Death Rattle - Hell Unleashed

Death Rattle - Hell Unleashed

A fun game, running around killing all sorts of things. Quite like the campaign. All sorts of different ways to interact with the world. Things popping up all around you. Keeps you on the move and on your feet.

Definitely worth a couple of bucks

I am really enjoying this game!

At first glance I thought that this game seems really cool. The graphics are stunning, the crossbow looks cool, and the voice overs of the guards are done really well (especially the Captain). The tutorial/ training bit in the start is short enough to not be annoying, but it still teaches you the game fairly well. Once you finish the tutorial, you are surprised by a group of monsters, and when they spawn the music changes which is really cool and captivating. I also like that you can destroy some of the structures and even trees!

DON’T BUY if you expect Flatout!

I played Flatout: Ultimate Carnage and Flatout 2 a lot and some day I saw Flatout 3 on sale for around 5 $. Totally blinded by the awesomeness of the previous Flatout games by Bugbear I ran into this trap without checking what I was actually buying…

After playing maybe like 30 minutes I was really disappointed since I expected something like a worthy successor for Ultimate Carnage which Flatout 3 clearly is NOT. I uninstalled the game and considered this my worst game investment ever.

(Game was gifted to me by a friend, hence why I’m tagging it as having received the game for free.)

Having the (dis)honour of being one of few items on the Steam storefront to hold an “Overwhelmingly Negative” review score among Steam users, FlatOut 3: Chaos & Destruction is an absolute travesty of a FlatOut game, if not of a video game in general. One does not even need previous experience with the preceding titles in the series; even outside of comparisons to its vastly superior predecessors, FlatOut 3 falls flatout on its face.

Advantages:

1. The game is very funny! It’s so nice to destruct and burn everything around. I especially love when big explosions happen! Yes, there are big explosions!

2. Well, if you are afraid of spiders and don’t like them being near you, that’s your chance for sweet sweet revenge. I am so afraid of spiders, I genuinely panicked during first encounters, but then it got better and more fun! I kinda chilled a bit. I believe, it’s overestimating to call the game therapeutic aha, but I feel better in regards to my phobia.

A cathartic experience for us spider-haters out there

arachnophobia

/əˌraknəˈfəʊbɪə/

noun

extreme or irrational fear of spiders.

According to Wikipedia, arachnophobia affects around 3.5 to 6.1 percent of the global population. Out of 7.9 billion humans, that percentage equals a lot, making it one of the most common phobias out there. So what does this game do? It take that phobia, amplify it ten times, but at the same time they gave you an arsenal of weaponry that is enough to supply a small army. Welcome… to Kill It With Fire.

Shadows Behind the Throne 2

Shadows Behind the Throne 2

Remember “That Which Sleeps” the kickstarter game that promised that you could play as Cthulhu and corrupt the world and a million other things, but then the dev took the money and ran and never delivered.

Implausibly Shadows is not only the game that was promised, but it delivers. The graphics are a little off and the interface is a little confusing, but goddamn is it fun to corrupt and dismantle several civilizations until eternal winter falls upon the land. There is a lot of room to grow, and here is hoping it keeps growing.

Great game. It’s a bit like Ruinarch, if you’ve ever played that, except on a strategic level. Lots of variety in the ways you can take down a kingdom. Very replayable and it’s right up my alley.

That said, it’s EXTREMELY rough. As EA as you can get while still being playable.

  • Kind of a crap, poorly thought out UI. For example, saves are placed in alphabetical order instead of chronological order where your most recent one is at the top. You might have 7 autosaves, and the one you’re looking to load is save number 3, halfway down the screen and you have to look at the time to know that’s the one you want. I called my manual save aaa, so it will be at the top of the list. That’s a small thing, but there are a lot of poorly designed UI functions like that and it impacts the level of information you get from the game.

Red Faction®: Armageddon™

Red Faction®: Armageddon™

Short game, but tons of fun. The weapons are some of the most unique I’ve ever come across, and are worth the purchase of the game. The game itself is narrow and linear, with awesome graphics (DX11) and decent voice-acting. Get it on sale and get ready for a fun 10 or so hours.

Installed size on hard drive (all DLC): 9 GB

You can view the opening of game here .

This time around, we are playing as Darius Mason, son of Jake Mason (from the film Red Faction: Origins), and grandson of Alec Mason (Red Faction: Guerrilla). The terraformer has been destroyed, driving all of Mars' human residents underground. But even deeper inside the Mars crust lies an alien threat. If that sounds Red Faction: Armageddon has ventured into B-movie / game territory, you’d be right. It’s a linear shooter, with some fantastic weapons (magnet gun! though the Napalm Laser is another favorite) and decent atmosphere and graphics. While I suppose much of Armageddon has been done before, it’s done well here. So well that I was disappointed when the game ended that there wasn’t more to it.

The Red Faction franchise got its start in 2001, with the original title seeing critical success on numerous levels; making it an instant, must-play classic. While 2002 saw the second game released, further development in the series was halted until 2009, when fan-favorite destruction sandbox Red Faction: Guerrilla saw the light of day. Although the Red Faction IP was sold to Nordic Games after the unfortunate demise of THQ, no information has surfaced regarding new entries into the series. Therefore, 2011’s Red Faction: Armageddon will have to do.

Fly in the House

Fly in the House

Fly in the House is a silly physics game built around… as you might have guessed… killing a fly. Contrary to its name, you do not always kill a fly in a house. There are other unlockable levels including an office and a castle interior.

The Good

  • PREMISE - Fun, funny and ridiculous, throwing stuff around to kill a fly is a lot of fun

  • EASTER EGGS - Achievements and findable “easter egg” objects encourage exploration.. and smashing stuff to find loot.

  • STORY - Or lack thereof. The creator of the game has passed off some semblance of a story. Each level starts with the protoagonist recollecting some important moment of his life, retelling the story in his head, before becoming distracted by a fly buzzing around. To my surprise, it does actually lead somewhere.

Review originally posted at Apoch’s Metal Review .

Fly in the House is an independent First Person Shooter style Action Simulator by developer EmkeyGame (Mykhail Konokh), who was responsible for 2014’s Inside the Gear. Unlike that physics-based puzzler, this new outing finds you doing what we all find to be one of the most frustrating events in our lives: Killing a fly that somehow got inside. It’s a small game that has been picked up by KISS Ltd. for digital distribution in March of this year. But is this follow-up outing worth the price, or is it far more infuriating than the real thing happens to be?
