Whisper Trip is a fast-paced, strategic hack and slash, side scrolling, platformer game with a difficulty spike that comes on too strong in the beginning levels of the game. One thing that should be noted, this game is rough to play on mouse and keyboard. I enjoy the general concept and where the difficulty is trending but combined with wonky controls and physics it makes it a very frustrating experience.
It’s difficult for me to give this a thumbs down, I genuinely enjoyed it and found moments of fun and engaging gameplay and because for some people this may be their cup of tea or might be much more adept out of the gate. I found myself getting stuck on walls or spinning endlessly on top of enemies on a corner and other buggy elements that added to the already frustrating element of gameplay where you can expect to die a lot. Sometimes enemies will randomly fire very fast or not when they have other times. There is also no save menu, so if you start a new game accidentally you will lose all your progress, not ideal if multiple people are playing on the same machine.

Operation: Tango
Operation: Tango is an asymmetrical co-op game (similar to a game like We Were Here) where one player plays as an agent and the other as a hacker, and you must communicate with each other to progress through the game. I generally found the missions to be interesting and challenging, with parts of one or two missions being a bit unclear what you were supposed to do (even after having completed it as both the agent and hacker!). There are 6 missions and 10 challenges, with the missions taking about 6-7 hours to complete, and the challenges taking 3-4 hours to complete at the highest level. The game’s overall aesthetic and UI is nice, and I enjoyed the music.

Black Ice
Black Ice definately isn’t a perfect game, but it is a fun one that is constantly getting better - a great example of an early access game done well. The developer listens to the feedback of their players and actively work to implement new features and changes to both fix bugs and add more content to the game and improve what is already there.
Now as for the actual game.
The gameplay is not anything super out of the box strange - the idea being that you have various weapons and abilities you can use to defeat enemies to level up and get more loot. Where it differs from other games of similar style is exactly that - the game’s style. It is themed quite heavily around being inside the internet, being able to walk to different servers and hack them to spawn the waves of enemies.

I’m going to be brief with my review, with the intention of adding on to it later.
I have had this on my watch list for years but finally decided to grab it recently (I currently have 29 hours in it). I was drawn to the idea of a retro-cyberpunk themed action RPG that also manages to not be gory or filled with adult content. It’s a welcome change from what’s popular these days. On top of that it also tests your twitch reflexes… a really rare combination. I must say, I got a WAY better game than I was expecting! Not only is the game fantastic, the developer is extremely dedicated, informative and helpful. I mentioned some bugs on the Discord chat, and within a few days he not only released a patch that fixed ALL of them: he even mentioned me in the Discord chat about the patch, remembering that I’d experienced some of these issues. This is a Class-A dev here folks. This is extremely refreshing compared to the dumping ground of abandoned “Early Access” titles on Steam.

ArcRunner
ArcRunner is a beautiful Cyberpunk-styled action rogue-lite set in the far future on board a huge space station where the controlling AI has gone insane, and its up to you to traverse the Arc to find and destroy it.
You start each run as a newly-cloned human, and using credits earned in each level augment and replace your body using robotic and cybernetic enhancements until you’re more machine than human.
The game features frantic 3-rd person action, a randomised weapon and augment system with almost unlimited possible builds, huge bosses to fight and 2-player online co-op.
Unending Dusk
Unending Dusk is a decent beat’em up if you enjoy grinding stats and finding rare attack mods. As you can see I dropped over 80 hours just to max out 2 of the 4 characters. I guess you could say that it has some roguelite elements, although there is no perma-death. The stages are randomly generated so you can run into a secret shop or a hidden area, and that is not counting the stat grind which is usually associated with the genre. For me the game managed to capture the nostalgia that I have for classic beat' em ups, despite having all those new features. In my opinion the combat, aesthetic and the controls are faithfully implemented. I play Streets of Rage (2) very often, by comparison the execution of attacks is essentially the same. Unfortunately, it has no grappling which is perhaps my biggest problem. There are definitely some modern features added to the formula such as character levels and different damage types, but overall it truly feels like a game that could be on Genesis - mainly due to aesthetic.

Unending Dusk is an old-school beat-em-up with ARPG mechanics and a pretty decent, darksynth-esque soundtrack that was admittedly rough around the edges in its early days, but regular updates have smoothed a lot of those edges and made for a compelling cooperative experience whenever I can rope friends into playing it. The developer even does double XP events on occasion. It has up to four-player online coop but regrettably no local option, an odd choice for the genre.
The time and place, a dark cyberpunk future in the last city on Earth. The titular twilight spells impending doom for the city given its reliance on solar power. A brilliant engineer has taken it upon himself to gather a band of the deadliest mercenaries, bounty hunters, soldiers and even religious fanatics he can get to find the source of the unnatural darkness and combat the strange, almost demonic invaders it brought with it.

E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy
Cybernetic Meme Machine
Ok, this game is a one for the history books. A full fledged Meta-meme game at this point. So I’m starting with :
Troubleshooting: I didn’t had any problems when I played the game under Windows, several years back. Nor, any problems with the compatibility tool Proton 6.3-8, these days. Under Manjaro (it is an Arch distro btw), I didn’t need any additional launch options, either.
Artificial Ingredients: The game has achievements. And a bit annoying one, too. Beside the story, the class and the weapon related one, there are a lot of random achievements. And I’m still grinding these random achievements up to this day. Maybe, that’s why I stop buying games with achievements.

One of the most esoteric and dense games out there. But one of the most fun due to just how much you can do, and how you can complete the game in any way you want. The community (or the only people that even play this anymore) is pretty based too tbh
