Dominion

Dominion

Always heard about the boardgame but never had the chance to play it and now that i did I can see why it’s so popular!

The DA is very well done: plays smooth, good sfx, AI feels solid (haven’t tried Hard yet though). The game has already -I think?- all of the the expansions available that can be played in a 1v1 against AI or with another player online.

I must say this is very polished already for being EA for less than two weeks!

As per how stability goes, I played 3 games with a friend yesterday and we only got two freezes/crashes but we could keep playing by simply restarting the game: no game-breaking bugs found yet.

A very faithful adaptation of the famous evolutionary card game. The first one that found the concept of deckbuilding during the game. Many other games followed this inspiration, such as Star Realms, Ascension, War of Omens, for the main ones. If you know of any others, please respond.

This is a concept not to be confused with these two:

  • Deckbuilding before the game, the player builds a deck (example: Magic the Gathering).

  • Deckbuilding during the game, without being able to swap cards, during a quest (example: Slay the spire).

What is this game about?

Pleasantly surprised with this one. Considering its size, it packs a solid punch.

So, the gameplay:

You are a hero that is tasked to overcome evil. You go unto linear missions each consisting of a few encounters. In those encounters you fight several enemies with special abilities that form a sort of puzzle of deciding who to prioritizes first.

Inkulinati

Inkulinati

Inkulinati is an ink-based strategy game straight from medieval manuscripts, where a rabbit’s bum can be deadlier than a dog’s sword.

Take your turn in Inkulinati duels filled with unexpected tactical depth (and humour!). Embark on an ever-changing journey, build your own bestiary, defeat medieval superstars and collect perks to unleash special powers.

Become a master of the Living Ink, grab your quill and build your unique strategy time after time so that you can be named the greatest Inkulinati of all time!

INKULINATI IS INSPIRED BY REAL-LIFE MEDIEVAL MARGINALIA

700 years in the making, finally these bizarre art pieces can come alive in a video game and show that medieval people also had their “memes” and that they laughed from the same silly things that we do today. You’ll see sword-wielding rabbits, dogs with spears, trumpets lodged in bottoms, human-eating snails, and more. Much, much more…

FIGHT LIKE AN INKULINATI

Inkulinati are a legendary group who battle one another on the pages of medieval manuscripts. They fight by drawing Beasts with the Living Ink. Thanks to this magical substance, those creatures come to life and an epic battle ensues.Move your Beasts across the battlefield, perform actions on or with them, make tactical use of obstacles and collect more Living Ink to draw new Beasts which allows you to gain an advantage over your opponent.

MULTIPLE DEADLY (AND BIZARRE) BEASTS TO UNLOCK

Donkeys playing trumpets with their bottoms, bishop cats vanquishing heretics with prayers, heavy but deadly snails that eat units alive, and more. Much, much more. They all have their special skills and are waiting for your command.

SPECIAL, BATTLE TIDE-TURNING ACTIONS PERFORMED BY THE INKULINATI

It’s not just your Beasts that can cause havoc and damage. Use your fists to smash your opponent’s units, draw obstacles to create barriers, relocate your units with a move of your finger, or explode your troops to create pure, pure chaos. Just remember - your opponent can do it too.

ADAPT YOUR TACTIC TO EVERY BATTLE

Each Inkulinati has its own army, with different Beasts, who in turn, have different abilities, strengths, and unfortunately, weaknesses (or fortunately - depending which side you’re on). But it’s not just the armies that can influence who will win any given duel. Each Battlefield is its own domain, with its own particular dangers that you should watch out for, and opportunities that you can use. You will have to use your wits and adapt your strategy to beat the opposing Inkulinati’s army on each specific Battlefield.

A SINGLE-PLAYER CAMPAIGN

Uncover the mystery and secrets of Inkulinati and face such opponents as Death, Dante Alighieri, and more. Go out into the world and start your adventure! Fight the biggest Inkulinati masters in the land, tame the untamed Beasts, build your ultimate army, try to bring back your Master from the clutches of death, and most importantly, finish your grand quest with the biggest party that the middle ages have ever seen! Howza!!!

CREATE AND DEVELOP YOUR OWN CHARACTER

As any aspiring Inkulinati Master, you will get to create your own Tiny-Inkulinati. During your journey you will learn the secret techniques of drawing new Beasts and Inkulinati Hand Actions, allowing you to choose the composition of your army. You can be a brave knight that has no fear and will send his loyal troops straight at his opponents. Or perhaps you would like to play with a bit more tact? In that case, you can be a nun who with the power of prayer can confuse her enemies and heal thy own servants. Those styles, and more, are waiting to be discovered and made your own. Express yourself!

EVERY BATTLE HAS ITS OWN STORY

To mark every battle in history books for all future generations to see, a procedurally generated text describes the dramatic (or hilarious) events in detail just above the battlefield.

LOCAL PVP BATTLES

Inkulinati will bring you back to the Golden Era of hot-seat mode.

