Shindig

Shindig

Hey there hoomin!

Tbh, the moment I started creating my character, the game had already got me. Not just because there are many (hair) styles you can choose from, but the developers really made an effort to make variety and diversity one of the integral components of this game. And as you can feel while playing, they were very successful in doing so.

The individual and lovable characters are the main reason for playing this charming game! They come to life through their different personal backgrounds, their relationships between one another and their different ways of speaking (which is evident thanks to the great voice acting). But most of all, these characters are damn funny! Playing this game really made me laugh out loud - a lot. That’s why Shindig is not necessarily a single player game. You can also play it together with your family or friends to enjoy the jokes all together. I did the latter and it was one of the most entertaining nights in months.

Gonna have ourselves a Shindig!!!

Bought this charmingly illustrated and voiced old-school Point and Click adventure for my nine year old daughter, but found myself drawn in to the cartoon world of Shindig too, so spent the next few hours playing it with her and we both thoroughly enjoyed the game.

I know she liked this game as she has been singing the catchy tunes ever since!

A really nice concept (who doesn’t love having a party?) with friendly and memorable characters. Would recommend for young and old gamers alike who are looking for a relaxing evenings gaming.

Scribblequest

Scribblequest

My name is Scribble & this is my game, Scribblequest! It’s a whimsical musical adventure. No, it’s not just a game with music in it, it’s like LITERALLY a musical. We sing songs with lyrics that tell the story while minigames pop in and out in time with the music.

There’s also a colorful world to explore and lots of lovable new friendbuddies to meet! (Just a warning that 2 of the aforementioned “friendbuddies” are my parents. You don’t have to be friends with them if you don’t want to. I wouldn’t blame you, they’re kind of A LOT… Modge and Podge, if you somehow figured out how to use Steam and are reading this, I’m very sorry and I love you… Also I’m proud of you for figuring out a computer thing despite being like 5 million years old. OK, I’m sorry again. I’ll stop talking now.)

  • Songs that tell the story. In Scribblequest me and my friends literally sing songs, you know, like in a musical.

  • Gameplay that feels the beat. Everything reacts to the beat of the music in minigames that rapidly pop in and out.

  • Befriend a charming cast of characters (and my parents too, I guess). My name is in the ding dang title so you know I’ll be there, but so will a bunch of my best friendbuddies. I think you’ll like them a lot. My parents invite themselves to everything so I’m sure we’ll run into them too and I apologize for that in advance. (Nah, but seriously, Modge and Podge are actually pretty fun sometimes I guess… Don’t tell them I said that though.)

  • Join the band! Will you shred a scorching guitar solo or honk out a stinky sax solo? The choice is yours!

  • Create a custom avatar! You will totally get to create a custom avatar using a very well designed and intuitive user interface. I promise. (I don’t promise)

  • Race shopping carts and lift weights! Podge says this is the stuff “manly men” do, so if you’re a manly man I think you’ll really enjoy these particular activities.

  • Grow your own nose by helping it eat fruit! (I swear this makes sense in context)

  • Experience the power of server-side cloud rendered blast processing! I don’t know what this means but Podge told me nobody will buy the game unless I included it. (I don’t think he knows what it means either)

After each enemy kills a certain number, it will unlock the unique information belonging to the monster, which may contain various unknown stories.

◆Perfect and restored map of fantasy Town, rich characters, ups and downs of the plot

The game restores the panoramic map of Gensokyo and will launch a new adventure on this stage.

You can go all over the Gensokyo, meet different friends, challenge different opponents, and trigger different plots.

As a fan game of Touhou Project, about 40 characters are on the stage.

There are many roles that hinder the fund from appearing, which will exist in the text introduction and background board.

Many characters with different personality and ability, either to be reliable companions or to become tough enemies.

Write about your own adventures, meet them on the way, and embark on your unique journey.

Ava, however, has lost her voice, and due to her mother’s blindness, she cannot rely on visual storytelling. Ava’s one form of communication with her mother is the powerful musical instrument she wields.

