Button City

Button City

This game is one of the few ones that I have bought either as pre-order or within release week, and I am clad that I did. I really enjoyed playing and streaming this game, with its cute polygon graphics. It was interesting to see how well game works without any voice acting, only text and some sound effects when needed. However as expected, just released games still have some bugs and glitches, but I managed to find only two that either stops you from advancing without resetting the game or mini-game, or stops you playing altogether, one before and one after playing the game.

My childhood was not surrounded by tons of friends, and the few I had didn’t share the same passions as I did: my passion for all kinds of video games was kept mostly to myself while growing up, and while playing this game, I found myself surprisingly feeling like the young, lonely girl I was when I was growing up– but it also made me feel like the fun-loving, yet somewhat mischievous kid I was before adulthood.

I saw this game’s demo in a recent Steam sale based on animals, (one that was actually not on the front page of Steam, and was hidden!) and none of the games really appealed to me, aside from this little one hidden in the cracks. I decided to grab the demo while it was active, and I was kind of in love with it, keeping skepticism in mind. While the game shows need of polish, with a bit of a sluggish pace and the need of a few of some control improvements, what this game offered beyond that was genuinely another experience I wasn’t expecting at all.

Shindig

Shindig

Hey there hoomin!

Tbh, the moment I started creating my character, the game had already got me. Not just because there are many (hair) styles you can choose from, but the developers really made an effort to make variety and diversity one of the integral components of this game. And as you can feel while playing, they were very successful in doing so.

The individual and lovable characters are the main reason for playing this charming game! They come to life through their different personal backgrounds, their relationships between one another and their different ways of speaking (which is evident thanks to the great voice acting). But most of all, these characters are damn funny! Playing this game really made me laugh out loud - a lot. That’s why Shindig is not necessarily a single player game. You can also play it together with your family or friends to enjoy the jokes all together. I did the latter and it was one of the most entertaining nights in months.

Gonna have ourselves a Shindig!!!

Bought this charmingly illustrated and voiced old-school Point and Click adventure for my nine year old daughter, but found myself drawn in to the cartoon world of Shindig too, so spent the next few hours playing it with her and we both thoroughly enjoyed the game.

I know she liked this game as she has been singing the catchy tunes ever since!

A really nice concept (who doesn’t love having a party?) with friendly and memorable characters. Would recommend for young and old gamers alike who are looking for a relaxing evenings gaming.

Teacup

Teacup

Teacup is a wonderful and cute game suitable for children - I felt like a kid reading a storybook with my mom in this game! The art, music, and narrative design are all so beautifully put together. I received a review copy for Teacup and played it live on my stream: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1183536340 . It’s not my usual game, but the art attracted me to it.

However, I noticed some accessibility issues and a small settings section. Since this is a highly narrative-based game, I was hoping to see optional text options like changing text size (for those who have difficulty reading small font) and changing font styles (Open Dyslexic to be more accessible). I also noticed that it was only in fullscreen mode and this can be detrimental if the player has only one screen. It would be helpful to have text-to-speech available for players who are blind.

Teacup is a short and cute adventure game where you play as an introverted frog named Teacup who is about to host a tea party. Though shortly before doing so, realizes that she is currently short on tea and therefore must explore the forest where she meets the many characters around her as she collects what she needs for the party. The highlights of the game for me are both the visual artstyle of the game and the conversations that you have with the various residents of the forest.

Well written short visual novel about delivering letters. Story is net and there are small decisions in dialogs and some fairly easy puzzles.

Definitely worth the price!!!

The short story that stopped abruptly, when it ended, I was still expecting something, laughing and crying. The content of the dialogue is easy to understand, the mini-games are simple and interesting, the characters are also very cute, and the gangsters who can fight and trade in a fair and just way are really unsatisfactory. When I looked at the name of the game, it made me smile again.

A little nice simple game, nothing more to say. I think a continue with more lore would be aprreciated but not necessary.

