DARK SOULS™: Prepare To Die™ Edition

DARK SOULS™: Prepare To Die™ Edition

Short version :

One of the best RPG games EVER made, that’s coming from a gamer who’s played over a hundred RPG titles in his life.

Dark Souls - 9.5/10

_Long Version :

Darks Souls….. so much to say about this game.

The game throws the player in a very difficult world, not just by gameplay standards, but plotwise as well. The story / lore is depicted in such a way that it’s never speaking to the player directly, but rather to your character, it never breaks the 4th wall by directly telling the player what to do and how to do it, only the basic attack move buttons are given to you at the beginning, and from then on, you’re completely on your own for the rest of the 50+ hour journey. Unless you get a co-op partner that is._

TLDR: Yes.

Dark Souls has issues.

While most entertainment experiences go out of their way to encourage your interest, it feigns indifference to your attention.

Introducing itself via bizarre and meaningless cut scenes you find your protagonist in a pretty dull dungeon. “Oh look, a man with a sword viewed from third person” you observe with a mounting sense of déjà vu. “No doubt I have a healing potion and a sense of manifest destiny somewhere in my bag too” and reach for the reset button/cyanide pill. But Dark Souls IS different - not that it is keen to show off. Like Usain Bolt winning the Dad’s race on sport day mumbling something about how he probably jumped the gun, Dark Souls’ initial coyness infuriates and astounds with equal measure.

A fun game. It is challenging but, not overly so.

You will die ALOT.

Yet, you will not feel like it was a careless mistake or a battle system skewed against you.

DISCLAIMER: I did receive this game for free but, my views are my own.

Honestly is quite an awful game, pretty sure its like a mobile game or something or at least that’s what it seems like, there’s no options menu, you can’t change the bad controls, half the time you don’t hit the enemies you’re attacking, the further you get into the game the more you just get swarmed and stunlocked, there’s only 1 level in the whole game you play over and over again just with harder enemies and new bosses sometimes. You can unlock new weapons and abilities and stuff but it takes forever to get enough points to unlock stuff, I imagine you lose points for dying so you pretty much can’t upgrade and get better and I imagine eventually you’ll just run out of lives and have to start over. There’s a level select screen at the beginning but you can’t go back to it after the first level and you can’t go back and redo previous levels for more points so bit annoying. Some of the art is kinda cool though and the music is alright, the cursor is annoying cause you can’t tell where you’re clicking cause its so big. It just feels more like a college project than a game, definitely not worth the asking price. I wouldn’t pay a dime for this. Sorry bout that. 2/10

Faerie Solitaire

Faerie Solitaire

Disclaimer: I purchased this game using my own funds, and I do not write a review on a game that I have not paid for myself, because I believe they should be fair and unbiased. I don’t believe you can get that unless you invest your own funds and support developers, and provide a personal sense of “value”.

This has got to be one of the more enjoyable solitaire card games on the market. I have put over 52 hours into this addicting game. It has a fun background story (which does not interfere with the game play, but merely keeps you involved to continue on your journey), relaxing music, and simple mechanics with fun powerups to assist you along the way. A good value at its current asking price of $10, but I think as a casual game, I would wait for it to be on sale for around $5. It has achievements, trading cards, and is guaranteed to waste a LOT of your time if you are a fan of Faeries whatsoever.

An entertaining Solitaire game, with quite simple, but engaging gameplay; and a nice story about faeries. This game is good for some relaxing during an afternoon; even though it’s simple, there’s still some challenge to it. The aesthethic is really nice, featuring some nice backgrounds for each of the different levels, all following a fantasy theme.

The game offers several modes; an adventure mode, in which you play through 40 levels, following the story of a kid who encountered faeries, and all the dangers he encountered during his journey to save them which, although might sound unnecessary for a solitaire game, adds a nice backstory. There’s also a quickplay mode, in which you can replay any previously finished level, and a challenge mode, with some more difficult levels. Each level consists of 9 hands, and, while it’s not necessary to collect all cards in each hand, there’s still different objectives to complete in order to beat a level.

Played this game for the past year since OBT. The game is a diamond in the rough. Has a lot of potential but Webzen Korea ruined global version. They have full control over game. Webzen global who hosts it has no permissions to do anything (basically middle man) anything they need to fix they have to go through korea even for the smallest of changes which causes problems take forever to be fixed. As more and more time goes by more p2w stuff gets added to cash shop and gap just gets bigger between f2p and wallet warriors (few exceptions for f2p who put hours upon hours a day). If you want to stay competitive you will have to buy costume/wings which give additional stats that our only temporary. So you will keep having to buy them each month if your not lucky to get one of the unlimited costume/wings from their rng lootboxes. So on top of costume/wings/pets/premium being competitive wont be cheap. But really not a point anymore because playerbase has dropped so much over the past month because the way the company handles game. The biggest thing that ruined game for me is company doesn’t care about their playerbase whatsever. They make polls (most recent one being do you want XP pills in shop) community said no, then two days later they put them in shop. Not first time they completely disregard commmunity. But $$ is the only thing important to webzen to anyone that has been playing for awhile now can see it they are just milking their players till this game comes to an end. Its sad because their is a lot of hidden potential in game that can be improved upon, but thats not companys priority. A lot of people I played with are only still playing till next big game comes out and use this as a “placeholder.” I tried to stick with the game, but can’t do it anymore. Most of my friends quit for one of many reasons. So leaving this review in hopes that I can save someone from making the same mistake I did by giving them my money to support a game they don’t even care about.

So the game has mixed reviews. Everyone says “P2W” both in reviews and in-game. However at first glance I couldn’t see what all the fuss was about. Sure there were some convenient options and a small boost to stats. No biggie I thought. When you get to max level you start to realize how much you can buy your way into the game. How long and grindy everything is. You can basically spend the rest of your life in this game and never get the best gear. Personally I never liked the infinite grind concept.
