Dead Estate
I think it speaks to the strength of this game that I got the true ending with a broken run before I unlocked all the characters and I’m taking a break to write this review before going back in again.
Dead Estate is a fun little isometric roguelike akin to an Enter the Gungeon or diamond shaped Isaac. You go in, fight enemies, pick up weapons and items, die to bosses, unlock new stuff, rinse and repeat. I don’t really need to tell you the basics of this kind of game. There are multiple playable characters with their own default weapons, stats and strengths/weaknesses. I will give it to them, once you start heading away from the starting characters they do come up with some pretty unique gimmicks. Gotta say, the one involving money is a personal favorite.

As someone who really didn’t care for the genres gold standards “Binding of Isaac” and “Gungeon” i just thought that maybe this style wasn’t for me. Then i saw this game and something clicked as i started to play. It was actually fun, not just in the gameplay sense but in how it handles it’s own presentation. Everything is vibrant and colorful being overall very pleasing to look at, the characters and stages all have a level of charm and personal touches that make them stand apart, and the music is fairly simple but charmingly retro and fits very well with the tone of the game. Add to all that a wholesome and strange story that you will continue to discover through multiple runs and you have the recipe for one of the best Twin-Stick Rougelikes in the genre. The game is worth every penny and with the promise of more content to come I honestly cannot recommend this game enough.

It Steals
So far I’ve only made it to shutter mode but I adore this game, the overall atmosphere is so cool and creative & the gameplay is simple but rewarding. A+
edit: hi, about a year later and i wanted to add to my review! I still, amazingly, haven’t made it past living walls mode (not for lack of trying) but this is honestly one of my favorite games of all time, very special. It strikes the perfect balance of having very minimal mechanics while still being HARD and enjoyable in a way that u wanna keep working at it til u win. and honestly, what’s better than being chased down a hallway?

PLAY BY THEIR RULES OR DIE BY THEM.
This game has a way of slowly revealing its secrets to you. In a way a spiritual successor to Slender, It Steals drops you into each gamemode with very little information, and it’s up to you to infer what actions will let you survive and what will cost you. The gameplay is extremely tense, the AI will constantly keep you on edge in any of the available gamemodes, and the secrets will keep you coming back for more. It’s a steal of a price, and more content may be coming yet. 10/10.

ETERNAL BLOOD
This game is amazing. I love that it is an real time aim trainer and movement simulator. This has helped my movement and aim in so many FPS games. I have nothing negative to say about it.
The ONLY thing I would like to see is maybe, Ice and Electric abilities, and maybe 3 skills trees. one for each type of ability, other than that. Phenomenal :)

Eternal Blood is intense fast-paced shooter, wich reminds me heavily of Serious Sam.
The further you progress, the harder it gets to survive because of enormous amounts of enemies on the screen.
To survive the horde, you should collect souls that drop from dead enemies and “towers” that spawn them.
(this is your only one reliable way of healing)
At a time of writing this there is only 3 ways of attack:
Fireball at M1
Charged Fireball with splash damage at M2
And to prevent you from overwhelming ammounts of enemies there is magic splash around your character on middle mouse button

The Night of Joe
You have been so nervous, holding your CV in your hand for a job you need but don’t really see yourself doing. After the interview (that went horrible) you went to the bathroom to “refresh”, and you ended up falling asleep…When you woke up you still had this weird dream in your mind about a guy in the clouds telling you to be careful and giving you something…was it a flashlight?
Strangely you realize that it’s already night time and you’re alone in the supermarket. You’re holding the flashlight in your hand, thinking that you are still dreaming but it is reality.
Something strange is going on here…
While walking between the shelves looking for an exit you realize that you are not alone, something in the Night is hunting you.
Armed with your special flashlight, will you have what it takes to get out of the building?
-
Each time you die the location of some objectives are randomized.
-
Find and activate electric panels to then take the escalators and go on the next level.
-
Stop the monster with the special mode of your flashlight, but be careful it uses more battery and you will be defenseless in the dark.
-
Survive the Night.
-
No gore.
-
Meet Joe’s special humor.

A really compelling game, I started it up to see what the deal was and immediately lost half an hour to it.

The game is very easy to pick up and play, and for the most part the gameplay is easy to understand. There are a few things that are frustrating to me playing this game, though.
After defeating a boss, if you haven’t taken any damage, you get an option to shuffle around some of your stats. I’ve gotten options like “+30 HP & -30 HP” multiple times, which is incredibly frustrating because it makes one of your options useless. There is another power up called “Lucky Items” that is supposed to give you more stat boosts in the game, but I never noticed any difference when I got it.

Age of Fear 2: The Chaos Lord GOLD
My friends on steam know that I have to completely love a game, or absolutely hate it, to bother with a review. Unfortunately that surprise is ruined by the thumbs up spoiler they put on these reviews. All I can do to make up for that spoiler, is tell you what you will be getting yourself into with this title. Bear in mind, this game is a trilogy and I have only played this installment (What can I say, I love Chaos on Warhammer, and the succubus looks like that girl all of us took home after drinking a case of beer, but you wake up next to the orc, so…..)

It has been a while I didn’t write a serious review of a game. It also has been quite some time before the last time I had fantastic experience of an old-school strategy game. Strategy games are the victims of the long misleading direction of the development of the video game industry. Now the old-school indie & strategy games get so little attention is a sad story of ‘graphic does matter’ problem which I strongly disagree.
I was dying to see a marvelous old-school chess types of game back onto steam and never thought it would be possible until Age of Fear 2 has come.