I wanted to report a bug tho:

If you fast forward the dialogues the text clouds will disappear and you may remain stuck in a dialogue forever because of not seeing the option to close it.

Thats because i tried to speedrun it to see if it had more ending, but no. So don’t waste your time trying to find it-

Solo

| Byte sized review | Archipelago’s of the heart |

| Graphics | 4/5 - One word: Gorgeous. Solo makes stunning use of its low poly graphics through the vivid use of colour that really causes the graphics to pop on the screen making it a total treat for the eyes. |

| Performance / Bug & Issues | 5/5 - Solo is not a demanding game, so therefore should run perfectly on most machines. During my playtime with it, I did not encounter a single bug as the game played flawlessly on my system. |

Solo is an adventures, introspective, puzzle journey that focuses on love.

Before sailing to the island you’ll have to pick your gender and sexuality, which doesn’t stop at male or female and hetero or gay.

You can also be non-binary and love any gender, whatever floats your boat.

It was something I never seen in games before and that’s why I wanted to mention it.

As a pansexual I enjoyed this option even though it wasn’t really necessary, it’s still a nice extra.

You’ll move your way around the island by completing box moving puzzle’s and answering questions about your experiences with love and relationships.

Midnight Scenes: The Nanny

Midnight Scenes: The Nanny

I left this game on for a while, while doing other things. So I’m not sure how long it actually took to finish this. I like short-form horror. You know, like Tales from the Crypt. So this made me very happy, as it ended up feeling like that. I could tell a lot of love and care was put into making this. I can also tell that I might be missing some clicky-chievements somewhere along the way. I see there’s a second game. When it comes time, I am going to scoop it up and see how all it is.

I played The Nanny at Midnight and I really panicked! Lovingly drawn pixel art graphics with an original and cinematic story. If you like interactive storytelling, and you’re a fan of The Twillight Zone or The Outer Limits, you will enjoy this game.

I definitely don’t recommend scaredy-cats to play The Nanny in the dark.

The pixel art graphics are not only beautifully drawn, they also look like you’re looking at an old TV box from the 80s. Likewise, The Nanny offers plenty of surprises.

My only criticism is the saving and skipping. When I had to finish the game at night, I couldn’t cache. I had to play The Nanny all over again. I could not skip scenes I had already seen with ESC.

Cabin Fever

Cabin Fever

This game is fucking art. I had to swear just to emphasize this. This game had me gripped from the moment I pressed Start. I couldn’t stop playing it from beginning to end and if it wasn’t 1 am as of the writing of this review, I’d go in for round two. The music, the voice acting, the art, the pace, and tones of the story were so BEAUTIFULLY well done that I couldn’t put it down! The sx scene, not having it is a MAJOR disservice to this game because it isn’t shallow “pron”. I came into this game expecting the usual fan service you’d get with this type of co-ed lifestyle these two are having and despite one fan servicey scene, that is not here and that’s okay! It’s a beautifully captivating love making scene displaying love and emotion set free from their hearts. Yes' it’s somewhat graphic but it isn’t material you would want to use for self pleasure unlike their other games like Crush Crush (of which I gave way too much of my time on :D.)

I got all the endings and all the achievements. Imma do a review because I want to.

Overall complements:

The voice acting, writing and dialogue are pretty damn good. (I used the male VA) The artwork is probably my favourite aspect of the game. It’s always well done and immersive. The atmosphere ranges from wholesome contentment to unease and worry, peril, even. The art supports that feeling a lot. You want so much for things to work out and you’re constantly looking for how it will go wrong in a paranoid way so you can prevent it. It’s draws you in as a result. Because of this wariness, I picked up on honestly well hidden clues as to what was coming. It wasn’t a terribly shocking turn of events simply because of circumstances and knowledge I could presume that the game couldn’t really do anything about, but it did a great job at hinting at it without making it blatantly obvious.
