Realms of Antiquity: The Shattered Crown

Realms of Antiquity: The Shattered Crown

A good game that captures the spirit of games like Ultima 4 / Questron / Magic Candle… if you can afford to spend the time it requires to play it.

My gripe with it is that’s It’s sometimes slow paced, with only a few keyboard commands that don’t make party management user friendly.

It would be nice to have some kind of option since it’s emulated (like a key combo to speed up things as featured in some emulators) to speed up the game when the user wishes it so. Crossing large plains or fighting weak monsters is sometimes a chore.

This game is very interesting in a lot of ways.

It is very lateral, in that you can essentially go through out the world and explore wherever and not feel completely powerless even at level 1.

The leveling curve feels somehow both extremely important and powerful but utterly unimportant.

This is a game where you have to pay attention to what you read, and everything leads to something. I still haven’t beaten it and im 74 hours in. Average play through is 110 hours.

I learn new stuff constantly, and exploring is delightful. The story is more complex than expected too, every trope you think is going to pop up.. just somehow doesn’t.

Morstairs - Part I : Oath of Fealty

Work in progress !

Inspired by a deep love of Baldur’s Gate as a starting point, Morstairs is a Real Time with Pause RPG set the troubled Kingdom of Loralia.

It is heavily in developement and no release date is planned until the game is perfect.

But you can still show you interest by wishlisting the game !

I am no longer able to work on this game full time, so I am releasing a demo, just to show off, I’ll keep working on it at a slower pace and will update the demo with improvements !

Might & Magic X - Legacy

Might & Magic X - Legacy

This game has pro’s greatly outweighing the con’s and is worth even the full price (strongly recommend the Deluxe version including the genuinely great Might and Magic VI game). There is considerable depth and rewards from exploration, party play and skillful tactics to make the game enjoyable and (if the first “Con” is solved first) well worth it.

The story diverges from the other MM games and was made to kowtow to the MM Heroes games. It is neither interesting nor fun.

Cons:

Playing, even after purchasing on Steam, requires UPLAY and a Ubisoft account. Players have had numerous problems with this and 90% of the complaints are entirely based on this. Those complaints are valid. I recently read the riot act to one of the Ubisoft developers who viisited the forum for this game, making it clear that players require this to at least be seamless. I recommend opening a Ubisoft and Uplay account first, then, succeeding with that consider purchasing the game on Steam.

Summary: Modernized retro dungeon crawler

Multiplayer: No

Might and Magic X is a square-grid-based, turn-based dungeon crawler that exudes a strong classic vibe. While it’s the tenth entry into the series, this is the first (and possibly last?) main game produced by Ubisoft since its acquisition from 3DO. MMX takes place in Ubisoft’s world of Ashan, which started with Heroes V. All the sci-fi elements are still vacant, resulting in a typical fantasy setting, with a standard story to match. Perhaps to capitalize on nostalgia, this game brings back numerous names and references from previous games in the franchise, but as far as I can tell, they are connected in name only. For instance, you may see a quest to bring a young royal to a circus as a nod to MM6, but then the quest is jokingly removed.

Theseus: Journey to Athens

Theseus: Journey to Athens

A great game which take you back to the old Ancient Greece - a super cool game for you who like deep into the story and learn something about the old Ancient Greece - amazing work…

This is a true labor of love. It’s a game based on Greek Mythology, not the Greek Mythology of Brad Pitt movies but that of the ancient storytellers. You travel through real places as the ancient Greeks imagined they had been in a time of myth and legend before history had become something concrete.

It’s definitely a niche product, but if you’re interested in the setting, you will get a kick out of it. It takes those stories that you’ve read and does a great job of bringing them to life and putting you in them.

good game

This game is riddled with problems from start to finish.

First, the story. The game’s story is almost nonexistent. There is no proper introduction sequence to convey the issue in the world or even the main characters' motivations or who they are at all. Things progress from point A to point B, but nothing is elaborated so the player has no investment as to what’s going on. Right until the end of the game, you do not feel any stakes whatsoever because you are unable to understand anything.

Next, the biggest issue is the glaring grammatical issues. Personally, having an error or two is perfectly acceptable, especially in a low budget project like an RPGMaker game; however, there are NUMEROUS problems that you cannot ignore them because of how noticeable and frequent they are. From improper spelling, missing words, or awkward phrasing from the characters, it adds up as, like I said, they are frequent. It is obvious there was no effort to spellcheck or proofread for the final product.

Avernum 4

Avernum 4

A classic RPG set in an underground world, Avernum IV is a fantastic game. In it, you control a guild of up to four characters, which can be customized both in appearance as in abilities. Each character levels up individually, getting a few points which you can then spend in their abilities; and, as a classic RPG, there’s plenty of them: from combat abilites (including things as melee combat, ranged combat, etc) to magic (two types, actually, one focused on magical attacks, and the other in buffs and debuffs) and “social” stats like luck and charisma.

Just a short review, which I have to write, so I can recommend this game (and I will post the same review at Avernum 4, 5 and 6 pages).

After finishing the second Avernum trilogy (4, 5 and 6) I can honestly say, this was one of the most rewarding roleplaying experience I had in a long time. I played a lot of rpg titles, from classics like Eye of the Beholder, Ultima 7 and Infinity Engine games to newest games like Skyrim, Mass Effect and Dragon Age series, and although Avernum does not have fancy graphics, I still think this series is one of the best rpgs ever.

Fated Blade

Fated Blade

Short game. Graphic is good.

Story the usual fight the bad boss.

You have your usual party of 4 = Fighter, Thief, Mage and Healer.

The Mage and Healer are overpowered. If they learn the first area spell your only worry is

enough mana potions (believe me you get enough and can buy even more).

The fights are simple and for every dungeon you only fight up to 2 different enemies.

But even if you fight a phoenix (a creature of fire) you can demage it with fire spells.

The dungeons are boring. No sidequests. No secrets.

Cute little RPG. I went start to finish in 3.5 hours. Lots of chests, easy to get the best gear. Great if you don’t like games that require a ton of grinding.

The Damathos Clan

The Damathos Clan

This is the one of the worst RPG Maker made game. I liked playing these kind of games after playing the Aveyond series. But this game made me regret having a likeliness to these kind of Games.

There is no use for Cash in-game, no Side Quests, not even an Interesting Storyline. If you try to complete the games thinking atleast the End-Game would be somewhat OK, You are gonna waste 6-12 hours of your precious time.

Although I bought the game for $1.25, I even regret wasting the Money on this. TBH, This is a quarter baked game with a simple boring Storyline.

small scale and no exploring

I like:

I really like the beginning of the game where the characters are introduced. Class based skills and abilities. Attribute Boost items.

I do not like:

Extensive dungeon maps – without useful items in the corners. Exploration in this game is useless. In general there are just a few items and equipment. The characters reach their lvl at different paces and i do not know why.

Fazit:

If you want a game where you follow a story along, without exploration and with tedious battles this game is for you. If this game dragged on a moment longer i could not have finished it. Not recommended.

  • Excellent graphic HQ, you see smooth edges on every objects & characters

  • Addicting gameplay (Turn based combat like Final fantasy)

  • Lots of weapons / armors to purchase and upgrade your character with just like Final fantasy 4-5.
