picked the last two games and put them into a mixer, along with _The Walking Dead_ (by Telltale), _The Cave_ and _L.A. Noire_. Can the result live up to this legacy? If you bear with me for a moment, then I will tell you.

## Conway: Disappearance at Dahlia View
It's a fun and interesting detective game.
Pros:
- good voice actors
- interesting rendering style, I love the subtle outline effect.
- compelling and fresh gameplay. Every scene had something new and interesting.
- probably the best lockpick mechanic in a game
Cons:
- I did find myself arguing out loud with the protagonist when he'd make blatantly wrong and biased observations, but after finishing the game I think that was an intentional character flaw to propel the narrative. It's just frustrating to feel trapped by bad decisions the character is making without my input.

The third entry in White Paper’s portfolio brings back wonderful _Ether One_ memories, not only because it references its setting a great deal, but especially because it shares the same approach to building its central character. Conway is the same type of main character you played in _Ether One_: he’s stubborn and determined and frail, especially frail, so frail that watching him on screen is almost painful: he can’t climb stairs, he blunders about from hotspot to hotspot, bumping into things and knocking stuff over all around him, he himself gets knocked out a few times during the investigation and you almost expect he won’t be up again, but being frail and moving clumsily mean nothing when you’re that stubborn and determined and he’s just as set on solving the case as Thomas Fletcher was on sorting out his mind in _Ether One_.
