Cute Things Dying Violently

Cute Things Dying Violently

To preface this, I won this on steamgifts.com.

Cute Things Dying Violently is a simple puzzle game that doesn’t offer much to the players in

the form of complexity. The basic mechanic is very similar to Angry Birds, where you “flick” “cute” things into a door… their homes? It relies on it’s violence to try to grab the player with crude humor about bloodshed and destruction.

The core gameplay was way to simple and it became grindy and repetitive rather quickly. It did teach me a very valuable lesson about reading and playing through tutorials. You should always complete them and read them thoroughly. Anyways, I would say it is 2/5. Not worth your time in my opinion.

Death By Buzzsaw

Cute Things Dying Violently is a game where the player may choose to rescue cute critters. These are the types of critters that one would expect to find wandering around aimlessly in a flower bed, through grassy planes, or even in a lightly wooded forest area. However, as I said, the player has a choice, and that choice may lead the player into causing a certain and painful death. Either intentionally, or even quite possibly accidentally. The player may choose to throw these critters onto spikes, into fire hazards, within a bolt of lightning, cause death due to falling, or the player’s choice of small to large buzzsaws can be utilized as well. I really think the developer watched one too many “Saw” movies.

Is your cat a murderhobo?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5cDk-cDNiI

If you want to be spoiled, go ahead and watch my video. Fatal Paws puts you into the role of a jaded teacher who picks up a stray cat from another planet. Dive into Pokemon style cat-vs-human fights in-between an overly dramatic plot that makes about as much sense as a bad horror movie. As a tribute to Fickle Sickle’s cat, it’s touching. As a game to buy, I can’t recommend it. But if you decide to, there is a cat video waiting for you at the end.

2021 edit: Beat the game, pretty bizarre ending. If you are interested I highly reccomend struggling through the brutal unfforgiving gameplay to see the ending, its like talking to an alien like a real alien, undocumented. If youve seen the movie Memento i highly reccomend beating this game just for the end. The hardest level is level 2 easily, try and stock up as much AMMO AND HP as you can. Use the torpedos to kill bad guys through walls on that level and mash grenades while looking down n mashing jump on the next area. The rest you can figure out. Im interested in tlaking with the dev if he ever reads this..Awesome ending discussion in HELL

Beyond a Total Loss

Just finished the the game and really enjoyed it, there are many details and a lot of effort was put into it. It was a great old school adventure with some interesting twists and funny dialogues. If you are not sure, there is a demo.

Beyond a Total Loss is good.

It’s about what you’d expect it to be based on the visuals, and is more or less what I love about indie games.

A quirky story about a man who ends up going through a series of unfortunate events.

Dracula: Vampires vs. Zombies

Good bow mechanics, good take on waves with addition of rescues, powerups, enemies and most importantly - just fun to play! Stay for a quick play or stay for a while, it’s all good. The pace is frantic but manageable and satisfying. I’d love more cotent but what is there has replay value. Thumbs up!

Not just another bow and arrow game! Its stupidly addictive and well made, the pace and variety is perfect. Working through the city is well worth the effort to make it to the forrest and instead of feeling like a chore like a lot of other similar games, you cant put the controllers down because you have to have one more go. The voice overs are brilliant, feels like an 80s film that can make fun of itself. Im sure there will be more levels to come, the devs seem to be pretty active and want feedback.

Fix Me Up Doc! – Dark Humor

Fix Me Up Doc! – Dark Humor

An interesting unique game with funny, weird patients.

Like the art style and the operations and unique tools, however Iam finding it stressful, my patient dies way too quickly before I can finish the surgery, no matter how many times I try, I guess Iam not fast enough and making just 1 mistake every time seems to mean a fail.

I like the game but am not sure if I can recommend as it’s really frustrating me and doesn’t feel fun anymore as it gets too hard past the 7th patient.

After 3 hours the game is too frustrating which is not very long. So I can’t recommend.

Real player with 3.3 hrs in game

What is this game? It’s a blatant Trauma Center knockoff with a hilariously broken English translation. If you’ve never played one of those, they’re games where you perform gamified surgeries on patients. This game does the same, but it’s extremely ridiculous and nonsensical. For instance, when you want to keep the patient alive longer, you inject them with ketchup and you often have to replace major organs with a sausage, which also doubles as a pimple popper. Most of the game is funny and entertaining enough, but the difficulty, much like the game it’s mimicking, becomes ridiculous. I’m stuck on level 9 because if you make one, single mistake at any point, you basically just lose. That’s right, you have to do it not only perfectly, but quickly. There are only 10 levels and I’m practically certain I’ll never see the last one. The game’s length is padded by the obnoxious difficulty, so there isn’t much value here at all. I was mostly amused by a lot of it, but I cannot recommend it.

This game is amazing! It is a pretty short game, and it can be beaten in only a couple of long sessions. Frankly, I couldn’t really see anybody playing this in many short sessions, as it is a very grind-y game, however, if you often find yourself having long chunks of time in your day, this game is a nice way to fill that time.

Hilarious, brutal, violent, and heartwarming. Those are the words I would use to describe this game. Mostly violent.

Stramedia: my_MISADVENTURE

Stramedia: my_MISADVENTURE

Me and my mom have been having a good dinner in the kitchen that night, then the doorbell rang and an envelope slipped through the mail hole.

