OLD REVIEW:
They deny you! They deny you! Not one of them. Not one of them!
So, I found that this game was free a long time ago (guess it’s only been about a year and a half) and decided to hunt achievements in it. Of course, there was a problem…it’s an early access game with very little explained on what to do or what’s going on.
Freakshow 2 is a possible sequel to…another game that does not appear to be on Steam. So if there’s some sort of knowledge between projects, I’m completely unaware of it. You move from room to room and monitor your asthma before you die while you solve light puzzles. Big problem with moving around, however, is that several rooms have the same background…so if you’re in the main hall, it will look exactly like your bedroom. Trust the map more than your own eyes to have a better understanding on where you are. Fortunately, if you’re an achievement hunter, a guide exists courtesy of the developer. Of course, after a year of being in Early Access and with the presence of a guide from the developer, it appears that development on this project has stopped. Whether it will become a finished product or will remain what it is appears to be unknown.

In - Sight
This is some spacy kind of abstract Unity Test. I like it, but the blobs and the flesh-colored finger section might have triggered an auto-take down at Steam Video Headquarters.
! I mean, I assume there aren’t any nipples or what have you but it would be a bit of a Rorschach test. https://youtu.be/3LK8HBIbS1c

Swallow The Blue: Remastered
Full Play through w/ all fedoras once it uploads here: https://youtu.be/WtRqorHYGCY
I enjoyed the game a pretty good amount the scares are decent I love how they use the mechanics to create mini games, but there are glitches which will be included in the video. The third bathroom I’m not sure if this is intentional or a glitch but it freezes the game if you stay in there too long. If you close your eyes cause tom scares you the game stays black screen. If your floating on the couch and don’t look left when the policeman gets off he blocks the door which might be intentional. The game seems to hint that there is possibly multiple endings but there’s not there’s just one. After searching for the fedoras I found the easter egg room really underwhelming as well. The game itself though was great super atmospheric and interesting.

Swallow The Blue: Remastered is a game developed and published by Euphoric Brothers
With most of the (completely) free-to-play games (meaning games that do not have an in-built in-app purchase system) I’ve played, I believe, it’s free, get it and give it a try… doesn’t cost you anything

This game is a about a man named Jacob Ernholtz, and his last day alive. Or I suppose his last minute, since the clock is stuck at 3:22 AM the whole time, but It can’t be broken because the alarm went off… Anyway this is less of a review and more of an analysis. That being said, there will be -
SPOILERS
I’ve spent a decent amount of time combing over this game and trying to piece together the narrative. At first glance it’s clear that Jacob is obssessed over a painting of two palm trees. It’s not a very special painting in my opinion. However he has gone far enough to have an entire room dedicated to this painting and many variations, perhaps looking for some hidden meaning. But why that specific painting? Well, Jacobs username on the chatting application is “ratherBtravelin” - a bit odd considering he has boarded up his windows and (I’m assuming) he stays inside as much as possible. He’s not a complete agoraphobe, judging by his grocery list. I believe this painting has struck a chord with Jacob simply because it’s a way he can vicariously be somewhere he wants. Somewhere exotic and sunny. Perhaps with friends and family. I imagine he sees himself as happy there. Unfortunately due to his depression (which is the cause of his isolation in the first place) he develops a consuming obsession over it, instead of actually taking a trip to the bahamas.

Dark Fracture: Prologue
Dark Fracture is INTENSE! This is a unique horror game the likes of which I have never seen before. The game play, lighting, environments and story are all completely focused on delivering an excellently executed horror experience. I was really impressed at how much stuff was interactable and right from the start the game gave a foreboding feeling and I found myself opening every drawer looking for stuff to help me, my survival gamer instincts kicking in. Even if this isn’t completely a survival game, it had aspects of it, like the sanity meter, that made me feel like I needed to find as much stuff as I could to help myself survive. Which is a plus! However, the game is certainly focused on horror first and boy did it deliver! The horror was heavy, constant, and like I mentioned before, INTENSE! I almost could not handle this game! There were several points I said to myself, “I do not want to go out there.” There were points at which I nearly jumped out of my headphones! There was so much quality horror content and game play packed into this demo I can only imagine what the full game will be like! Well worth the time spent and I can’t wait for the full game!

