Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea DX

Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea DX

(Only finished the Stera side so far.)

The third and final game in the Dusk trilogy! Gameplay-wise, a lot more leisurely than the previous games. Though there’s no time limit, you are nudged along to advance the story with your Shallie’s “mood” meter mechanic. (Grind too much and she gets sad 😢) Also, life tasks are an interesting way to set mini-goals in each chapter, but they do get in the way sometimes – like when you inadvertently finish enough main tasks cutting your free time short.

The story is compelling (it leads to the conclusion of the mystery of the “Dusk,” after all), but the Shallies felt a bit weak – overshadowed by the presence of the previous characters. Still, it was enjoyable, and I appreciated that there was a bit of story in every chapter instead of being concentrated at the very end (like Escha & Logy).

ok i still not finish but hardly doubt that my second run for the true ending will change my opinion.

Lets start with the basic, being this the last game of trilogy i recommend play the other two first. Now if you are new to atelier games my recommend is forget this game and play ryza or the mysterious saga that stars with sophie. Now if you are not new and think in play the best trilogy i had to say that for me is arland saga but is a hard game by a lot, but this trilogy is the second best that you can find for now on steam (well even if they put atelier iris that i know this is better).

Important notice: this is a porn game, however the version of this game released on Steam is a censored and cutted one, with no sexual content, so it is very important to note that looking for information, walkthroughs, advices or gameplay on the web may lead to results not suitable for people of all ages, but rather direct and recommended for adults only, so be aware.

The following review is for the full version of the game and not the censored one.

I loved this game, simple and easy, but not boring, and well made for an RPGM title. In particular, I liked the art style very much, too bad that unfortunately these are static images and not animated scenes.

Typically don’t review games like this, but others should be warned. (adult content talk is at end of review)

From the screenshots, you can tell it is an RPG Maker game which isn’t a bad thing for most, but this one has plenty of issues. To start, there is quite a few translation errors which funnily enough Milena (the title character of the game) is even misspelled a few times. Speaking of names, you don’t have one, you are the main character and you are called Boy or Hero, lol.

The sound is okay and just stock sounds from other RPG Maker games I have played and the music on the other hand is annoying and muted that fast. No voice acting for those interested, but it would probably not be that great anyway. The story is quite short (only took 3 hours to beat the game and that included grinding) and it follows a boy merchant that wonders into the forest after a day’s work. He finds a big mansion and decides to go inside despite being warned about a witch that lives there earlier. He wonders around the mansion (has a few “encounters” with her) and you eventually find humans trapped in cells. You attempt to free them, but you have to find a key which you go through a forest in the mansion (yeah, don’t get me started on that nonsense) and you free them. After they are free, they tell you they are slavers and beat you up and run away to resurrect strong demons on the higher levels of the mansion (I guess slavery and summoning demons is just things you do). At this point I should probably mention that Milena takes a liking to you and saves you, takes you back to the underground city IN THE MANSION to recoup for the next “level” in the mansion. Sensing a theme here? The whole game takes place in the mansion despite it being a house, a forest, a fire cave, an ice cave, and a satanic castle (yes that is all of the locations in the game).

TOUHOU SKY ARENA MATSURI CLIMAX

TOUHOU SKY ARENA MATSURI CLIMAX

Very fun game. There is plenty of characters you can play. Voice acting and graphic is good too.

Though if you are mainly interested in playing online then you should think twice before buying this game. Vast majority of players are Asian and if you are, for example, a European you will probably have to put up with lags unless you host a match. Also, sadly there aren’t that many players. Depending on the time you play you may not even be able to find an opponent for quite a long. What I didn’t liked about ranked games is that it seems that if you abandon the match there is no penalty. I happened to play with someone who quited 2-3 times in a row. I know that it’s annoying playing with lags, it can be hard to win unless you are a way better than your opponent or just got a bit lucky, but if there’s no penalty at all for abandoning the matches you just cannot drop in ranking even if you keep quitting them all the time.

There was nothing wrong with the game play or presentation. The game is very entertaining to play and enough effort was placed into the audio/visual quality to pass as a good game. Everything about the game was fine all the way to the point when I started doing the single player mode, then I came into technical problems.

I am unable to complete arcade mode without the game crashing during the load of a stage. A couple of times it happened on stage 2, then another time on stage 5.

These crashes do also occur in Sky Adventure mode, but since it’s stage select and no progress is lost, I didn’t mind it as much.

Spice&Wolf VR2

Spice&Wolf VR2

This game is heavier than Cyberpunk and Half Life ALYX. For this game, I need to use 70% resolution scale on GTX 1660 Super and Ryzen 5 2600.

They also gave no option to disable or lower the quality of the desktop vr view mirroring. Unlike other games (e.g. beat saber) where you can put the mirror in lowest quality and keep high quality in VR.

btw,

Why they didnt put the subtitle above their heads? Just pin its location to head and direction to player camera…. Currently the subtitle are a pain to read and detract from the experience.

This is fantastic! It’s a great step in the development of the concept of a VR anime/OVA, though it is expensive for how much content you’re getting. The quality of this is SUPERB, everything about this is well done and really enjoyable to watch/experience. Acting all around is great from Holo and Miyuri, both are fantastic and express the characters amazingly well.

It’s a no-brainer to buy.

Only thing I wish we had was an option for the “petting” mode for 2D screens using the mouse as a hand, That’d allow for a better value for everyone.

William’s Love Prelude

William’s Love Prelude

Man, I had this game on the backburner for quite a bit. I finally decided to pick up the game, and play, after a bit of some bit of time to kill, and enjoy some Kemono content on Steam. While the game was overall pretty alright, it’s far from being bad.

(Because I would be updating my review, and the review character limit is dumb, I’ll add additional comments in the.. well, comments)

Art

The art of the game is pretty cute. The main menu screen having a uniquely cute forest sprite with a very pretty lighting effect, but I wished that would’ve been the style of backgrounds used for the game. The menu art of the game is pretty cool, being a more storybook style. The character’s designs are pretty simple, which thanks to that does allow for all of the background character sprites to be unique from each other without having too much details being added to them. In combat, your character sprites are also pretty simple, but are animated based on their condition, their stance, and their attacks. It’s all pretty neat stuff, so it’s not just a static sprite. The enemy sprites are a bit weird, as they are portraits than sprites, but it’s not much of a problem outside of that and it does compliment the more cutesy style of the game for all the regular enemies, and the boss sprites do at least look more menacing in contrast.