This game is way too addictive weirdly enough, there’s already so many things in the game (as of posting this it isn’t fully released) you can almost never get bored, after loading it up for the first time I played 8 hours straight of the game!

great little game, with lots of potential, a little buggy when it comes to the enemy ai and spawning but otherwise amazing. Hexagons are just perfect for star fortress fun

Even though the early game may be boring, the game allow for in-depth strategy and planning, with gradual unlocks over time which allows for you to plan ahead with better starting teams and permits for you to build larger teams during the runs, while also increasing the maximum difficulty with each complete run.

I got the opportunity to play this throughout the beta recently. I was new to the deck building genre, but not roguelikes, and have thoroughly enjoyed the game. It is certainly plenty difficult for me and Jinny has been incredibly receptive to feedback on balance and UI/UX changes. The English localization is still a work in progress, but its not bad by any means.

Definitely recommend if you enjoy the genre.

Card Crawl

Card Crawl

Card Crawl is a really good casual, card based video game. It’s easy to learn and enjoyable to play. There are two things that make Card Crawl great: First, playing a full game doesn’t take long. A full game averages maybe five minutes. Second, this is a game that is a lot more tame when it comes to the difficulty. This is not another frustrating/rage inducing game. Success in Card Crawl depends on what cards you are dealt, and how you choose to play them. There is some strategy involved and you do have to think about how you want to play your cards. There are also a lot of special ability cards that you can unlock as you continue to play and get better. The game’s randomness with regards to what cards you are dealt, and which special ability cards are also randomly chosen for you, provide tremendous replay value for Card Crawl. There are also extra gamemodes and characters that can be unlocked as well. This is a game that can be enjoyed in both short play sessions and long play sessions. There’s also a mobile version available for Android (on Google Play), and for iOS (on the App Store). Card Crawl is definitely one of the very best card based video games that there is. For a game that costs so little, you get so much in return. Card Crawl is great if you like casual games and/or card games. I highly recommend it!

Very fun, well crafted, simple game hampered by its unnecessarily grindy quest/unlock system.

You play against a random deck drawn from a fixed set of cards 49, and you get to choose 5 “ability” cards to mix in for a total of 54. The ability cards are fun, but you’re heavily reliant upon the luck of when they show up.

You unlock more ability cards with credits you earn as you play. Credits earn decently fast and you can read card descriptions before you pick which one you want to unlock, so earning them is not bad at all.

Not a bad game for 2-3 evenings, but pretty bugged in some missions (some cards don’t work correctly).

I’m board game enthusiast. The game really has a “board game feel” to it. Never played the physical version, But it looks similar from videos I watched. In fact never heard of the game before it popped up in my suggestions. Love the deck building and resource management aspect. Not much reviews so far for the game.

Only still in the “tutorial” section (8 first missions). Like it very much so far…

失落的王座 The Lost Throne

失落的王座 The Lost Throne

What is this game about?

“The Lost Throne” is a trading card game with great world settings. There are various featured mechanics and designs, like unique battle phase after several turns, cost deductions, front and back formations, etc. Besides, we will be developing other modes like tournament system, single PVE, co-op PVE, special PVP and so on.

Why TCG?

This is one of the most frequently asked questions, why choosing TCG as our first game? Although this genre has many predecessors and verified features to learn from: deck building, card trading, different strategies. However, it is still challenging to produce good card designs, balancing and trading models.

Our team is young, and this is our first game. Our team is consist of experienced TCG players and well-known pro players. We aim to provide a solid game with our past experiences for TCG players, while letting other players feel the attractiveness of TCG.

Concepts of Designs

Gameplay is definitely the key of our design. We aim to produce a highly original competitive game with unique player experience. Therefore we devoted many thoughts into the game.

Thoughts on Interaction: How to avoid long waiting time for each turn.

Thoughts on turn-based game: How to balance going first and second.

Thoughts on card designs: How to make troops more “heroic”, rather than expendables.

Our main focus is all about “strategies”, including deck building, unit deployment, battle phase plans. For each phase, players' strategies will be colliding with each other, which is our main idea for the game. It is also what makes “The Lost Throne” unique.

What we’ve been doing in past two years?

We paid much price for the “setback” in 2020. But we also gained many experiences. Therefore our team has entered “Saiyan Mode” this year. We redo the UI, improved game performances, porting to mobile, and make the alpha version of tutorials.

In other words, what didn’t kill us made us stronger. We are now march at full scale!

About our future plans

We have launched our alpha test for mobile version. After the 2 weeks test, we knew two things: Accepetable gameplay, but too many bugs.

Although there is still much to improve for our gameplay, players are still satisfied with our current designs, which is really cheering for us. Thank you for you tolerance and support! There are still many bugs existing, which require many adjustment to our underlying system. Therefore we really need some time to fix them. Also our designers have been discussing and rethinking about the details and possible improvements to our battle phases.

Overall, our future plan includes the improvement to our entire Battle phase, Tutorial refurnishment, PVE alpha version, Tournament systems, and so on. Also we will keep improving the balancing for the current version, while designing the second version. Of course, we will be posting our updates as dev blogs here and looking forward to your feedbacks and suggestions! Please follow us for more information.

Besides, we are planning to launch another community test at a smaller scale. Please feel free to join our steam community and we will be releasing more details within the community and QQ group.
