Code.Breaker()

Code.Breaker()

Code.Breaker() is a cyberpunk visual novel about technology, crime, and trying to survive in a world ruled by corporations.

Setting

2083, Free City-State of Seattle. Augmentations are commonplace, most people at least having a brain-computer interface chipped in. Sentient Androids live amongst the population, together with genetically modified humans and cybernetically enhanced people.

The corporations fight with other corporations over their bottom line, both figuratively and literally, making it a hotspot for so-called “Ronin”. These “Ronin” are modern-day mercenaries doing the dirty work for anyone who can pay them, most of the time corporations.

Story

You take the role of a hacker working for Akiyama CyberTech as a “Network Security Expert”. Your job is to keep the Seattle branch office safe from outside intrusion and the network security of the building in shape. It’s a mostly ceremonial position to fulfill legally required human quotas, which you only got through nepotism.

In truth you were born without citizenship in the slums of Redmond and honed your skills in the underground hacking scene.

One day, you get an email from an anonymous sender who knows your secret, threatening the life you’ve built up.

Now it’s up to you to take back control!

Gameplay

  • Talk to colleagues and make decisions that matter

  • Point and click on background items to get more information about your environment

  • Hack into systems by quickly solving puzzles

  • Play through a thrilling office story where you defend yourself from the shadows of your past

the perfect game to give a positive review so that it appears on all of your steam friends featured tab in the store so that when they go to the steam store their parents will walk in on them and give them a questionable look and then they have to explain that their friend on steam gave this game a positive review and then explain why they are friends with a degenerate. im going to start rambling about how good this game is without any proper grammar or spacing so brace your eyes because my god is this game good it runs better than any game i have ever played before it has more content in it more than your life the inventory system is stunningly unique and intriguing i probably spent half an hour studying the intricacies of the menu and i strongly believe that this system should be introduced to more modern day triple a titles dont even get me started on the gunplay because it is as smooth as my eyes after reading this for spelling mistakes not sure why i even think im going to bother reading this again but i must say that the map and level designers definitely deserve a raise because the map design is ice cream in 40 degrees C tier the enemies are super diverse and are a challenging addition to this already perfect title i cannot wait for a sequel this game should be on the steam store for a higher price definitely a hidden gem that deserves your attention because it was the most emotional experience i have ever had and i will never forget my time playing this

PSYCHO-PASS: Mandatory Happiness

The first thing that you must know if you are considering playing PSYCHO-PASS: Mandatory Happiness is that pressing 1 on the keyboard opens the menu. Press 1 to open menu.

–——–

The second thing is probably how it runs on PC. This is when a warning is necessary: some testers with Windows 10 64-bit reported late in the test period that the game wouldn’t play after the last patch was pushed.

During the beta test period, which formally ended almost 2 months ago on 1 March, NISA were suitably responsive to fix issues. After the test ended, some testers have posted problems but nothing has been heard from NISA, possibly because NISA stopped monitoring or being active on the beta test forum. Given how responsive NISA were during the test period, I believe it is reasonable to have some faith that NISA will fix the Windows 10 64-bit bug.

Reading this review will certainly clear your hue.

When we love a series, it is not uncommon to wish for a video game to be made in the same universe. Whether the game is actually good is up to how it is handled. A lot are bad, but there are some that rise up and is great. With 2 seasons and a movie behind it’s belt, Psycho-Pass comes up to bat with their own game: Mandatory Happiness.

This visual novel takes place somewhere between season one with a few hints on what episodes already or have not happened yet. But if you are new, whether you never knew it was an anime or never had the time to watch it, do not be intimidated. Mandatory Happiness does appeal to fans the most, but they do not suspect everyone to know all the terms and how the universe works. It subtly tells you about everything that is relevant while also filling up a tip menu. It also helps that the story is easy to follow, even if you never looked at the tips, you will get it enough to understand.

Pros:

1. The story is an entertaining piece as it’s dark and gritty, while keeping itself levelheaded as it doesn’t exaggerate or downplay during the entire game.

2. The story’s uses an excellent mix of Cila’s development and surrounding conflicts of it’s dystopian world, as it involves humanism, rebellion, and human x android legalities.

Synergia is a Cyberpunk visual novel heavily reminiscent of Blade Runner and similar stories focusing on androids and their place in future society. It is set in an unspecified year on a desert colony planet, dominated by an oppressive state known as the Empire. The protagonist, Cila, is an operative and negotiator working in a special police unit tasked in dealing with malfunctioning or rebellious androids – a role that is a culmination of her troubled past and a painful fall from grace as a celebrated soldier in Imperial Spec-Ops formations. Demotivated and depressed, Cila barely manages to perform her duties and her miserable routine is only disturbed by her friend, Yoko, gifting her a replacement for her broken companion android – Mara, a machine that feels more human than most people in the corrupt city she lives in.

Bionic Heart

Bionic Heart

I honestly didn’t think that I’ll find this game to my liking. But I did.

Visual novel is a very specific genre. Developer of the game should create the atmosphere of the world, vivid characters with different personalities and provide an interesting story. Developer of “Bionic Heart” succeded, in general. Here is why.

