ROGUERIA: Roguelikes X Tactics

ROGUERIA: Roguelikes X Tactics

IN A WORD: MAYBE

IN A NUTSHELL:

WHAT TO EXPECT: Strategy game. Turn-based tactics. Fantasy themed. Dynamically assigned pre-generated levels. Several individually themed chapters. Nodal maps of linked locations. Skill-oriented combat encountered. Small number of tactical factors. Defeat end-of-level bosses. Time-limiting rogue-lite mechanic. Relics provided collective combat modifiers. More complex than it looks. Single-player only. No real deck-building.

Game is amazing a super pleasant surprise I literally bought this to have steam points for the ox and it looked semi interesting. The music/sound effects/art style are super pleasing and keep the game really enjoyable throughout your whole play. The difficulty ramps up greatly in boss fights as you progress through the zones and the game will take quite a bit to beat I got to the third zone on my first play through and the boss graped me in the mouth. There’s different characters and upgrades you don’t get anything when you lose it doesn’t seem sadly, but there seems to be a lot for me to explore still. Some nice changes would be if you have enough movement to make an attack work if you could just use the attack and the character auto moves vs having to move then attack that’d be a nice quality of life change. Getting something unlocked for failed play throughs would be nice as well since this game gets really difficult

A little, cute gem here.A turn-based tactics game where you control some slimes and fight against other slimes. Levels are set up as various grid like terrains and you are allocated a certain amount of units to play and position at the beginning of the level. Here, you must defeat them within three turn, using different types of slimes which unlocks as you progress such as ranged slimes and shield slimes. Each turn you can take three actions including moving and attacking your unit, and choosing which direction your slime faces at the end of the turn. This is necessary as slimes take different amounts of damage depending on which way they attack and are attacked, so strategising your positioning is key. As well as there being more various kinds of slimes later on, there are also levels get more complicated as there are traps that arise, different levels of the terrain as well as the scale getting bigger.

I really like this game, it is excellent. Is one of the only games I’ve played where watching the enemies move is as interesting as moving your slimes. The art style is excellent and the music is also really good. The menus are really well made, and everything is easy to use. Every move you make is impact, and the levels are challenging but fair. I really like the three round cap, as it means that you don’t end up hanging back and hiding. It is a highly enjoyable game, I highly recommend getting this game, it is excellent.

Blast Ensemble

Blast Ensemble

A classic match 3 game. But this time you just have to click on the lines of the same shapes instead of moving them. Special tools for special cleaning of areas will drop out to help you. At each level, you are given a limited number of moves, for which you need to score the most points in addition to the main objectives to complete the level. Here you and knocking down certain types of figures and the destruction of individual blocks and the capture of various toys. The game features a huge number of levels and cute characters.

Contingency Creatures

Contingency Creatures

A PvP indie pixel-art monster battler with a unique approach to turn-based combat. Choose your moves 3 turns ahead… and create a “Plan B” for if things go wrong! Will you wield your contingency plans to create ambiguous multi-layered strategies, or to fortify a brute-force offense?

Choose from a diverse pool of Creatures, each with their own unique attacks and animations, to build a team that suits your preferences. Then go head-to-head against other players online.

This game’s system is unique in that players must publicly declare their moves up to 3 turns in advance. However, what a player says they’re going to do might not match their real intentions – with “Contingency Plans,” a player can make secret modifications to their publicly-stated orders that only take effect if certain conditions are met! The key to victory is to thwart the opponent’s publicly-declared moves while trying not to inadvertently trigger their Contingency Plans.

Demon Lord Jill -REVIVAL-

Honestly, this game is just confusing and nearly unplayable without the R18 patch (can be found in the Discussions section for this game). Large sections of the story text, item / ability names, as well as most of the images in the game are cut from the game, so it was nearly impossible to figure out what I was even supposed to be doing. Thankfully someone posted the link to the official R18 patch in the discussion area, as I mentioned before. That said, with the patch this game definitely becomes Hentai and should have that tag, not “Cute”. As a side note, the translator swapped the names of the Bat and Slime enemies for some reason.

Pretty interesting concept, playing the final boss and hunting down the defenseless maidens, I like it.

Fort Meow

Fort Meow

The goal of the game is simple: You have to build an catproof pillow fort to be able to read a book in the attic.

The thing is there is more than meet the eyes at first and the story behind the situation is certainly one of the cutest I read. I won’t spoil it because it’s part of what makes this game so nice and there is nothing better than letting yourself being surprised by the reason why there are so many lap obsessed cat in the house.

I’m playing that game in the background when I’m doing something else (aka discussing with people, doing a quest on a MMO or roleplaying) and it’s exactly the sort of game you can enjoy by focusing fully on it or doing something else at the same time. You have as much time as you want to prepare your defense against the catlaps, so taking break to do something else is 100% possible.

Fort Meow is a somewhat short physics based pillowfort simulator. In this game you follow Nia as she unravels the secrets of her grandparents sudden disappearance and why there are so many cats around…And why they’re so clingy!

You begin the game building a basic fortress from chairs and brooms, and eventually you have an entire house worth of furniture in there, all ready to ward off the cats who keep trying to interupt your quest to figure out what Nia’s grandpa wrote in his journal the days shortly before this all.

Chicken Defender

Chicken Defender

Fun and short game. The game consists only of a couple levels which vary in difficulty. For the price just perfect, pretty polished tbh.

I would say there was a lack of weapons, a couple more would be fun. Also, the goal for the last level was 100, I got 26,000, that can probably be tweaked. But overall fun time, thanks developers.

A $A1.50 well spent. Good graphics and sound.

Thought this Tower Defense title could be a walk in the park - after getting my bottom spanked my first 4 tries, I am happy to amend that thought. I particularly like the fact that the game advises you, and shuts the level down when you are not going to be able to meet the level requirements. I can see that I am really going to have to think the levels right through.

A terrific value for money title.

HoloFist

HoloFist

HoloFist is a tie-in game for a cartoon that doesn’t exist! A turn based battle game where reaction times matter, with a visual style that attempts to imagine how old school pixel RPGs might look in 3D.

With the help of your colourful ‘Holobuddies’, like Mathmoth, Pieceratops and Pakoon, you travel the island of Fistopia to clear out the haywire robots, toxic Blimes and other dangerous enemies that have overrun the island.

This first game from Edgehog attempts to infuse action into what you would expect from a turn based RPG, using timing based button presses to deal extra damage, or even block incoming attacks.