UPDATE
Holy bananas Batman! I fixed the graphical problems I was having by popping in and out of windowed mode a few times and adjusting the resolution that way. Then the mouse worked fine and I was able to see the journal properly.
Big difference. I’m changing my down thumb to an up thumb. :)
This was an interesting game as far as the insanity mechanic goes. I enjoyed playing through and exploring and eventually finding my way to the the end. I also appreciate the humor that is gently sprinkled in here and there.

The Luminist
Big yes to this free indie gem, carefully crafted with love and wonderful attention to detail.
This short story is a vivid example of how fresh students can create a game that is better than some titles from seasoned developers with years of experience. Could be the perfect introduction of some bigger project in the presented dieselpunk universe.

Definetly give it a try.
Its short, free and well made.
33% exploration
33% action
33% horror.
If this would be a few houres long (maybe 6-8) and the fighting would be a bit more polished this would easily be worth 20 bucks.

Dissolving
On the surface, Dissolving is an intriguing, very short visual novel about a girl who is given something by her ex. The original story is less than 15-30 minutes, and it feels a bit disappointing that it ended so without going into much detail or lore. However, it quickly becoming interesting when you actual start digging into the game itself. The second story is far longer and more interesting, delving into the experiences and lore, figuring out a lot of the story, and even at the end of that there is a hint to more stories outside of the game. There is even a twitter for the character to explain more about her experience. The developers put a lot of effort into making an enthralling, thought-out universe for such a small game.

**‘‘And if thought and emotion can persist in this way so long after the brain that sent them forth has crumpled into dust, how vitally important it must be to control their very birth in the heart, and guard them with the keenest possible restraint’’
Algernon H. Blackwood**
That certainly was a surreal yet thought-provoking journey!
It plays out as a Kinetic Visual Novel but accomplishes an eerie atmosphere very quickly leaving you questioning where this is going to take you as you’re pulled along by the words.

Perfect Vermin
Follow our Curator Group for more reviews
Perfect Vermin is an action horror game in which you search an office building for “vermin”. In practice, this means taking a sledgehammer and smashing any piece of furniture that seems out of place. Each level has a certain number of vermin that must be eliminated, usually within a 90 second time limit.
The destruction mechanics are fantastic. Smashing an object feels satisfying and impactful. It’s difficult to talk about the gameplay without spoiling anything, especially for a ~15 game, but it’s definitely fun to play during its short runtime.

You need to play this game.
I saw this game on Alpha Beta Gamer’s channel a while back. I had been so fascinated with it, and appalled at how little real coverage it had gotten overall. I actually left a pretty long-form comment on one of the game’s many coverage videos, analyzing all the absolutely magnificent details the game’s presentation had, Maceo actually responded to it too. Alas, the comment has since been removed by whatever eldritch system YouTube runs on these days, but I will gladly reiterate all my praise and analysis here. Every word, every sound, every image is so perfectly done and conveys the exact tone and message. The 5 to 10 minutes this game has naturally going for it are so excellently packed with this paced, growing dread and horror, and an ending that hammers in (pun intended) the message the game has so carefully and thoroughly expressed throughout the dialogue and presentation you’ve been gleefully to not-so-gleefully smashing through this whole time. The double meanings and subtle buildup through the entire game become clear in the finale, and it’s so well done that it’s criminal it’s been sat on or undiscovered by so many. This is what horror games need to be. None of this jumpscare flutter-the-heart crap, none of this pretentious walking simulator crap. Horror needs to be Horror. Horror is equal parts fear, dread, anxiety, and sadness.

The Alchemist’s House
This was one of those rare horror games I actually enjoyed. The artwork is gorgeous, something I don’t usually get to say in a horror title, but it takes it’s own visual style and runs with it. I don’t want to give too much away, but you are taken in by a creepy stranger. The choices you make matter, and make the wrong one, well…
I don’t know if it was timing and the game updated, by my first couple of plays the blue light did not speak. Overall, a fun horror title and it’s clear a lot of love went into it. Thanks for making such an awesome game, and for free to boot!

Well, this amateur dev certainly did the right thing by releasing her “game”/demo for free. And y’know, as such things go, it really ain’t so bad, so I’ll quickly get some of the quibbles out of the way…
The footstep sound effects: insanely unatmospheric. The character animation: ugly as sin. The voice acting: subtle as a sledgehammer on a baby’s skull. And the writing, well…I’ll be kind and not mention that at all.
Oh yeah, and for some strange reason you seem to be about three feet tall. (I don’t think I was meant to be a child. Was I meant to be a child?)