First of all, the atmosphere of the world. In “Bionic Heart” you’ll be walking the streets of futuristic London with it’s modern technologies all over the place. You’ll find out that the change of climate really altered lifestyle of future people. Constant rains actually fit the setting, creating the tone of sadness and tension. All these things really put you in this world, so you don’t feel too distant.

Figuring I would check out Bionic Heart a bit while farming cards, I loaded up the game and started reading through the first chapter. Eight hours and 24 achievements later, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised.

Bionic Heart isn’t the best visual novel I’ve ever played, there are certainly issues that prevent it from being more, but it has a charm that I wasn’t expecting. The game’s greatest strength is in the sheer number of choices you’re given and the many branching narratives that result. Discovering them all and winding your way through different story paths is truly where the fun lies.

EDIT (PLEASE READ): The developer responded to a thread about my complaints: http://steamcommunity.com/app/351790/discussions/0/617329505862063026/

Indeed, this is just a taste of what is to come, a small piece of a larger arc. He had a little mistake of not specifying this, so hopefully he’ll change the store description and maybe fix it up a bit. Click the thread link for a more in-depth explanation from the Developer. Hope you all enjoy this game, but realize there is more to come! This is merely a demo of sorts to keep you interested. I still highly reccomend this title!

I was interested to play this game after noticing the newest game to the series just came out. So i thought before i spend money on it, i’ll play the first game so i know what is going on and with all the positive reviews, i thought this was going to be a good series i could fall inlove with. And it just so happens to be free. But even if its a free game to play, it doesn’t make it a good game. As you can see, this is a visual novel which has choices you can make. But the choices in this game are dead end choices where you must pick the right one to continue onward. That was a huge disappointment to me because i kept picking the ones that got me caught. Linear novels with no tweaks for pick your own path really bother me because i felt duped in a way. And for whatever reason the “quicksave” button would not let me save at my current point. So i had to start from the very beginning which was frustrating till i found out if you go into the menu and hit “Save” it will work. When you make a visual novel, you want the reader to fall inlove with the plot, the characters and to pull them in. But i was somewhat lost by this novel. When you first start, the game puts you right in the middle of something that you won’t understand and does not explain very well later on. And right off the bat you can tell this game felt rushed a bit or was mainly just a project to see if someone could actually make a visual novel. However, even if the art style and charming music were a nice touch which are positive things to note, the scene’s did not flow well at all and made you felt like the developers didn’t care if the dialog flew from one end of the town to a apartment or a rooftop without warning. I just couldn’t understand it. The writing isn’t good either but i kept playing it because i really want in my heart to like this so i can try out the 2nd game. So i pushed on, in hopes it would get better. But after reading more of the story, the main character Bunny started to make me mad. It was hard to tell that she was talking to the AI “Mask” and not at the other character she was interacting with in the physical world. But it wasn’t just that, it was her personality as well. She seemed to act like a child, not a skilled hacker. I just resented the character even further than i did in the beginning. And also what i noticed is how this novel lacks any descriptive details about the places bunny travels too. Shes in a park Well what did the park look like? shes in a hospital Well, can we get some more details please instead of bunny constantly talking? I love visual novels so much when the story comes to life, but i cannot recommend this to any of my friends and advise you to look elsewhere. But hey at least this game was free so no one had to waste anything but their time.

Let me preface this review by saying two things:

1. I played this game for 11 hours and got every achievement. That means I went through THREE separate playthroughs (new game, new game+, new game++). I have seen EVERYTHING the game has to offer.

2. I became aware that there was a certain controversy attached to this game and that resulted in a lot of purchases, and positive reviews, to support the devs. I had no idea about any of this when I bought it. I enjoy both Cyberpunk and Asian horror, and since the game was on sale, I decided to buy it and check out something new. I admire their insistence to deliver their uncompromised and coherent artistic vision but I’m not here to make a political statement. I’m just reviewing a game on how I experienced it.

Please note, the Developers have changed the game in response to several points of this review, and this review will be updated when I play it again in the next day or two. I don’t want to just delete it as I need to go through and check things, but please refer to others for the time being as they obviously are considering things and changing things based on feedback.

Target Audience: Very Patient old school players who play games like they would in real life.

Beautiful scenery and a well put together atmosphere. The story concept is nice, tho not fully conveyed in the game. There is a lack in game mechanics as far as movement and abilities. However it does have well put together puzzles that fully engage you, tho not very intricate. Overall for what you are getting for the price is accurate. This is a indie title,. I do love the main character you play as. She’s a sweet heart. I personally say she looks better in the game than the movie is base off of, maybe using her in a Pixar like animation would be wonderful to see. And yes there are bugs, found about 4-5 of them, tho closing and restarting the game fixes them. good to save regularly. Overall I enjoyed it, and hope this developer makes something nice with the IP.

I wasn’t expecting much and i didin’t get much, but i was still satisfied.

Others have already said it the game has poor gameplay but not unberable, if you want to try it don’t expect a good gameplay just a good atmosphere and artstyle.

it’s rather short but for a two man team it’s correct.

Maybe i should’ve checked the anime first, oh well people seems to have liked it more than the game so i definitely will.
