Loser Reborn
What?!
-
There isn’t enough variety of class options. There is Knight/Samurai, Wizard/Wu-jen & Rogue/Ninja to bring to a total of six. Problem is there is no differentiation between, say, a Knight and a Samurai. Only the starter skill is different. And the usual normal class traits don’t really apply here–a Warrior/Samurai in Loser Reborn is a “supporting class” and Rogue/Ninja are more of a “attacking class”.
-
Throw-away plot with typical plot-holes of anime.
-
Equipment Balance Issues: MC can be K’O in one hit. To explain: equipment can be either conducive or combustible–meaning you have to be very careful how much “weakness” stacking you are doing. Combat is about memorization; for example: one class is more inclined to use fire-tribute skills than physical attacks or a foe is more resilient to physical damage but more acceptable to magical damage.

I can tell that the developer of this game put in so much love and effort into this game.
This short, yet extremely difficult rpg game is basically inspired by the isekai trope of magically teleporting the player into a fantasy world on the brink of annihilation. There are basically three classes: Knight, Mage, and Rogue. The Knight specializes in tanking for his team mates, the Mage uses spells, and the Rogue is fast and focuses on debuffs. The goal of your mission is to defeat the Dark Lord who is threatening to destroy the entire kingdom or world thing. You are assisted by your harem party of brave heroes to defeat him.

Cthulhu Saves Christmas
At first I was really into it. It was funny, combat was fun and showed promise, music was great, the writing and scenes kept me interested. But it quickly died down. This is not a bad game. But not only does it not improve from previous games, which would’ve been important, it’s even a step down from previous games overall, especially coming from Cosmic Star Heroine.
First, minor tech issues: the game has an overlay glitch at 1440p, possibly appears at other resolutions too, that doesn’t happen at 1080p. It’s not major, but it’s a blemish. There is also an issue with characters following you going out of-sync above 60FPS. Doesn’t pose any problem otherwise though.

I picked this up back around Christmas, and took only a little over 12 hours to finish it. Its only now I am getting around to reviewing it, so lets begin. I do recommend this game, but barely. It didn’t click with me totally like some of Zeboyds previous titles.
The concept is simple. Cthulu wakes up and is told Santa has been kidnapped. Why should he care? Because Santa helps everyone get what they want for Christmas, even dark gods. If Santa isn’t rescued, Cthulu can never conquer the world. Oh no! And so you set off to battle the League of Christmas Evil and save the holidays.

Sacrifice Your Friends
Basically, this is the mechanics of overcooked mixed with the gameplay ideas of Gang Beasts. It super fun to dash around use and throw the weapons, some weapons are a little more useful than others, but they are all counterable. It controls well. A bunch of cool little stuff to unlock, like hats and characters, a bunch of different powerful gods to play, all with different gameplay styles. A whole bunch of beautifully designed maps/artwork, and a whole bunch of other stuff to explore. A great and simple versus game that is definitely worth picking up.

This is an amazingly fun item-arena brawler. The closest games I would compare it to are the Bomberman series and Killer Queen Black.
Your character avatar has no impact on your move set, which consists of punching, grabbing/activating an item, and throwing an item. Your associated Ancient One cult (Cthulhu, Dagon, and Nyarlathotep right now) does have a slightly altered move set, which are fitting for the time-limited avatar transformations (similar to a Smash Bros. Smash Ball). The game moves at such a frantic, hilariously fast and fun pace that it doesn’t need more than this.

Case 02: Paranormal Evil
Case:02: Paranormal Evil is a casual story driven game about a guy that wakes up in a hospital amidst a zombie outbreak spurred on by cultists in the area. The game features very well done pixel art as well as some anime art of the characters in the dialog cards. Just well executed for the game and gives a charming essence to the experience. The game has you do skill checks of Willpower, Firepower, and Dexterity and items that you can equip will increase the number of dice you can use against these checks against any paranormal evil beings you may come across.

Story
You play as Marty, a boy woke up from a coma only to find himself in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. Marty befriends a girl, Sally, who looked after him while he was comatose, but then she gets kidnapped by the Cult of Gla’aki. Despite being an ordinary guy, Marty has to fight his way through the undead hordes inorder to save Sally and escape the hospital.
While the story stands well on its own, it feels a lot different from the other games in the Physical Exorcism games thematically. For one thing, Marty and Sally are written as traditionally sympathetic protagonists, unlike Brucie, Jade, and Lucy, who are written as darker protagonists that most people wouldn’t cheer for. Also, while Loser Reborn tried to deconstruct the wish fulfillment of Isekai stories, I feel that Case 02 plays the wish fulfillment of the zombie apocalypse genre straight.

