Citizen Sleeper

Citizen Sleeper

From the developer of In Other Waters, and featuring the stunning character art of Guillaume Singelin, Citizen Sleeper is a narrative RPG set on Erlin’s Eye, a ruined space station that is home to thousands of people trying to survive on the edges of an interstellar capitalist society.

You are a sleeper, a digitised human consciousness in an artificial body, owned by a corporation that wants you back. Thrust amongst the unfamiliar and colourful inhabitants of the Eye, you need to build friendships, earn your keep, and navigate the factions of this strange metropolis, if you hope to survive to see the next cycle.

An abandoned station on the edge of a system in crisis. Run down, chaotic, unruly, and alive—it was founded by idealists in the shadow of a corporate collapse. Now it is held together by anarchic alliances, ramshackle factions and a shared desire to be free from the gravity of corporate control.

Every cycle you get up and choose what to do with your time. Toil in the yards, or take a bar shift. Search the markets for rare components or grab some street food. Make or break alliances, uncover truths and escape those that hunt you. Learn to survive and ultimately thrive, one cycle at a time.

The station plays host to characters from all walks of life, trying to eke out an existence among the stars. Salvagers, engineers, hackers, bartenders, street-food vendors, each has a history which brought them here. You choose which of them you wish to help, and together you will shape your future.

Hack into the station’s cloud to access decades of digital data, uncover new areas and unlock secrets. This is your unique power, and with it you can change your future. Corporate secrets, rogue AIs and troves of lost data await those willing to dive into the depths of the station’s networks.

Essen-Arp: to them you are just property, one more asset in a portfolio that stretches across the stars. You are the product of an abusive system, in a universe where humanity’s expansion is marked by exploitation and extraction. Escape the makers of your decaying body, and chart your own path in a richly imagined, deeply relevant sci-fi world which explores ideas of precarity, personhood and freedom.

Each cycle you roll your dice. Assign them to vast range of actions available on the station. With every action, choose what, and who, matters to you, shaping the lives of those around you, and ultimately the future of the station.

Clocks track both your actions and the actions of others across the station. From becoming a local at the Overlook Bar to protecting a friend from Yatagan enforcers, clocks allow you to track your own progress and the influence you have on the world around you.

Follow drives not quests, allowing you to pick and choose the stories and activities that matter to you. As you do, you will shape your character’s five skills (Engineer, Interface, Endure, Intuit and Engage), unlocking perks and bonuses that reflect and change how you choose to live in this world.

A simple game in which you are presented by a continuous flow of events to which you respond in one of two ways: which either decreases or increases one or more of the 6 key stats (5 “factions” plus the “board” stat). The goal is balancing each stat as if one drops low enough, the game ends. Those that played Reigns should be familiar with the system and might enjoy a simpler cyberpunk version of it.

Love Shore

Love Shore

Welcome to Love Shore, a city that transforms at night. The futuristic metropolis just happens to also be populated with cyborgs, old gods hidden in the depths of a criminal underground, and humans eager to crawl their way to the top, no matter what the cost.

After a fertility crisis changed the landscape of the city for good, a single company stepped in to help the residents: Life S. Incorporated, a biotech firm that claimed to be able to build life out of raw DNA, creating a fully formed human with thoughts, feelings, and morality of their own.

Their minds, physical appearance, and personality would be drawn from their parents’ DNA, but the children would be ‘born’ using artificial bodies. This new generation would be called the S.Humans: a non-aging, tough form of new life.

Love Shore features two playable protagonists with four storylines and romanceable options, each with their own storylines. Sam and Farah are two completely different characters suffering from the same circumstances: they’re S.Humans, one of the 100 cyborgs created by Life.S. before the company vanished.

FEATURES

LOVE SHORE features 25+ possible endings, 8 different storylines, multiple complex weaving routes and an awesome soundtrack! The game’s UI fluctuates between day and night, depending on the time in Love Shore.

MECHANICS

LOVE SHORE has hidden rpg mechanics, including a stat system for three different abilities that you can develop based on the decisions you make. All companions have a hidden approval system as well, allowing you to develop your relationships to be challenging, platonic or romantic.

Love Shore has dating sim mechanics, including unlocking romantic scenes but can also be played entirely without any romantic interactions.

COMPANIONS

Sam and Farah’s lives are a web of messy relationships, contacts and enemies. Who will you help? Who will you lose?

After many years of gaming, I have decided to start making reviews about games, so here goes one for this game in a detailed fashion. I tried to gather as many hours of gameplay to view all the possible outcomes and finish the achievements. Since I dont want to spoil the fun of actually playing the game, I will try to keep it at a minimum, while providing useful insight about my experience.

So, when it comes to cyberpunk I become super mad. Guess the main reason is because I was grown on all these movies and stylish shows and synthwave music, in one word all these main cyberpunk components. Plus, I really appreciate the whole idea of the cyberpunk and all this aesthetic is pretty much addictive.

