Balconing Simulator 2020

Balconing Simulator 2020

Overall it’s not terrible for what it is; a quick and silly little time-waster.

One thing I could point out is that you have very little control over the direction of your jump, which doesn’t really leave you with much influence on whether or not you land in the water.

This means that there isn’t much of a skill ceiling to this game, and you end up just jumping repeatedly until you get a good result.

It was entertaining enough for the time I spent with it, but I can’t imagine getting much more out of it.

An utterly ridiculous concept for a game, but a highly amusing one nonetheless!

Get drunk (or don’t, but then you don’t get multiplier points!), jump off a balcony and do your best to nail your very best landing in to the pool, assuming you even make it in the pool. If you want to do it with real style then aim to land in the rubber ring (I managed it in this video, eventually - https://youtu.be/gNOK_Q2LCiI )

Be prepared for some painful landings, some face plants and more. Trust me, after playing this game you’ll definitely NEVER consider doing this in real life. Hopefully you never were in the first place!

Manual Samuel - Anniversary Edition

Manual Samuel - Anniversary Edition

I would like to recommend this game, really, but the final act totally ruins the experience, bringing everything to a grinding halt for what is otherwise a humor and story driven game.

It’s got fair-to-ok humor, lots of jokes that reminded me of the old Diskworld games, especially with the narrator interactions. However the humor is clearly targeting men, as the jokes are mostly physical humor, denigration and toilet laughs. Samuel literally pisses all over himself, and repeatedly vomits as a function of the game, which often comes across as lazy humor.

What is Manual Samuel ?

For a game that started pretty well with a funny sense of humor and a nice personality, its a huge shame it felt so hard on its face, Manual Samuel presents itself as a overconfident indie game but everything is just so pretentious and kinda mediocre towards the end, in fact after the initial moments the game started losing momentum, for a game that presented itself as something refreshing and well-done early to become something so boring and uninsteresting so fast was a huge shame, lets talk about why below.

Surgeon Simulator 2

First of all, don’t expect this one to be very similar or samey-but-expanded to the first game. Tbh the first game explored all it could really in that format. This sequel had to take a different direction and break free from the fixed positions of the first one and become a much more open and varied game offering many more levels than the first but in a different way.

While the main Story Mode is relatively short and sweet, the real gem I find is in the Community levels, Competitive levels and my favourite, the Level Creator! This has to be one of the best Level Editors around, the stuff you can create in it are endless! And not necessarily restricted to just surgery based stuff, the only limit is your imagination! The Creator is incredibly easy to use and immensely versatile in the tools available to make your level really epic.

Surgeon Simulator

Oh Surgeon Simulator. It is one of those games that you will either love or hate with a passion.

This game is famous for many reasons but the main one is its controls. It makes the game incredibly challenging and it is why a lot of people are finding this game frustrating and not enjoyable.

The physics on everything is overly exaggerated. Combining this with the hilariously awkward arm controls means every movement you make is a recipe for disaster and some great laughs.

Since the original version, more surgeries were added, offering you a much more polished experience. They’ve also tightened the controls enough where the surgeries are actually beatable. Many secrets and Easter eggs were also included, my favorites being the Alien and Donald Trump surgeries that I found hilarious and fun. I’ve played for multiples hours already and the laughs haven’t stopped.

Long spoken of as myth, fairy-tale or merely the raving delusions of a mad man, an ancient and mysterious evil has awoken and proven itself a very real and dangerous threat to all in the once pleasant land of Infirmary. But there is yet hope as a band of unlikely heroes unite to vanquish this foe and send it back to the vile domain from whence it came. Play the roles of plucky Pinkie, the young but eager son of a blacksmith, Ring, the exiled princess trying to win back her rightful place as heir to the throne, the short-tempered Middle with a past shrouded in secrecy and an apparent score to settle, Thumb, the stoic and noble paladin sworn to defend the realm, and their brave leader Index, who together form the brotherhood of The Hand of Nigel, as they set forth on adventure in a world filled with peril at every turn.

Gone Golfing

Gone Golfing

Gone Golfing is one of those oddball horror titles that gets little to no fanfare. These kind of games can be a total crapshoot: spend the money and wind up with something incomplete that went through development hell, riddled with bugs and glitches, or find yourself with the alternative outcome: Gone Golfing.

In brief, Gone Golfing is a solid game. Although it varies from time to time, the primary focus is on trying to play a mini-golf game while a psychotic mascot hunts you down to kill you. The core game is enjoyable, though admittedly not the longest thing in the world. But the developer makes up for that in three ways: price, replay value and (free) add-on content.