Monument
Maybe my judgement is affected by playing too many terrible raycast engine maker games lately, but I don’t think this game deserves all the flack it’s getting in the reviews section here. Yes, it has problems, but for the price (especially on sale) it’s a decent classic Quake-wannabe FPS shooter.
The Good:
-
classic Quake-style gameplay (though not nearly as good as Quake itself obviously)
-
no ammo cap for any of the guns, unless it’s 999 or something which I’ve never reached
-
no weapon reloading, though some guns have recoil that gets worse the longer you hold down the fire button which is fine

DUSK
Christ! I’m not sure how to respond to this game. I’m iin my 30’s and i grew up on fps games. DUSK is possibly the best game I have ever played. I feel that the creator grew up playing, doom, quake, half-life and the like. The game is so perfectly created by someone who wished that he could create a shooter that took small parts from all of those games and put them together in a way that i would never expect. It is retro in a way that isnt jokey, but it incorporates all the best elements from every 90’s shooter. In conclusion, its not half-life, but it’s better than every other shooter that came before that. Honestly, one of the best shooters of all time.

Fantastic shooter and had me gripped from start to finish. If you like the retro style then this game is for you. Loads of secrets similar to doom etc. Gameplay is smooth and fluid. Runs like a dream at 120fps+.Such a simple game to play, it’s a no nonsense shooter. Updated on a regular basis and great value for money. Loving it.
Highly recommended. A++

Fhtagn! - Tales of the Creeping Madness
My group of friends and I have been searching for a game to match “The Yawhg” for a couple years now, and the day of prophecy has come. I cannot recommend this game enough, as it became an instant classic for us. It’s fun to play solo, but the meat of the game is playing with 1-3 others. The core loop is simple to pick up, but difficult to master: pick a location, pick one of two known actions to gain stats, a random event (based on your location) happens which you need to resolve, then you pass or fail said event and move to the next turn. Failure is not punished so much as laughed at and, occasionally, rewarded.

Fun game! A bit hard to grasp at the beginning. I didn’t really like the offered tutorial. I prefer tutorials that unfold while playing. Furthermore it would be great, if the controller support was better. I was amazed as I used a mouse the first time and was able to get tooltips for the different stats.
Using a controller we figured it out by guessing. :)
Sadly this game isn’t much known, so there aren’t many mods written (although the ones that are out are hilarious and fun to play!)
Can’t wait for the update. We played with 3-4 players for 2 days and got most of the achievements (first time I was compelled to do that). But getting the same stories over and over makes it boring over time.

Risks: (I will be totally honest with you. Thus, I put it here)
1, The game is made with a very old game engine. (For memories' sake)
2, There is only one developer.
3, I am terrible at 2D art.
4, I am not a native speaker of English.
Thus, I provide an honest demo for you. The demo version will update all the way till the game release.
It reflects the current stage of game development in almost real-time.
As the game is one of the first and last RMXP games that’s ever being developed, I’m not exactly aiming to make it something great. (or even sane.)
Instead, it needs to be unique and fun in a way that people can rarely see nowadays, to make people laugh maniacally even in a grimdark world where both the in-game world and the life circle of RMXP are coming to an end.

For a long time, we have witnessed the rise and fall of many others.

Some people predict it will keep ending this year, next year, and the year after.
But, well, even if that’s true, even if the ending is inevitable, it is tragic, we are still alive.
So, cheer up! We shall carry on.
As long as we stand, the world shall never fall!

The Secret History
The story behind this game:
https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1519140/view/2986431641632413538
It’s the first Neolithic game with English localization that comes to Steam since 2004 when the first game of Neolithic was published in a dark corner of China.
_Comparing to a commercial game, this is more like a memento to the old golden age of RPG Maker XP (when indie games are really indie; when updates are free instead of being paid DLCs; when developers update games for years, even decades instead of abandon projects as soon as it’s no longer profitable; when games are made with passion instead of money-hunger; And, when RPG Maker was not used to just make those cheap adult-only games.)
This is NEOLITHIC!
There are many games out there, made with modern tools and more than 1 developer. They are supposed to be better than mine.
But, they are not. Why?_

Visceratum
“_That is not dead which can eternal lie,
And with strange aeons even death may die._” - H.P. Lovecraft
-
A frank, sometimes surreal, other times horrifying story with a good portion of caustic irony and grotesque..
-
Simple controls and no “platforming”, pixel-hunting or teeth-grinding puzzles allow you to concentrate on the main thing - the story and your participation in it.
-
A unique atmosphere woven from real photographs, bizarre plasticine animation, and enchantingly murky music by Serge Bulat.
Blood. Guts. Our own meat.
Here are the Great Ancients sleeping in each of us.
Should we fear imaginary monsters, or creatures crawling out of the depths of the sea? After all, they are only the wretched of this world.
The unknown and fleshy within us - is the true, underlying horror of which we may not even be aware. A horror about to break free…
Visceratum draws inspiration from the work of those who have been able to look into the abyss of humankind. Let’s honor those names: Lovecraft and Kafka, Beksiński and Giger; Cronenberg, Švankmajer, Lynch. And many other masters of the dark arts gave a bit of their energy to the seed from which Visceratum sprouted. However, the game does not try to parasitize on the greats - by paying tribute to them, it seeks to construct its own reality.
The strange visuals, сrawling at the bottom of the “uncanny valley”, combining serious themes and drama with outright absurdity - create a special surreal atmosphere of Visceratum. Will you dare to step into these dark waters?
