--- This review is long past due, I don't know how I didn't write a review for this game over so many years. But by far! The best game Valve has made. Portal 2 is the definition of a perfect puzzle game. It really makes you think in a different aspect with portals, it's so extraordinary. The story is absolutely outstanding and heartwarming, with comedic and lighthearted moments to cinematic scenes all while trying to escape Aperture Science. The visuals are nothing too captivating but very memorable. The audio is fantastic, Portal 2 has some of the best soundtracks I've heard out of any game it's perfect for trying to think while going through test chambers. Everything about the main game is perfect I could play it a hundred times, come back to it years later and play it again, and it would be still just as great as the first time I experienced it. *– [Real player with 207.8 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198416210585)* --- ![Grub Gauntlet](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/1446560/header.jpg "") ## Grub Gauntlet A fun puzzle game in which you must arrange various objects around the room to help the hungry man reach his food. Oh, and you launch him by pushing the TNT detonator behind his back. In the current version, the game has 35 levels that get increasingly difficult, but the good news is that you'll be introduced to each item that will aid you in solving all of these puzzles. Bombs, which can be used to push the man in various directions; portals, which can be used to connect two portals to travel between them; conveyer belts, which are a more precise version of the bomb that can be rotated; and levers, which can be used to open doors and rotate conveyer belts, are the main objects at your disposal. Several extra items can be found in the final stages, although they're more of a showcase and will almost certainly be built upon in future updates. *– [Real player with 1.2 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198003013967)* --- ![ChromaGun](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/408650/header.jpg "") ## ChromaGun This is a mediocre game, at best. People keep comparing it to Portal (when I say this, I mainly mean Portal 2), but I don't think they can be at all reasonably compared. Portal is lightyears ahead in quality: it's several years older, yet it's much more innovative, better scripted, better acted, looks better, has far better interface responsiveness, and probably a lot more I'm not mentioning here. I cannot think of a single way in which Portal doesn't blow this game out of the water. Whereas the humor in Portal was hilarious and witty, ChromaGun's sarcastic narration misses the mark by a mile, largely being comprised of a somewhat obnoxious barrage of reused insults directed toward the player. *– [Real player with 15.9 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198051072200)* **chromagun** is a competent 1st-person puzzler where you mix colors to paint surfaces and droids to move them out of the way, open doors, etc. the presentation is very good, **I liked the music and the narrator a lot**. settings are okay, separate volume sliders, rebindable keys, etc. no fov or brightness sliders though, and not much to tweak the graphics with, but it runs well even on an old system. the 8 chapters with 58 levels should take maybe 5 or 6 hours. *– [Real player with 6.8 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198042406453)* --- ![Double Kick Heroes](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/589670/header.jpg "") ## Double Kick Heroes ### Intro There have been so many rhythm games over the years varying in overall idea: dancing to music in time, playing plastic guitars in time, pressing keyboard buttons in time, and even racing to music in time. Double Kick Heroes may not seem any different from these other games but it is in one small and simple detail: you aren't just keeping in time. Being solely based off of the drum beats and patterns, the game focuses on the overall groove of each song rather than just watching the screen and reacting to visual cues. Through my first playthrough of the story mode, I played it like I would any other rhythm game and relied on the visuals to guide me through the songs. The difficulty immediately ramps early in the story however (which i'll talk about soon) and i found that it was difficult to complete songs, ultimately failing a lot. After practising a little more, I started to get into the groove and into the mindset of a drummer and found it 10x easier to complete every song and ultimately more enjoyable than any other rhythm game. *– [Real player with 52.5 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198118671928)* I've tried and bought the game at Stunfest a few days ago. It's a great game, I definely recommend it ! The songs are really nice and the graphics are pleasant too. I'm not very familiar rythm games so I had a hard time on some levels (T-Rex for example) but I still managed to beat the game in Metal difficulty. There are currently no level with 3 tracks in that difficulty and you figure out quickly that the second track is optional (the main combo does not reset when you miss the cymbals) so I sometimes just ignored that second track to be a bit more focused on the main one (especially on the tank boss). *– [Real player with 19.6 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197991032563)* --- ![POSTAL](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/232770/header.jpg "") ## POSTAL ### I Regret Nothing POSTAL is one of those games, even after all these years, you can still pick it up and truly appreciate for what it is and how it affected the view of video games back in 1997\. Unlike it's sequel POSTAL 2, this game is extremely dark, (in which HATRED tried to do and then some, but personally found it to try too hard.) Postal