And now, everytime I hear some cyberpunk games are about to release I feel like “yeaaah, an amazing content is here!” and insta buy it. Sadly, lot of games disappointed me or were boring as hell, but on another hand, there are still cool products on the market.

Project Downfall

Project Downfall

Game is good in general, has correctly designed world that creates quite dense atmosphere, but still when it comes to fighting it gets veeery frustrating. Enemies are truly overpowered, the stamina level is annoying, pick-ups dont always work and you cant immediately crouch after performing a slide thus you cant take cover at the right time. Won battle is satisfying, but you can achieve satisfaction in different ways, than having many powerfull enemies (that can ignore wall collision and go through the wall LOL) just left for the player to be dealt with, i.e. with better balanced and well designed combat which for now is extremly annoying. Sad since it is the main part of the game. And there are goddamn holes in maps. Thus you can fall down just like that and die in the middle of for exmaple: COMBAT. Well, maybe that is why its called Project Downfall…

Edit 2: I’m gonna be updating this soon, so take this with a grain of salt.

I’ve played this game a lot, and it has a lot of good things in it. It is also full of some of the worst game design choices I have ever seen. For example: after the level “Brain Freeze” the player is dropped into a shipping yard full of enemies. The problem is that this level takes place at night meaning that it is absurdly dark so the player can’t see enemy sprites. To make matters worse a third of the enemies have shotguns that can kill the player in one hit and have a reaction time of less than half of second (which is fine in the short indoor levels where trial and error is viable, but we’ll get to why that doesn’t work here) The level takes place outside in a massive shipping dock with multiple alleyways and probably about 15-25 enemies, which the player is forced to kill all of to proceed. This means that you’ll constantly slowly inching around trying to find the enemies your looking for on this bloated map, constantly getting one shot by an enemy in the dark that you literally could not see (at least in the millisecond you have before they shoot you) I would say that this level takes about 1-2 minutes to complete, which might not sound bad until you realize just what kind of game this is: this would be like a 2 minute long super meat boy course or a hotline Miami level where the enemies are all hidden where you somehow can’t see them. What makes this level completely unacceptable in my book is that once you finally, and I mean FINALLY manage to take out all the enemies on the dock (took me about 18 tries and 35 minutes) the level. is repopulated. with boss enemies. that take half a dozen sniper rounds. to down. and one shot the player. And if you die to this, (which you will) you are then forced to start the level ALL OVER AGAIN. this effectively makes the level infinitely longer and frustrating enough to burst a blood vessel, as you have to somehow take out all the enemies on the dock AGAIN only to get another shot at taking out multiple boss enemies at once without dying. I have yet to complete this level or the game because I can honestly only put up with so much. This is only one example, there are many more levels just like this one in the game (“Providence” comes to mind) which means that you’ll be frustrated and miserable throughout.

Silicon Dreams: Cyberpunk Interrogation

Thoughtful, provoking, atmospheric and wonderfully written. The premise may be nothing new but I felt a genuine anxiety being judge, jury and executioner.

Silicon Dreams is a cyberpunk, futuristic courtroom for androids.

You are D-0527, an interrogation model specially designed with an extended emotional range, better equipped to detect deviancy in other androids, and humans.

In the year 2065, we are an interrogator android, owned by a robotics company Kronos to question various androids and determine if they’re operating correctly or if they’ve become deviant. At the end of each interrogation, we get to fill out a report with crucial information that can affect our reputation with the company, and then we decide what to do with the android - whether to release them, to erase their memory, or to decommission them completely.

Pretty well done. Definitely along the lines of Disco Elysium in a cyberpunk setting, but without the roll of the dice involved in your dialogue checks - options are mostly determined by how you branch your professions (the level-up system) and by your past actions and interactions with other characters, things or situations. On top of that, you have to use the information you gather to draw conclusions and make deductions (you play as a sort of cyber detective), and most choices you make will either block certain paths of information or open them, which ends up changing the nature of a lot of the dialogue and the way the story’s told and, inevitably, how you’ll get to end the game.

IN A WORD: COMPELLING

IN A NUTSHELL:

WHAT TO EXPECT: Detective adventure game. Isometric presentation. Cyberpunk Setting. Wide range of well-crafted locations. Good variety of crafted NPC individuals. Scripted, linear but self-deterministic story with arcs. Point & click style interaction system with some depth. Minimal character creation. Unrestrictive clue and deduction system. Occupational skill system for additional interaction options. Forgiving design generates some replayability. Made with no soft-caps. Text heavy, requires lots of reading. Extensive Codex feature full of important game data. No combat system. Single-player.

Personally I find the fun in choose your adventures is predominantly in the 1st run through. In that aspect this game is hard to recommend. With that said it was very interesting and for those obsessed with going through the majority of the endings I think you’ll have quite a bit of fun with this one.
