COVID Kawaii!

COVID Kawaii!

Fun tower defense game. Easy enough to be accessible to players not used to the genre but also has higher difficulties and leaderboards for those super competitive types and those that like to come up with different strategies to make their way to the top. Not only is the game is cute as heck, but with some of the proceeds being donated to a good cause, it was an instant buy from me. Would definitely recommend, looking forward to future updates.

Democratic Socialism Simulator

Democratic Socialism Simulator

A very simple political game, most of the gameplay is sliding option cards left or right, that offers a practical look how a socialist government in the United States might operate.

A player can carry out every dream of the left from Medicare for All and a UBI to ending cash bail and electrifying the nation’s buses only to go broke and have the very people you’re helping hate you. This game doesn’t sugar coat it -there are real political considerations that a left-wing government would have to consider in real life and you have to deal with them in this game too.

A really fun, fair priced Game for a few Hours. It isn’t designed to be played for more than that though since there are only few Policy Options to chose from. While there is a possibility to try out combinations of certain policies, that doesn’t help either since there aren’t many of those either.

Would be good if you would release a 1$ DLC with a ton of new Policies or a Free update with fewer new Policies or new Concepts (like, more Bars to influence).

The Game is reeeally cute and the artstyle is very pretty.

Anarcute

Anarcute

Anarcute is a game that involves leading critter rioters against the Brainwash Patrol, who have dominated the world and rule through broadcasting propoganda and I guess sleep-signals (hence the sleeping rioters, and the ones who are attached to the side of buildings). The game has a cute aesthetic based on chibi models, simplified yet interactive backgrounds, and catchy + cute electronica soundtracks. It involves massing up rioters to gain abilities (which can also be lost if you lose rioters at certain thresholds), some of which you need to traverse, but the game works well in that you can find other routes and means to get through the level with what is given. New abilities range from improving speed or stomping, to bouncing and endless projectles, as well as ludicrous ones like enamoring cops with cuteness or grabbing buildings and throwing them on your enemies. Though I see the most usage out of the molotovs one.

Anarcute is a super kawaii game where the player has to manage their mob of cute chibi animals as they liberate different cities. The contrast of cute animals destroying cities and causing mayhem is what drew me to this game to begin with but the challenge is what kept me around. Well, that and the fact that THEY HAVE UNICORNS!!! I mean there really should be more games with beautiful sparkly unicorns.

Some of the levels are easier than others but the real challenge comes from the fact that individual rioters cannot be controlled, only the crowd as a whole. This can become annoyingly frustrating in some situations. At times it feels like herding cats, but what else would you expect from a bunch of adorable anarchists?

A love letter to Mega Man except much shorter and much, MUCH more forgiving. Unless you’re playing with modifiers to make the game harder for you, you get infinite lives and a fair amount of checkpoints each stage. The game takes 1-2 hours to complete depending on your skill level. (I’m average so I died quite a bit, but not to the point of getting frustrated.)

Since this is a fast-paced platformer, the game “feel” is probably the most important thing here, and GB Rober nails it. The controls feel really good, and the gameplay mechanics, while simple, provide enough variety to keep you entertained.

I really like this game!

I haven’t put a lot of time into it, but so far the enemies and level design feel very fair.

The fact that unlimited lives are on by default really encourages experimenting with your special moves and new weapons, as dying doesn’t really have any consequences: the levels are short so it doesn’t take long to get back to where you were and weapon energy refills on its own.

The roll mechanic is amazing and it feels incredibly rewarding to get a bunch of speed and airtime by jumping off platforms at the right time, skipping huge chunks of the level. This along with the dash makes the game really fun to speedrun (and on that note i do wish there was some sort of timer to keep track of your performance, but it’s not a big deal).

Anti-Science Brigade

It is amusing to be reviewing a game about fallacies and forcing false dichotomies and not being able to give a review score more nuanced than “recommended” or “not recommended”.

This is likely obvious, but if the theme doesn’t appeal to you, don’t bother. The combat mechanics are simple, there are (fairly minor) UI frustrations sprinkled throughout, and character pathfinding is hit-and-miss. I also unfortunately can’t say this is an easily picked up title for those unfamiliar with RPGs/games in general, because tutorials are sparse and menus are a bit fiddly, so it helps to be quite familiar with the genre and therefore what to look for and how you might generally expect things to work.

The artwork is adorable and charming. The music is absolutely on point for setting the tone and atmosphere. The story has a good level of intrigue with compelling characters. The game play is challenging which made completing the game feel all the more rewarding.

Coffee? Tea? or perhaps Melee?

In 3HG’s most ambitious project to date, Sovereign Tea offers a unique Tactical Strategy adventure with a focus on unit-to-unit combat and resource management. Whether you’re new to the genre or a seasoned veteran, this game will present a stimulating blend of challenge and catharsis to your experience. The tutorial is intuitive and the first levels offer plenty of room to catch and correct mistakes. There’s even a hint function before each skirmish. However, out of pride, I didn’t really check it. That is, until around the end of the game. Much to my surprise, they weren’t step-for-step guides, but little details to keep in mind that may inspire a new strategy. There were a couple of instances where I knew I had a winning strategy, but I needed to grind through a some extra turns to yield results. Luckily, battles can be revisited (reenacted?) and if I were so inclined, I could try new loadouts or beat my turn record. The characters are written with such detail, they practically read with their own voice. It was fun hearing about a character and speculating how they’d behave or interact with others when they’re finally introduced (based on what I know about their namesake).

Paper Shakespeare: Stick Julius Caesar (with a dagger)

Paper Shakespeare: Stick Julius Caesar (with a dagger)

It’s Shakespeare’s classic play of political violence that doesn’t endorse politics or violence!

Choose to watch the play in translated (-ish) English, or GO BONKERS NUTS AND START YOUR OWN POLITICAL REVOLUTION! Doesn’t THAT sound fun?

Featuring an ADVENTURE MODE that allows YOU to decide the fate of the Roman Empire (to the extent that Julius Caesar’s timeline happened in). Try not to have it fall! Oh no, that would be bad!

Pick your allies, pick your enemies. Try to be the reigning leader of Rome!

  • Manage your political advisors well. Some may not be best suited for every situation that arises. Or go it alone because you’re a strong politician that don’t need no advice from others concerning the current situations of the city.

  • Work on the clock - your actions will determine the FATE OF ROME after the assassination of Julius Caesar.

  • Don’t feel like playing Adventure Mode? That’s cool. Have a sit and watch the play in Not Shakespeare Mode.

Talk to Strangers

Talk to Strangers

Where can I start with this Quirky little game. Talk To Strangers aka(Door To Door Salesman Sim) is one heck of a charming game with quirky characters hiding behind each door each with their own little challenges when you face them, The soundtrack is eerily catchy especially the main menu music and I cant seem to get enough of it, The game play is super challenging but fun and the game is super replayable especially as there seems to be no end of achievements to grab and endings to find! all whilst making sure you dont get either killed, too depressed or angry and rage quit oh and dont annoy your boss!

Surprisingly entertaining and even challenging casual game, if you are eager to make a sale at every house, learn about the different stories and endings, and maybe get all achievements.

I would describe it as choice-driven rouge-like drummer (*door-to-door salesman) simulation. I was quite flummoxed when I tried this for the first time and fell for some cookies from a nice old lady. Instead of quitting, I learnt the ropes, became an artful barterer, and can even count the Death to my customers.
