Beyond a Total Loss

Beyond a Total Loss

Just finished the the game and really enjoyed it, there are many details and a lot of effort was put into it. It was a great old school adventure with some interesting twists and funny dialogues. If you are not sure, there is a demo.

Beyond a Total Loss is good.

It’s about what you’d expect it to be based on the visuals, and is more or less what I love about indie games.

A quirky story about a man who ends up going through a series of unfortunate events.

It’s time to get out from the solar system

This is an extremely low quality vertical scrolling arcade shootemup/bullet hell game. The objective is to fight through waves of enemies, perform limited ship upgrades, and eventually escape the solar system.

While the quality here is very low, the developer didn’t use retro pixel graphics, which makes this immediately better than thousands of games on Steam. The game runs properly in fullscreen and even supports 4K graphics, again better than thousands of games on Steam. The downsides, however, are significant. The graphics are of very low quality and bad to look at. The controls are lethargic and the ship moves like a slug. The translation is too terrible to make the story digestible. It’s just not fun. And what’s with the unskippable intro that replays when you die and goes on for an eternity?

Back in 2014 this was not the worst shoot em' up on steam for under 5$. It it still not the worst shoot em' up on steam in 2020. There is plenty of other shoot em' ups this generation for the same price. This game is lacking content compared to todays shoot em' up and this game is no longer being updated or supported. So if you are looking for e decently fun game for about this price, this is fine but keep looking they is alot more out there.

Au-Delà

Au-Delà

Introduction

You control a child who has to go to sleep, alone, in his house, after his parents have left. You will manage as best you can to go to sleep, remembering the instructions given by them, but everything does not go as planned. Surrounded by monsters, you will find yourself in unusual situations as you try to find out where your parents are.

The character

You control a character: a child who is alone at home. He is afraid of the dark and constantly needs his stuffed bunny with him. His movements are those of a child, he does not jump very high and does not have a large inventory.

The main objective

The main objective is to find your parents. For this purpose, you will have to explore the entire house, collect information and items, without dying, by solving puzzles or confronting monsters.

What makes this game different?

Rather than a classic approach to a 3D horror video game, Au-Delà takes the side of a 2D side view, offering a new experience by making you discover another way to appreciate the dark atmosphere of a horror game. It is especially intended for players who like to explore, solve mysteries and who are not afraid of monsters at night. This game also offers a new idea of gameplay by asking you to build OCD throughout the game, making the atmosphere more oppressive. The whole thing is accompanied by a narrative with creaky humor.

Features

  • Exploration: Explore the family house and solve all the mysteries it contains.

  • Inventory: A child cannot carry a lot of items, you will have to choose what you want to keep with you.

  • OCD: You will have to repeat different actions each time you enter a room, an oversight can potentially cost you your life.

  • Time: Time passes as you progress, find your parents before sunrise.

  • Survival: Many monsters will attack you, each of them has its own peculiarities and needs to be avoided differently.

  • Chases: Some monsters will not give you time to breathe, escape quickly or die.

  • Dialogs: Interact with the monsters to get to know them better.

  • Multiple endings: Some of your actions will have an influence on the end of the game.

  • Drawings: Collect the drawings hidden in the house to unlock the secret ending.

The Castle

The Castle

Wonderful little oldschool point and click adventure game! I very much enjoyed the graphics, environments and the atmosphere! Absolutely LOVE the comfy castle interiors! It’s a real pleasure exloring it. The artstyle is absolutely on point and gave me huge nostalgia vibes throughout the game. Multiple endings and achievements keep you coming back for more.

No so good:

  • this game feels unfinished with the writing. Apart from some dialogue, there really isn’t that much text in the game. I was especially disappointed with the lack of (humorous) comments when interacting with the environments. I tend to “look at” every object I can identify. In this game, the characters usually repeat the same few words. For example: “nice door” - “interesting” - “I don’t want to insert action” etc. This is a missed opportunity in my opinion.

Jump Off The Bridge

Jump Off The Bridge

This is one of the most original games I’ve ever played, as it gets updates and the developer adds more to the game I can only hope more people find out about its existence. Every death handed to you is specifically placed by the creator to literally test your patience, and overcoming the challenges put before you is just really fun even if you don’t manage to do it. The game offers a lot of challenges and it will not hold your hand, but everything is a new experience and feels rewarding, not to mention one of the most memorable characters you can find in a game.

@dev secret level in the final build where the time wizard returns? FeelsOkayMan :point_right: :ok_hand:

I also found an unintended way to jump off a boomerang. While holding the boomerang, if you have upwards momentum from your jump (can not be highest peak), you have to throw and land on the boomerang at the same frame, by pressing your jump button again. That way you can mid-air off the boomerang.

Makes some jumps at the boomerang-section easier.

Great game, worth the money! Can’t wait for Hardmode.

Scheming Through The Zombie Apocalypse: The Beginning

Scheming Through The Zombie Apocalypse: The Beginning

A choices matter Visual novel full of offensive humor, staring two degenerate morons and how they deal with surviving a zombie apocalypse.

+graphics are pretty good cartoon style.

+Story line is funny(THE FIRST TIME)

+Soundtrack is relaxing, but not necessarily good.

-Saves. This saves after every chapter. There’s no other save option. Should save after every chapter, so you can go back in case you mess up. This is super punishing for mistakes.

-Lack of options. You can literally only change them at the beginning of game. And there’s literally nothing for sound or graphics. Just to show the text in the talk bubbles. If you choose to not show text, it still shows the stupid bubble over everyone’s head anyway. Oh and language settings, which only has about 8 options.