Real player with 17.8 hrs in game

I love the surreal feeling to it, there’s a lot of what??? and just crazy things. It is both scary and calming at the same time, doing the mini golf feels calming and nice and then the contrast with Mr Golfy chasing you it is scary. I really like the world to be honest. It can be frustrating but that’s the challenge after all. Along with the escape mode and free christmas dlc, there is plenty to do. I would always love more, dev if you’re reading :P. But yes, this game has a unique charm to it and will give you at the very least an hour of fun.

You can view my review here: https://youtu.be/g65kkU6FUtY

A Fisherman’s Tale is one of the better VR puzzle adventure games. It’s also one of the best-looking VR games with a beautiful art-style. It has gorgeous visuals, good voice acting, a nice story, & solid puzzles. It’s built not only exclusively for VR, but the experience is something magical in VR.

Game took me about 90 minutes to complete. I think it’s taken most people from 60-90 minutes to complete. The puzzles are perfect for casual puzzle fans or puzzle beginners. However, puzzle veterans may find the puzzles too easy. Luckily, even if you find the puzzles too easy, there’s still a nice story and world to discover.

This game started strong but was a huge letdown. The game mechanic is interesting but the experience is VERY brief and the controls really get in the way, especially during the last level. I won’t spoil it but it was borderline unplayable. I switched from room-scale to sitting because the navigation is unintuitive and inprecise. In the sitting position, it seemed like it wanted the controllers inside of my physical torso in order to be able pick up certain objects and there was no way to reposition my body. There is an absolutely awful hint system that would not stop despite being turned off. Had I needed the hint, it would not help because it is vague. But, it deluged me with the same hint and, given that I was actually struggling with the controls, not having trouble figuring out the easy puzzle, it was aggravating. Furthermore, the game, seemingly arbitrarily, decides to reset objects to their initial position, meaning they have to be picked up (and interacted with) again and, coupled with the control quality, this is infuriating.

CubeHub

CubeHub

This is a collection of mini-games based on innovative game mechanics and parodying famous games and other works of modern culture with its help. This is a physics challenge with puzzle elements.

Gameplay

At the game level are various figures. Your goal: to put the figures so that they intersect certain parts. The game marks these parts with a pink color.

Using the keyboard, you control one of the figures: rotation, movement back and forth. You can push other figures.

Some figures may have AI and move independently of the player. Some figures can “shoot” cubes, they push the figures too.

At different levels, different settings for gravity and destructibility of the environment.

Game features

  • Many figures of different shapes and colors.

  • Tutorial levels.

  • Different game levels. From simple and funny to very complex, from which you will break the keyboard and your nerves.

  • The game develops attentiveness, precision of movements, intelligence and a sense of rhythm.

  • This is a fun game for the whole family. Play it with your friends, parents, children, grandparents. Play it at work so that your boss can see that you are increasing your intellectual level and become more useful for the company.

Grub Gauntlet

Grub Gauntlet

A fun puzzle game in which you must arrange various objects around the room to help the hungry man reach his food. Oh, and you launch him by pushing the TNT detonator behind his back.

In the current version, the game has 35 levels that get increasingly difficult, but the good news is that you’ll be introduced to each item that will aid you in solving all of these puzzles. Bombs, which can be used to push the man in various directions; portals, which can be used to connect two portals to travel between them; conveyer belts, which are a more precise version of the bomb that can be rotated; and levers, which can be used to open doors and rotate conveyer belts, are the main objects at your disposal. Several extra items can be found in the final stages, although they’re more of a showcase and will almost certainly be built upon in future updates.

I was lucky enough to get this game for free as a beta tester. I have since gotten into speedrunning it and have been enjoying it a lot. Casually the game was enjoyable albeit a little short (2 hour first playthrough). However once you complete the game there are other fun variations of the game like an all abilities mode (kinda like a NG+), and a reverse playthrough. There are also some fun easter eggs and secrets in the zones and lobby that make exploring worth while. The challenge levels found in the lobby also give the game some extra difficulty while still staying separate from the normal playthrough. All in all I think there is plenty of content here to justify the low price of $12 for a casual player.

LSWYG is a great speedgame but an awful casual game unless you are fan of difficult games.

Lets just list out some of the features that make this game good to speedrun because I have no idea how to format this review:

  • In game timer

  • Great skill based movement

  • Developed with community feedback

  • 10-20 minute long runs depending on your skill level

  • Hard to get burned out of due to the short runs

  • Easy to just boot up and do a run whenever you feel like it

  • 25 well designed main levels with some extra levels for anyone able to finish the game for the first time
