Slimefrog

Challenging and fun game to pass the time. Takes a while to get used to the controls however once you get the hang of it the game becomes very enjoyable.

Challenging but fun platformer game. Sooooo relieved there are checkpoints throughout to save my progress! Never thought being laughed at by Security boxes could feel so…personal haha :(. Love the neon theme and music, feels like the 80s.

Lords of Strife

Lords of Strife

I had a lot of fun with the game… for both the challenge and the atmosphere. Loved the music! Very challenging, especially for casual players such as myself. I noted that this may be a con for the game, due to certain parts being very challenging.

The look and feel of the game is fantastic! Major points for the controller compatibility and game sound volume control, which more than a few Indie games have been lacking.

I did a live review of the game, and presented my thoughts and reactions in real time (up through the first boss):

Lords of Strife is a game about pain, which isn’t evident by the colorful backgrounds and soundtrack reminiscent of classic video games, but the mood is right there in the title. The gameplay is difficult and innovative in that to move forward you will have to suffer. The platforming and puzzles will take several attempts to achieve mastery, but you will also have to adjust to enemies and how they change the levels. Several are impossible without effectively utilizing the enemies, and creatures like the frogs, owls, and coyotes provide more utility than obstacle. Your greatest weapon is determination, and the only other contender is a pitchfork. The dialogue is humorously grim. Death is frequent but, at least in the earlier stages, not a large setback, and advancing to the next screen preserves your progress. Ride those scarecrows.

Very frustrating, but insanely fun to play!!!

Although when closing the game, keep in mind it doesnt save progress.

Had a lot of fun playing and will definitely play it again, might even try to beat nr. on leaderboard ;)

Game is pretty fun, you can do quest to gain bonus(like the grappling hook on the tongue)/malus which in return, will affect the ending you get (6 ending, with cutscene coming up in the future) Gameplay is solid with or without the grappling hook and theres a baby mode with checkpoints for people who don’t handle rage well

Map design is really well done although simple, you have a basic design, and you have a harder path once you’ve become better at then game, that skip thing but is, well, harder.

The End Is Nigh

The End Is Nigh

A lot of people have called The End is Nigh “Super Meat Boy 2”. I somewhat agree. It definitely has a similar aesthetic and certain elements are reminiscient of SMB. It’s closer to Super Meat Boy than Edmund’s other games, with its precision jumps and retro stages, certain obstacles and collectibles. It will certainly keep you busy for a few days, and far longer if you aim for some of the more ridiculous challenges or achievement hunting.

Sitting at 99% completion on my main save file, I think it goes without saying I’ve enjoyed the game quite a bit. I like the level design and hunting down secrets. I’ve both adored and loathed the retro stages and I don’t think I can leave this game unfinished, even if some of the iron man challenges are sure to give me a hard time.

Updating this review now that I’ve played through a lot more of the game, now that I’m at 75% completion, now that I got most of the collectibles (including secrets), and now that I made a “friend” (which is the objective given to you at beginning of the game, so no real spoilers there). Unless you’re some sort of platforming deity, two hours is not enough to get a good feel for the game.

Okay, first off, this is a hard game, especially if you’re going to be going for collectibles. The levels get quite unforgiving quite quickly, even in the first area, and the difference in timing between success and failure can sometimes be measured in tenths of seconds. Additionally, the controls are really precise, so when you screw up, you don’t have anyone to blame except yourself. Therefore, it’s not for everyone.

Super Meat Boy Forever

Super Meat Boy Forever

The challenge of Super Meat Boy returns in Super Meat Boy Forever! This time around Meat Boy is always running, like literally…it’s an auto-runner. He can’t stop and he won’t stop. Levels are brutal, death is inevitable, and players will get that sweet feeling of accomplishment after beating a level. Players will run, jump, punch and kick their way through familiar settings and totally new worlds.

What’s better than playing through Super Meat Boy Forever once? The answer is simple: Playing through Super Meat Boy Forever several times and having new levels to play each time. We created over 6000 level chunks and smash them together to create new unique levels and each time the game is completed the option to replay the game appears and generates a whole new experience by presenting different levels with their own unique secret locations. We’ve handcrafted literally thousands of levels for players to enjoy and conquer. You can replay Super Meat Boy Forever from start to finish several times before ever seeing a duplicate level. It is truly a remarkable feat of engineering and a monumental example of ignoring the limits of rational game design and production.

Super Meat Boy Forever takes place a few years after the events of Super Meat Boy. Meat Boy and Bandage Girl have been living a happy life free of Dr. Fetus for several years and they now have a wonderful little baby named Nugget. Nugget is joy personified and she is everything to Meat Boy and Bandage Girl. One day while our heroes were on a picnic, Dr. Fetus snuck up on them, beat Meat Boy and Bandage Girl unconscious with a shovel and kidnapped Nugget! When our heroes came to and found that Nugget was missing, they knew who to go after. They cracked their knuckles and decided to never stop until they got Nugget back and taught Dr. Fetus a very important lesson. A lesson that can only be taught with punches and kicks.

Safe Climbing

Soooo funny! You die lots of times, in some hilarious ways. Traps are challeging and you have to discover how to avoid them, needing some witness and skills. I’m trying to compete in the ranking!

Retro look and feel makes it still better, it reminds me some of those video games rooms from the 90’s.

Good investment!
