Witchfall

Witchfall

Welcome to the world of Witchfall, a land filled with wizards, witches and just about every magical creature you can think of. Legend has it that there is an all powerful object known as the Hawk’s Legacy. To protect this legacy from falling into the wrong hands, it must be kept moving, and thousands of delivery mages traverse the land each day with the assumption they may be carrying said object.

Meanwhile in Ludwick Town, five hopeful little wizards and witches in training are hoping to take on this task one day, and are about to start their final exams. Under the wing of the Great Master Divarnas, they’re sure to have quite the adventure..

- Koemi -

Koemi’s an energetic kitten who dreams of becoming the world’s most powerful sorceress! She’s a bit overconfident and quick tempered, but she has no tolerance for evil and is always willing to help anyone in trouble.

- Rez and Orbessa -

Rez and Orbessa are two inseparable best friends who work wonderfully as a team. Rez can come across as air headed and not always aware of dangers around him… but he’s brave and always ready to protect his friends. Orbessa, however, tends to worry a little too much - but everyone knows that comes from her loving little heart.

- Sloberg -

Sloberg is surprisingly a speedy turtle who wants to pass his exam first-try on principle, and to prove to everyone he’s not a boy to make fun of… Sloberg can come across as sassy and sarcastic, never really seeing the bright side of things. However, deep down he knows who his friends are… and they might even get a smile out of him one day!

- Maya -

Maya is a shy and timid raccoon who works very hard to show people she can be helpful, and hopes to do something everyone will remember! She is always very polite… even to her enemies… and she absolutely loves Strawbs.

- Envel -

Envel.. well, just. Envel. A lovable little sheep who loves to partake in her hobby… flying? She’s a very happy girl as she mostly has her head in the clouds, but very rarely, she’ll come out factual outbursts that can silence a whole village..

Witchfall is filled with many collectibles and other wonderful things to find, many secrets to discover, and a whole bunch of mini games to enjoy! There are also an abundance of Side Quests to take! Those who seek a completionist run can expect a whole bunch to do!

If you’re a fan of trading cards and such… Witchfall is the game for you! Collect over 100 different cards spread around the world, trade them with NPCs to get even better cards, and why not see if you can collect them all? And watch out… some of these cards might just add special bonuses/abilities, and they don’t always carry just benefits with them…

Very nice and challenging game! The mouse is really cool!

I did enjoy this game for the five levels I played but then a problem cropped up that when I had beaten the first boss the game wouldn’t move me on to the next level. I tried everything even going back to the menu page but when I did that I found I had to play the fifth level again and still didn’t get moved on after the first boss. To be fair I requested and received a refund but was disappointed because I like this kind of game very much. I note from other reviews that no one else has said anything about this so I dodn’t know why it happened to me. Based on my love of this kind of game though, I still recommend it.

For what it is and the price it is: A Geniune Mini-Masterpiece

A short-as-hell but thoroughly entertaining mini-3D Platformer. I’ve gained a lot of enjoyment from this title, and then replaying it going for those additional S ranks. The game shows you what it has to show and gets out before you can notice how limited the title really is. Despite that, it’s rewarding to master Toree as a character within the space and levels flow well feeling the perfect length. The only element I feel is under-utilised in the title is the horror element. It’s non-integral to the game to the point that I don’t think it’s even worth a spoiler warning. I played this originally through the 2021 Edition of Haunted PS1 Demo-Disc and I thought it was a blast both there and here but it definitely feels as if the horror elements were just included as a reason to include it on said disc. (That and the retro-grade aesthetics of course.)

Well worth the time, and certainly worth the money. Beating the game takes just short of an hour and going for all S-Ranks took me 3. It accomplishes what it sets out to do, and while it doesn’t go much further, it’s only a dollar - you can only really fault it so much :P

The only issues I really took with the game were the fact that the air fans don’t work properly on anything above 60hz, which makes 2 S-Ranks notably harder - and the horror aspects felt completely unwarranted. Starry Sky’s whole gimmick struck me as a thing that was thrown in there last second, especially considering it was never followed up on. It just feels like it’s hindering the game from being true to form, personally.

Where’s Samantha?

Where’s Samantha?

Incredibly simple, yet pleasing game. The mechanics are awesome – something that I look for in any decent platformer. The characters are cool, and though they are so simple pieces of cloth, you do get attached to them. The story is very interesting, and is enhanced by the voice actor. Great game. Definitely recommend!

Copying games isn’t always a bad thing if you do it properly and with measure. That being said this gamei does an awful job in copying Thomas Was Alone.

This is a platformer with a bad story, really poor writing and the whole story is a mess. There were supposed to be puzzles in this game but there really are not any and the only time a laughed when the narrator said- Stupid puzzles- and _ These puzzles are getting harder- , SO NO PUZZLES.

The platforming is also basic stuff and at times frustrating because of a bit hit and miss controls. You can also expect a lot of cheap deaths because of the limited view FE : You will go forward and get hit by a laser or jump down without being able to see where.

Really good game, one of the few games we’re playing this year.

Breaking Gates is a promising indie metroidvania with charming graphics and nice atmosphere.

The gameplay is fun with straighforward mechanics: hit/jump/dash plus unlockable special moves.

The game offers hours of gameplay with:

  • many areas to explore; so far the early-access game includes 2 full chapter plus 2 more worlds apparently in the works

  • main quests and daily side missions

  • a variety of enemies, with a main boss at the end of each world (bosses are quite difficult)

  • special moves to learn and unlock, you can upgrade these skills to make them more powerful

Drop Alive

Drop Alive

Review brought to you by:

TentacleBunny’s Cozy Cottage

Drop Alive is a very cute and fluffy platformer that will challenge you to have fun and have good time through all the game levels.

Drop Alive was developed by Invi Games and published by Ipsilon Developments and is accessible to everyone since it is a free to play game on Steam.

In Drop Alive, you play as a small drop of water lost inside a big house and you have to help her get out of there through several challenging levels. It also plays away with the climate conditions and the multiple water states to help you traverse and reach the final stage of each level. You also have to collect 3 special coins on every single level to have a perfect score and sometimes those are not easy to accomplish. Especially tricky because if you die, you will have to restart the level from the very start.

Very adorable free to play game. I’ve 100%’d the whole game, gaining all achievements and unlocking all the costumes. For some reason, when I went back into the game after getting the final achievement (went to unlock the costumes, you use the coins you gained to “purchase” them), the game acted as if I hadn’t fully completed some levels, which as I already have the achievements and all my coins were still there so I could purchase all the unlockables, it didn’t really matter. But be warned that this game does have a chance to not always save your progress.
