Great little experience, really enjoyed it. I would love to see this explored a little more. I recomend giving it a play, just make sure to check the cars hood / bonnet when you start, almost missed it :)

Thank you

so i figured a game for $3.99 can’t be very good. well, was i wrong! one of the best games i’ve played at any price, not based on anything but story and ending. those two things were perfect!

controls are very very simple, graphics ok. it took me 2.7 hours to finish, but i’m old, so….

there are a very few shock scares in the game, which actually gave me chills, once went all the way through me. if you pay attention to the subtle clues in the game, i’m sure you could finish it faster than i did.

Firstly, I didn’t realize this was a short promo game (that’s on me, of course, since I usually don’t read the game info before playing games). However, it still was a decent enough promo game. It definitely made me want to know more of the story. The story itself in this promo game was very brief (which is expected). The graphics are decent enough, I suppose. I did expect horror based from the user tags (which are always a hit or miss), but there isn’t any real horror, just a bit of suspense and dark themes (or a hint of a dark theme that involves possible

! incest/pedophilia, rather). So, definitely hope the next game lives up to the hype this game created.

This was a rather short game with beautiful graphics (hello? that flooring?). I didn’t understand any of it when I began. I purposely played this game without even looking at the description because I wanted to see how I’d feel while playing it. I felt extremely weirded out by all the bunnies, and skeptical of the casserole. All in all, it was short and interesting despite it’s simple controls and minimal dialogue. It seriously left me craving more of this story. I feel like the more I learned, the more I needed to know.

This game is the definition of helplessness. From the start, you are thrown into an eerily empty world filled with nothing but trees and impossible architecture. No one to hold your hand, just an ominous message subtly hinting you towards your goal. The game is oddly calming yet incredibly tense at the same time, which made it difficult for me to put a pin in any feeling in particular, making the experience much more frightening. The fear of the unknown is real in this game.

From a technical standpoint, the game runs smooth as butter. There’s a creepy glow and shine on the textures, and the graphics are really crisp. The overall gameplay loop is simplistic enough to understand rather quickly, but the game turns things around and takes the bit of familiarity you gain with your surroundings and completely throws it away, rendering you almost petrified to move into the dark. The sound design is superb, with low ambient drones and rumbles filling the environment, leading to scraping, horrifying sounds as you encounter enemies.

If you enjoy Vidas Games, then this is something you’ll like. If you don’t know who this is, then you may feel different. What I enjoy is the world you are place in. This includes the atmosphere present and the story shown. I enjoyed the environment, but the story felt like “Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time”. You walked a good two minutes to reach either end of the map in order to collect a total of three “Ancients”. Each had their own housing area with a jumpscare attack present. I would be fine with this if dying wasn’t so punishing. There is no save and you have to start from the beginning if you died at any moment. Dying extending my gameplay three times what it was meant to be. It’s scary to be chased and at times the area is unsettling, but that is it. It’s an okay game, but it has you walking a lot with the threat of starting over.

Really interesting game with captivating story.

Even though combat is a little simple, fighting giant Vikings did not get old. Puzzles were decent.

Where the game really shines is the story and superb acting of the main character.

Even the sidelore spread out through the game was a joy listening to.

Game feels rather short (10-ish hours) but that’s just me wanting more.

Worth it, even at full price (20Eur). Now it is 75% off and that is a really good deal.

Higurashi When They Cry Hou - Ch.1 Onikakushi

Higurashi When They Cry Hou - Ch.1 Onikakushi

First, a brief note to the uninitiated:

This is not a pleasant story, whatever the screenshots may have led you to believe. Beneath the veneer of a cheesy, run-of-the-mill school-comedy lies a cruel world of madness, terror, and violence. Major characters die routinely; sometimes on-screen, sometimes off, but never in a peaceful manner. Nonetheless, it is a highly compelling experience, and very rewarding if you can endure to the end of the series. If this intrigues you, feel free to read on, but those looking for nothing more than a stereotypical anime-harem-style rom-com would do well to look elsewhere. Higurashi may resemble that on a superficial level, but this is a series that delights in letting the reader think they know what is going on, even as it brings the façade crumbling down around them.

TLDR: The thumb is pointing up. That means good.

Important Information to Know

This game covers the first arc (Abducted by Demons arc, about 2 manga volumes long) of the story, while it says Ch.1 this game covers the first 4-5 episodes of the show and has something like 12 chapters in the game. This game is a visual novel with about 15 hours of reading. A visual novel is basically a book with relevant background music, sound effects, background art, and character art to enhance the reading experience.

Red Embrace: Mezzanine

Red Embrace: Mezzanine

Red Embrace: Mezzanine is a short (~1 hour or even less) free visual novel with point-&click elements, 2 endings rewarded with 2 achs. Unfortunately, for now the game has limited features, so those achs won’t appear on steam profile((

I’m sure even if someone didn’t play Red Embrace or Red Embrace: Hollywood the game will be interesting enough. I have almost nothing to complain about: visuals are great, music is perfect to set that gloomy mood, the writing is so potent dragging you deep into that dark atmosphere. That’s really amazing how that short story, maybe not even the whole story but some kind of prologue for the future game, can awake such powerful emotions. Really impressive!

As usual, fine. As usual, there is a light sadness after passing the game. And not only because the story itself is sad, because it concerns loneliness, loss and hopelessness, but because it shows us what we dream about at some point. We all probably dreamed that on some day someone (and preferably some handsome guy) would offer us to change our lives. But this did not happen.

It’s very nice that the story echoes Red Embrace: Hollywood. I am very glad that I somehow found Argent Games.

A pretty well made story about mental health it’s well written there’s not a ton of grammar/spelling mistakes which usually plague most RPG Maker games I’ve played so that’s a huge plus. The game does a great job of executing the narrative that some things you can’t come back from in a dark serious tone. Definitely enjoyed playing through it and all the best to the creator in his future games!

I absolutely adored this game, even after re-playing it numerous times (Cause I didn’t make enough save files originally lol) And I wanted all of the endings. It was such a masterpiece, especially for a free game. To be honest, I would have paid to play this game.

I wouldn’t recommend this game to anyone. While it has functionable gameplay, it has a major technical issue, a poor options menu, is short, and has a terribly uninteresting and vague story.

One of the biggest issues this game has is that it doesn’t save your progress. When I returned to the game, after saving and quiting, I found that the game hadn’t saved my progress which is why it took me 14 hours to beat the game when it should have taken five at most.

The game’s replayability is low. It has several levels, a few levels that are unlocked when you beat the game, and some gameplay modifiers that you can find in the campaign. I’d like to address quickly the supposedly creepy atmosphere this game has. It isn’t creepy.