“Good evening! You’ve been invited!”

…it started off, continuing that it’s an invitation to the “Stramedia Safehouse Facility” breach. The survey was…odd, to say the least, but some of the things were done fairly easy, though I didn’t think it would go through. Then some of the days were spend outside of our homes and school, though it’s up to you to think of whenever or not these were the good days. And then I am sure you know what happened next.

Stramedia - my_MISADVENTURE is an indie horror themed adventure game where you step into the shoes of a classroom warden who signed the agreement to possibly the most bizarre, yet somewhat deadly school trip in his entire life. Of course it may not start off deadly right away, but, uh…yeah, things are gonna escalate. But can you blame him? He really didn’t know what he and his friends (fiends? Frienemies?) were going up for.

Well, what can he do now? Surprise, surprise, getting the hell outta there he must.

(AKA: the stuff worth checking it out and/or purchasing for)

  • The main protagonist is wearing a fedora hat! This is probably the best selling point to this game… I think! I mean…this is one of the main factors you got attracted to that other game with a kid, the kid’s hat, the stuff…uh, no? Okay, but if you know what you’re doing, you can find and recruit three other friends you’ll get (or have) to play as!

  • Essentially, this is another “average mediocre indie” horror game, except the mediocrity here is 99% intentional! And not to mention that it’s got everything you love and hate to see and experience in a horror themed videogame! Stupid simple and ridiculous (and somehow twisted) puzzles (with a lot of “ands”), cliché monsters and thirsty spooky mannequins…except they actually want to drink tea, you pervert. Get out of here!

  • Simplistic Visual Pixel Art Style, Soundtrack and Audio Design! If you like looking at pixels with different contrast, I am sure your eyes will love that, and if your ears love to feast on the Low-Quality DPCM-ish Audio, giving you an illusion that you’re playing a crappy retro GameBoy Advance styled game or something, then you’re all welcome in!..oh, wait, I forgot that we are talking about a game that LOOKS pretty retro…huh, that’s lame.

  • No, really. That kid has a hat.

  • Despite it’s horror nature, it’s also a comedy game! What kind of comedy? This game has got most of it! Whenever it’s all bad puns, visual humor, random, dark, dry or somehow outright gross and (“mildly”) offensive humor, Stramedia has it in the stock and shelves!

  • Prepare for some surrealism, because no matter if it’s an optical thing or not, things are…weird, yet somewhat disturbing, but not personal space like disturbing, because this is where it draws the line even for us.

  • A nice variety of accessibility options! Whenever you want to reposition the dialogue box, change it’s text size, whenever you find some colored text hard to read, or just don’t feel like playing the game with a controller and just want to rest your only arm and control the game with it, it’s no problem! The accessibility (and other) settings options may enhance the experience more nicely! (if there’s something you want to suggest, please let us know and we will gladly look into adding it!)

  • Seriously, that kid is wearing my hat! SOMEBODY DO SOMETHING! DON’T LET HIM GET AWAY WITH MY HAT!! :U

I have arleady finished theis game but I have replayed multiple as it is so great. The thrill never gets old and the replay value is great i have about 3000 hours on this game exploring the deep lore and gameplay mechanics. This is definatly the best game ive played. It has a very long play time for an indie horror and i had a lot of fun with it. I hope to see more titles by this developer in the future and he can be sure I will be onboard with his new releases. I also think that a sequel should be created exploring some of the deeper lore of the story. Speaking of teh story I found very intruiging plus the animation and jump scares were top quality and had me sqealing in my chair. I definatly recommend this game and everyone should play. There is no excuse for ignoring this title for its great price.

Free is probably the right price for this one.

Given how little there was to do here, it’s probably a good thing that the game is blissfully short. I floundered around for quite a bit trying to figure out what in Hades I was meant to do next, and still completed the game in 0.9 hours. The graphics are okay (it’s free) and there were a couple of scares, if you’re into that. I’m not, and overall, there were just too many things here that didn’t really seem to make sense. I can’t say I’d recommend this game. It was free, and I STILL want my money back.

Slayaway Camp

Total impulse buy. The game was on sale for cheap and I didn’t even finish reading the description. Probably not the best method of purchasing a game,, but I lucked out.

This is a puzzle game. Now, I normally don’t play puzzle games, so I don’t have the biggest library of game knowledge to compare this to, but it reminds me of a cross between Hitman Go and one of those flash games where you try to get the car out of a parking lot, or into a certain spot in a parking lot, etc.,. Each level is a static checkerboard, and pressing in any direction will send your character, the murderer, as far in that direction as he can possibly go. The result is that you have to shift your character around using the level layout in order to reach some harder to get to squares. The game teaches you the mechanics in the beginning tutorial and then gradually ramps up the difficulty as you progress, adding more enviromental factors and different types of NPCs.

This might just be one of my favorite puzzle games of recent times. Something about the 80’s horror movie vibe and voxel character gore has a lot of charm to it. In a way this is like the Broforce of puzzle games, and by that I mean, being able to play all of these classic villians, monsters, and creatures from your favorite horror films and slasher flicks instead of action movies. The humor of this game is spot on with the cheesiness of 80’s slashers, and almost everything is a comedic homage to them or other well known horror movies.