The game features a unique gameplay, blending puzzle elements and music to create a dynamic music creation environment. In LightBreak, you control the Magical instrument that Ava is playing - to help her connect with her emotions and communicate her journey to her mother.

LightBreak’s main objective is to help Ava play the correct notes on her musical instrument so that she can describe her tales and reconnect with Mother after many years of separation.

The Gameplay is a novel narrative-driven fusion of Audio and puzzle elements. Each face of the magical instrument represents a “track” on the bigger mix. sometimes, your Instrument is out of tune, and you need to tune it to play the music correctly. Eventually, players will enter flow as they essentially create music by fixing up each track of the music. When they find the correct tune, the environment changes drastically as the instrument will render the music and show the visual representation of Ava’s memories connected to that song.

OneShot

OneShot is a game I first heard about in January of 2021, a very long time after its release and I finally got around to picking the game up on 22 November and, since then, I’ve already poured 30 hours into the game. Simply put, it is a fantastic game that I recommend to everyone, even those who are not fans of puzzle games - I’m not one and I still enjoyed the game greatly and it is one of my favorites of all time, if not my favorite.

I love just how unique the game is compared to other games I’ve played. For one, it stars a lovable protagonist and you can’t really go wrong with that. But, not only that, the game is well-written in its story and it makes you feel a connection to the protagonist (whom is named Niko) and the world around them. It is the only game I have ever played to make me feel an emotional attachment to the world and character. The game is very intricate in the details it provides and there aren’t any major plot holes, which helps make the experience more enjoyable, plus it is just a fun game overall.

This game… Oh my god, this game. It was one of the best games I have ever played in my life. No other game has ever made me question my choices, even Undertale. I do not get attached to things or characters in games, but this one does that intentionally by making you someone that Niko (the protagonist) contacts directly.

! Another way it drags you into the world is by placing files or documents on your computer that help you solve puzzles; I have had no other game do that before.

Teacup

Teacup

Teacup is a wonderful and cute game suitable for children - I felt like a kid reading a storybook with my mom in this game! The art, music, and narrative design are all so beautifully put together. I received a review copy for Teacup and played it live on my stream: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1183536340 . It’s not my usual game, but the art attracted me to it.

However, I noticed some accessibility issues and a small settings section. Since this is a highly narrative-based game, I was hoping to see optional text options like changing text size (for those who have difficulty reading small font) and changing font styles (Open Dyslexic to be more accessible). I also noticed that it was only in fullscreen mode and this can be detrimental if the player has only one screen. It would be helpful to have text-to-speech available for players who are blind.

Teacup is a short and cute adventure game where you play as an introverted frog named Teacup who is about to host a tea party. Though shortly before doing so, realizes that she is currently short on tea and therefore must explore the forest where she meets the many characters around her as she collects what she needs for the party. The highlights of the game for me are both the visual artstyle of the game and the conversations that you have with the various residents of the forest.

Unpacking

Unpacking

Unpacking is a gem. It’s a puzzle/discovery game with gorgeous art and great sound. In Unpacking, you’ll unpack the main character’s stuff during the moves she makes in her life - from moving into her own room as a child, to going to university, and beyond. My favorite part of the game is how you’ll learn bits and pieces about her every time you pull something out of the moving box, and see her grow and change throughout her life, all without ever seeing her on screen. It’s a subtle, yet beautiful, way to build a narrative.

Real player with 7.9 hrs in game

This game is way too small.

I paid A$ 28.95 for a 3 - 4 hour game. You can 100% this game in under 10 hours.

I understand that you can only do so much with such a simple concept, but that still doesn’t justify the price-to-gameplay ratio being so low.

It doesn’t have a whole lot of replayability either. The concept is neat, and the execution is well done. However it needs much more content to be considered a good game.

I suggest the developers build on the concept a little, maybe double down on the puzzle portion in later levels; perhaps some levels the boxes don’t start in their corresponding rooms and you have to figure out where they go. Something like that to add some more content.