is an isometric top-down shooter where your goal is to kill all enemies (or 90% of them) in the map and move onto the next area. Due to what a lot of people believed, you don't actually have to kill innocent people! Though what's the fun in that? … It's not, it's painful trying to complete the game without killing any innocent people. *– [Real player with 51.1 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198032415501)* Having played this games series to completion (well, almost: what, you mean to tell me that you actually got all the way through Postal 3?!), I feel that reviewing them all is necessary. This game, however, is going to be difficult to review. It's not that it's a badly made game or that I hate it (on the contrary). The problem is that it's such a disturbing game that I may end up on a watchlist for recommending it. Whatever! Here it goes. The first installment of the Postal series is of humble origins, provided that your definition of "humble origins" involves being banned in 14 countries, being blacklisted by most major retailers and being mentioned by Senator Joe Lieberman to the Senate as one of the "three worst things in American society" (the other two being Marilyn Manson and Calvin Klein underwear ads). Postal is a game about a guy (the Postal Dude) being bombarded with demonic mental images and voices convincing him to murder society as a whole. Each level is a neighborhood, truckstop, air force base, shopping mart, etc. of innocent people and hostile people ("hostile" being cops, government agents, well-armed vigilantes and other people who are merely trying to stop a madman with weapons from murdering everybody). You are instructed to kill at least 80-90% of the hostile people before progressing to the next level. Unlike the succeeding two games, the only morality choice you're really given is whether you want to kill only the people trying to kill you or kill everybody. *– [Real player with 29.7 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198025958586)* --- ![Road to Ballhalla](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/425410/header.jpg "") ## Road to Ballhalla Road to Ballhalla is a cheeky, occasionally cruel but ultimately satisfying experience, that I would highly recommend to anyone with a taste for arcade-style platformers and puzzle games. I say this having completed 100% of the game's achievements. Aesthetically, with regards to its delightfully colourful design and well-suited, unintrusive yet engaging soundtrack, I can't really fault Road to Ballhalla. The puzzles are all very much based upon rhythm and visual patterns, meaning that the audio-visual elements of the game are critically important, and I am pleased to report that they do themselves absolute justice. *– [Real player with 14.6 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198044059480)* Road to Ballhalla is a simple top-down arcade-style game. You control a ball, and your goal is to navigate your way through 20 levels, collecting little sparks (the game’s collectable) and avoiding dying as you go. The game is very simple – there isn’t even a jump button. You can simply move in any direction, or speed up your rolling in a sort of dash move. The dash move makes it so you die instantly if you take damage, rather than simply… well, taking damage. This makes it risky to use at times, so it must be used judiciously. *– [Real player with 12.5 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198003970062)* --- ![DUSK](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/519860/header.jpg "") ## DUSK Christ! I'm not sure how to respond to this game. I'm iin my 30's and i grew up on fps games. DUSK is possibly the best game I have ever played. I feel that the creator grew up playing, doom, quake, half-life and the like. The game is so perfectly created by someone who wished that he could create a shooter that took small parts from all of those games and put them together in a way that i would never expect. It is retro in a way that isnt jokey, but it incorporates all the best elements from every 90's shooter. In conclusion, its not half-life, but it's better than every other shooter that came before that. Honestly, one of the best shooters of all time. *– [Real player with 72.9 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198027975377)* Fantastic shooter and had me gripped from start to finish. If you like the retro style then this game is for you. Loads of secrets similar to doom etc. Gameplay is smooth and fluid. Runs like a dream at 120fps+.Such a simple game to play, it's a no nonsense shooter. Updated on a regular basis and great value for money. Loving it. Highly recommended. Milking Simulator](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/841110/header.jpg "") ## HOLY COW! Milking Simulator A cheeky dash game that doesn't take itself too seriously! You control a cow that needs to eat grass to produce milk and then run back to the truck to get milked by a machine. Everything is on a time limit so you had better move fast. The goal is to reach at least the bronze objective to successfully complete a level, but you’re eventually forced to go for silver or gold. The reason for this is that there are roadblocks every five stages that require a certain number of medals. The grass quality affects how fast you’ll get full. The best one that fills you up in seconds is usually locked behind closed fence. Grass also fills up your poop meter, slowing you down. Because it fills up at the same rate as your milk meter, you have to relieve yourself virtually constantly. Poop is both helpful and annoying. Because your cow can't walk over it, you can find yourself surrounded by so much poop that you can't move. Fortunately, it can be destroyed by enemies or their projectiles. *– [Real player with 2.1 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198003013967)* ---
