INFERNO CLIMBER

INFERNO CLIMBER

Chibi Zelda-Souls is a very nice summary…

You start off as a character with many “lives/classes” and if u die with one, you will pick another class/character, you have to ress the dead one with a ress scroll you buy for 60 coins, and the dead one will be unaviable until you ress them or break their graves, which destroys all their inventory including money, but their acuumaleted XP will remain. You will eventually after the tutorial get to a base which is sort of like a nexus or a hub, from which u access the other areas. As well as stock up on supplies, and you will get new merchants after u kill a boss.

Inferno Climber is a fun ARPG With Major Flaws (EA)

My ratings/review

Difficulty: 10/10 ~ My favorite thing in the game is the challenge, yes, this game is challenging, way more than it seems, it compares to dark souls in my book, also the death system is pretty unique, when you die you start off with another character lose all your stats and have to get back to your body with what they call a “Death Contract” Which can be bought for 60CP (in-game currency) Unlike dark souls (you keep all your gear only lose unused XP “Souls”), when you die you lose your Character+Items, and have to get it back with another fresh character in order to continue with your old one, makes it really hard when you get into the harder areas because you’re running around with a level 1 character in level 30+ Areas, trying to find your godamm body Leveling two toons might be a good idea

Swing Lord

Swing Lord

This is a game that understands why games like Jump King are so great. It’s not about the frustration of falling, but the achievement of climbing and making areas you struggled with in the past feel trivial due to your increased skill. Currently I’m approaching the end of the game, but felt like giving a review after the amazing and terrifying mechanic that happens at the end of the second world [won’t say what it is of course]

There has only been one jump where I have wondered if I did it the intended way [some long sideways jump in world 1], everything else has felt buttery smooth. Really great game, I will do my best to spread the word about it! I even hope we get some continued support for it if it gets popular enough. More worlds perhaps?

Not a bad Yuri VN,

Fairly choice driven but not at the Level of Volley Ball Heaven or Room Mates, Those 2 are great VN’s (Though the later of those has Non Yuri options. Though Loren and Cursed Lands are the world of this VN and great to with Yuri and/or Non Yuri. But it is not in their league.

Enjoy it for what it is.

Robo-Boy Risky Venture

Robo-Boy Risky Venture

Not the best, but a nice pixel platformer, with obstacles, one of which is definitely taken from the game Plants vs Zombies, which is pretty cool. Of the disadvantages, only a too fast character, which is hard to control, but you can get used to it over time. 6/10, I advise you to play if you need to kill time.

To be honest, I expected that, like all platformers, this game will have the same problems as other representatives of the genres, but fortunately, this is not the case and the game is definitely worth your attention, especially for such a paltry price :3

600Seconds ~The Deep Church~

600Seconds ~The Deep Church~

More than any other, I think the word “odd” describes 600Seconds the best. More compelling than the sum of its parts, 600Seconds combines exploration with a fairly short and straightforward third person shooter adventure through a church. Exploring the empty church in the waking world for items for ten minutes before your siege in the nightmare seemed, at first, an unnecessary and kind of obnoxious feature (ten minutes is a long time!) though it does help set a certain kind of mood, but after dying in the nightmare once or twice the interest was made more clear to me.

First and foremost, I think it’s best to remember that this is StudioGekko’s first title. So know going in that it’s not very complex, not very long, and may be prone to jankyness. All that in mind, I still had plenty of fun with the game.

Item placements are not random, so learning the layout of the church and location of everything was really fun. I like that there’s no text or story to read and that I can just make my own assumptions about what’s happening, though maybe a little more to see would’ve been nice. After my first couple of unsuccessful runs, I thought I was done with the game but I found myself coming back to it the next few days to learn more and give it another shot.

Heya! Zombie Cecelia here!

This is gonna be my first proper-ish game review on Steam so expect a not so much a review than me waffling review

So I bought this game on release (15.02.2019) and played a bit of it before work and stuff happened so was too busy then kinda forgot about it for over a year and only just got back into it about a week ago… Oops!

I guess because I can’t physically go outside due to sickness and the lock-down, meaning my favourite bookstore is closed, gave me the incentive to pick up Visual Novels (VNs) again (I usually prefer reading from a physical book rather than online buut let’s not delve into the reasons for it lol plus VNs have their own magical quality so it wouldn’t be fair to compare the two… but I digress because this is meant to be a review)

(This article was written as a blog post )

Heart of the Woods looks like a nice interesting love story about 2 girls, one human, one ghost. It’s homo, so it’s just what I needed to escape from the real world. Although it appears to involve love across the living and the dead, which is a concept that’s been done to literal death. But hey, the game is well-received, it’s on sale, the artstyle is new to me, and most importantly, it doesn’t appear to be too long. So I guessed it’s going to be a nice fit for the spare time I currently have.

Hollow Witch

This is what I call a precision platformer! Simple moves, run, jump and dash that added to all the crazy traps and flying stuff makes your mind count time to evade danger. I mean it is a puzzle platformer in a way. Loved the illumination, mood and the music gives the final touch. Strongly recommend!

I loved this game! Its dark, the music is so good to focus and the simple mechanics makes it fun to play. Very challenging levels, lots of traps and projectiles to evade. The illumination is something else it makes the mood of witch stories very believable. Congratulations to the developer!

The Case Book of Arne

The Case Book of Arne

Speaking as someone who has a really hard time deciding on what RPG games are worth and not worth buying, this game immediately had me intrigued. The story is uniquely crafted and enjoyable, characters are charming with a healthy mix of humorous dialogue with many deep and emotional story beats tied into them as well. The Soundtrack is also one of the best I’ve heard for an RPG game in a long while! Only issue i had with it is the run-time of 6 hours. Can’t wait for the next installment when it comes!

Very fun game! Great characters, art, and the comedy and story is also top notch. I’m happy Playism got vgperson on as the translator as she did great justice on the translation! It was a very fun game to playthrough and I never wanted to put it down and stop! There was one bug I noticed with the timer not changing if you reload a save near the end of the game but it was easily remedied with a quit to title reload. Other than that one thing, I noticed no bugs, and I’ve played through the entire game.

Pale Cachexia

Pale Cachexia

Beautiful Sadness

Lonely. This is the first word that greets you when you start Pale Cachexia. Alone in the dark wood. The contrast between forest’s spring awakening and “ghostly gloom” of the night, with “rustling sounds of crickets”, nocturnal creatures and “ominous howls”, the feeling that someone is breathing right behind you while you venture among the endless unmoving trees - all set the mood of the VN right from the start and mark it as decidedly Gothic and Romanticist. With a sense of crippling loneliness and smallness the main character Esther stumbles through this vast, misty forest in search of a cure for her terminal illness, and finds herself in a gloomy Gothic manor, almost like she just stepped into a dream.

Short Review:

  • Kinetic visual novel (no choices)

  • Complexity in story and characters

  • Heavy topics of death, illness, grief, guilt, and loneliness

  • Somewhat open ending

  • Nice art, including unlockables

  • Soundtrack that perfectly enhances mood

  • Overall an atmospheric, emotional story I enjoyed!

Full Review:

What an atmospheric, emotionally complex story. This kinetic novel (visual novel without any choices) has elements of horror and fantasy, and there are some creepy parts, but it’s mostly mysterious and melancholic, dealing with the heavy topics of death/dying, illness, grief, guilt, and loneliness.

NOSTALGIA

Composed in a retro-futuristic setting, the discrete but penetrating music plays an enormous role for the cocktails of emotions that each area has to offer.

An old radio that plays a forgotten tune of a distant time, or a VHS tape that reveals a hint if the protagonist’s obscure past.
