Deep Sea Valentine
the art and characters are cute and the story is simple but consistently well-written, though the gameplay can be a bit buggy and walking around can be tedious at times. still, it’s a cute game and i’d say it’s worth playing. some characters suffered from having less screen time, making their endings seem abrupt, and i think triche’s ending overall could be set up better. otherwise, liked it a lot.

Raptor Boyfriend: A High School Romance
Admittedly, I am really not one for visuals novels as a whole. Rather, I tend to be far more critical of any writing-focused media, which leads me to come across as hyper negative and critical about the works I am providing feedback on.
With that in mind, I hope this comes as a breath of fresh air because, much to my own surprise, I have been thoroughly enjoying this game.
The writing is fairly competent and many of its odd little quirks generally don’t stay too long passed their welcome. There are a couple of cringe-inducing moments, but they are either intentional or feel in line with the characters and setting involved. There is honestly not too much I could weigh in on here because I have the feeling the creators already have an adequate enough understanding of pacing given how little filler is present in the dialogue.

I was drawn in by the unique art style, especially for the genre, and prospect of dating a totally radical raptor and got fully invested.
Raptor Boyfriend is a rather goofy coming of age romance that is able to organically use its premise to tell a heartwarming story that also tackles serious issues. You may play a girl aiming to kiss a stunt performing prankster raptor but her social anxieties, his personal struggles and how their feelings for each other develop are very much real.
I played all the routes and while the episodic format can make each come off a little formulaic, the main love interests still have their unique conflicts, are all interesting and sincere, and every path is well-written. Nonetheless, the titular raptor boyfriend touched me the most emotionally to the extent that I found myself playing through his route repeatedly.

A very deep and meaningful story, some people are too quick on judging others for being different or what they wish to be. This is a one of a kind story I haven’t found any other visual novel as powerful as this one and I wished it got more recognition.

Kraken Academy!!
I’m still playing through the game so I will try to return to this review and update it upon completion!
So far, the game has been really fun! I love the soundtrack and the art style. The characters are all very quirky and unique, and I think the lil profiles you get in game are a nice addition. The mechanics of the game are interesting; I love the time travel and mystery solving aspect. I played on stream, so it was nice having other people help me because there are definitely lots of different details that you may miss on first pass.

The first day at the new academy turns for a shy guy not into a noisy party, but a quick collision with reality. And the academy is strange, and some bum is yelling at you, a huge talking Kraken is floating in the lake. Most importantly, now it is not your parents, but only you who manage your time. Literally. Making the time loop the main gameplay element is a very risky undertaking, but it worked out just fine. Returning to the past does not get boring, does not become some kind of foreign element for the grind of currency, but allows you to deeply feel the game concept, build complex secondary tasks, competently divide the game into chapters, while not formalizing it with banal inscriptions “Chapter 1, Chapter 2, etc. “. Because of this, the presentation of the plot feels so smooth, so crisp that there is simply no time to get bored, you are constantly in the center of events.

In a far off universe, a crew of drunken oddballs is headed to an alcoholics anonymous meeting. They decide to abandon the meeting to go to one of the crew member’s father’s luxurious motel to celebrate her birthday. Their ship is in major need of repairs, by some miracle (or their alcoholic stupor) they manage to make it to the motel. They get settled in and prepare for the celebration. What they don’t know is that a dark secret hangs over the motel owner, as the special ingredient to the most popular liquor in this universe is meat bags and brains. The servants are all robots that are chained and held prisoner; can they aid you? Or will they turn on you in this bizarre world you’re in. This adventure will have hard choices for you to make, and every action will change how your story plays out. The lives of your crew are at stake; who lives and who dies depends upon your choices.

The premise seemed cool and I was following it for quite a while. The anthropomorphic characters and retro sci-fi feel looked really promising and unique. The story was… a bit taxing, but in the end it turned out to be somewhat interesting! But after suffering through bugs, awful mechanics, and constant progression blockers, I just can’t get into it. The plot is very confusing and alien right off the bat, which is fine in itself, but you have to figure out most things via context clues as you’re flung into this world without anyone holding your hand, and are just expected to learn as you go.
