Microsoft Maquette

Microsoft Maquette

Very useful app for development, creation, ideation and creative expression. Finally feel like I found the app that works with my brain to explain my thoughts and ideas quickly and more effectively than paper.

Great user tools like snaping, precise movement, copy and paste. The basics are great but it also has SUCH a good UI that it makes the user experience very pleasing.

One of the few VR creative apps that has a save button too. Which is reassuring because while it’s a great app there are some crashes that occur but the app recovery and saving means you won’t lose much work if you are diligent like in any other project based software you use.

This is my go to first port of call for spatial design as a full time VR Designer, when I am working out the fundamentals.

It will spark new ideas, make you test your asssumptions in situ and I can’t imagine life without it anymore. Being able to grab stuff from poly lets you work up a high fidelity version of what you’re making right off the bat in most cases, avoiding the need to really model much from scratch.

The Major downside, the one that will prevent widespread industry adoption until it’s fixed is that you can’t really export stuff reliably. I can’t think of a situation where I won’t be using a mixture of elements from Poly and things I’ve made myself, and you can only export the models right now as the Google poly colors don’t export. This doesn’t make it very good for getting buy in on your ideas or giving somebody a flavor of the end result by delivering a worked up concept. you obviously also can’t communicate much of your visual design without color either.

Wandering Through The Vines

Wandering Through The Vines

I got the chance to beta test this game and help improve it, these are my thoughts.

First of all I want to say the art style for this game is really unique and pleasing to look at while your jumping your way across the levels.

On that note the character designs are really interesting and I have no idea how they were thought up lol.

The difficulty is quite enjoyable after you get used to the controls.

It’s also quite enjoyable after you beat a level ( feels like beating a hard Dark Souls boss ).

It is really difficult but enjoyable would be great as a game played with friends (taking turns it is only single player) or as a stream

The graphics are cool

I love the jumping mechanic it is very fun to have a touch sensitive jump so i can very its height. The controls are solid

I hope the dev keeps up the hard work. they have a cool vision that i really can’t wait to see come to fruition. I wish you the best of luck this game already has more potential than a lot of AAA games.

My Jigsaw Adventures - A Lost Story

My Jigsaw Adventures - A Lost Story

Awesome Jigsaw Puzzle game with beautiful artworks (every puzzle was a pleasure to complete, and I love the nature theme), interesting story and great soundtrack!

I also really like that everyone can decide for themselves how to play the game: you can choose what the background should look like, how many pieces you want (I found that for me, 220 pieces is the perfect amount - not too hard if you have no idea what the picture looks like and not too easy), what shape the pieces should have and if you want the picture and puzzle grid displayed or not.

My Jigsaw Adventures - A Lost Story is the sequel to MJA - Roads of Life. However, they are separate stories and you can play them out of order. Took me around 15 hours to complete and get 100% achievements using a mouse (13ish hours on the bulk of it, extra time on the bonus puzzle). Difficulty is easy, with bigger puzzles and differently-shaped pieces if you want more challenge.

  • This game comes with 20 story puzzles, 15 special puzzles, and one super special puzzle.

  • There are two modes. One is Normal, and one is Challenge. Challenge sets a timer and you win crowns if you beat it under a specific time.

Overall, this was a very enjoyable little puzzle game. I found the puzzle artwork beautiful and engaging. There was a pretty even mix of busy, colourful art and neutral landscapes. The implementation of a story linking the puzzles together provided some added depth to the game without being overbearing or distracting from gameplay. The plot premise for the story (searching for a lost love) isn’t really of interest to me, but the story development focused heavily on showcasing setting, which really put life into the story and tied it to the visuals.

I tend to play a lot of digital jigsaw puzzle games, I came across this one a couple weeks ago or so and instantly appreciated the art style. Now that I purchased it, I can say I don’t have any regrets and I will be getting episode 2 soon enough; most likely after I complete this one.

✔ Gorgeous pictures. Smooth control. Pieces snap together as well as to grid.

Options to display grid and/or image in the jigsaw frame while working on the puzzle.

2 modes; normal (relaxed) and challenge (timed+limited hints)

Quiet as a Stone

Quiet as a Stone

The game is well done and though super simple and even limited in the actual gameplay (can’t save maps you’ve developed, no!real goal other than just clearing the landscape searching for magical stones). But despite the games limitations, it’s easy gameplay and simplicity are actually addicting. Tried it for the first time today and when I’d stopped it was 3 hours later! LOL Only three downfalls I see are that you can’t save maps, can’t create a map from scratch, and there needs to be a gamma control as the game is predominently dark and its difficult to see the landscape clearly. Hopefully the developer will add some updates. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a relaxing experience that only costs pennies.

Love the concept and the calm vibes, its very beautiful and relaxing! I do wish there were more variation in landscapes though, I imagine it gets same’y quite fast. Different climates and plants would have been fun! It is also much too dark, with no way to adjust the lighting up (as far as I can tell). Sometimes I cant see whats going on at all, its literally just pitch black, lol.

There are also some minor issues, like street lamps cant be picked up again once you place them.

-KLAUS- : I’m addicted to this story now

Klaus is the first game by La Costa studios depicting Klaus who tries to find who he is and why he’s here. With first time releases always come hiccups so has La Costa managed this and made an instant banger first try? In my opinion yes, incredibly so! While it’s not perfect it’s done a remarkable job. Either read the full review or just take a quick look below.

Pros:

✅ Incredible story, one of the best I’ve seen in a long time

Klaus

Overview

Klaus is an endearing and unusual puzzle/platformer that has just the right amount of difficulty to reward you for your efforts. It’s bursting with charm and boasts an unusual story telling system. The plot unfolds through a series of small and often humorous one-line sentences displayed within the game play area. Whilst a lot of these statements are jokes and flippant remarks, they also slowly reveal the story behind Klaus and his search for the truth behind his origins.

Not a great puzzle game, but a good one

Jetstream looks great and sounds great. Very clean presentation.

Puzzle-wise, the problem is that it’s a little too easy to resort to trial-and-error. The easy-undo with Z is great, but the number of possible movements that aren’t obviously wrong is so finite that you can basically brute-force every puzzle. And the solutions are often so fiddly that you’ll be strongly tempted sooner or later; even knowing what the solution would entail, I often found the required movements very unintuitive. Occasionally the correct answer “clicked,” but I would say that was less than half of the time.

A casual, alright mobile game puzzler, but there’s nothing outstanding about it, and you’ll be done with it in only several hours. I’d only recommend it at a third of its asking price.
