Chinese Paladin:Sword and Fairy 6
One of the best story driven rpgs ever. I started playing chinese/taiwanese rpgs just about two months ago with Xuan Yuan Sword Ex: The Gate of Firmament and was overwhelmed by it’s story, character development and design (places and enemies are just artworks) and I thought there won’t be any other game as good as this one. Luckily I was so wrong.
The story of CP 6 ist even better (in my opinion). It is an amazing and a huge one. Many twists and developments. The main characters are all very interesting and their background stories very intriguing (Ok, Ju Shifang was not my favourite but the other ones are incredible). In the beginning I needed some time to grow fond of the characters but after some time I loved them. The most interesting one was perhaps Xian Qing (the wolf demon), although his story could have been more elaborate.

So disappointed. BUT I love this game too much.
Been a fan of Chinese Paladin ever since a kid…Been watching Chinese Paladin taiwanese dramas and loved every series, especially the one starring Crystal Liu Fei and Hu Ge.
:l Have been waiting many years for an english translation of CP games.
One of the main characters is 15-16….and the guy that likes her is like around 20??? What, haha. There needs to be a character history list about these heros. Its weird…
The game is so glitchy. Why hasn’t there been a patch released yet?

侠客风云传前传(Tale of Wuxia:The Pre-Sequel)
Prequel to the Tale of Wuxia, stories in this installment evolve around the 1st & 2nd disciples of the XiaoYao Sect, depicting what events have transpired leading up to the conflicts in Tale of Wuxia. Now let’s talk a bit about the Unity Engine this game is based on: It’s free, versatile, vast cross-platform support, saves a great deal of money in development. IMO they’ve created a very good base model with this game that has a lot of potentials and I wish they’d keep exploring it, polish it & expand it to create more Wuxia games.

I hate this game as much as i love it sometimes this is the best game I’ve found where it feels you have progress every battle and should try and do every sidequest because it makes your party stronger in some way it doesn’t live up to it’s full potential in many ways which saddens me as I am in love with its concepts and execution.
The battles in this game are excellent as a turn based game with lots of conditions happening in battle like counter and crits having full access to increase your power with each one. Every single boss feels unique and you have knowledge of most of the hidden conditions of the boss I’ve only found myself caught unprepared by immunities for select few bosses that don’t display them. This feels like a good “I mostly care about my main character” kind of game giving all the best things to him so he’s the strongest.

Xuan-Yuan Sword: The Gate of Firmament
Things you need to know about before playing or purchasing The Gate of Firmament ( 穹之扉 in Chinese)
At the foremost, I have to be frank I am a fan addicted to The Gate of Firmament and its gaming series. But in this review I will try to elaborate neutrally the pros and cons of this game alongside with things you might be interested to know about.
- Languages Supporting. You attention here please, this game only supports English, Japanese, Chinese, Traditonal Chinese with the corresponding UI, menu and subtitles. So feel free to play if you are English or Japanese players, but unluckily for players in other regions, whether waiting for mods( or official translations, donnot be expecting on that ) or choosing not to buy is at your discretion.

Final Fantasy Love Stories? Pfft
This RPG i played it over three years amidst all the work and disappointments I had lol. and it is a real gem. Its basic outline is like 3/4 good FF games comprised together. But the story is a very powerful one and has one of the beautiful romantic storylines ever. The gameplay is pretty interesting, it has many locations, quests, equipment, forging, enemies and so manyyyy easter eggs hidden inside. It has this range of achievements that are so difficult and can be time consuming, to my knowledge only 3 people completed all achievements til date. I also think some achievements are bugged and that’s also a reason but regardless this is a pretty good game to play. Also this is one of the games where you can see how much the developers have cared for you, the small clock on the right up, good controls, mouse camera option etc. I was touched by it.

侠客风云传(Tale of Wuxia)
What a gem of an RPG this game has been. It single-handely puts most modern-day RPGs to shame. Turn-based, multiple endings, multiple paths, choices and consequences, fantastic combat, wonderful music, many secrets, reasonably good story, memorable characters, you name it.
The whole theme of the game runs loosely on Jin Yong’s Wuxia novels. Most of the martial skills you learn are either of Jin Yong’s established skills in his novels or game dev invented or other irrelevant powerful moves known to martial arts history like the Wu Ying Jiao or Ru Lai Shen Zhang. A good refreshment over the usual Western fantasy RPGs.

Bought the game last week, played over 100 hours.
The game is rough around the edges, I really can’t deny that. Before I bought it, I was scrolling through all the reviews, almost didnt pick it up based on some issues I read.
Were there any bugs?
Yeah, some. I wasn’t really affected by them to the extent some others had, but they did pop up every once in a while, nothing major though.
User Friendly?
Not really. Honestly, you’ll get the hang of the general systems in place, but the game doesn’t hold your hand in the slightest. There are some very good wikis though, great work to those who made them, really helped. I played the first playthrough without one, but really needed them for subsequent playthroughs. If you want certain endings or romances, you’re going to have to follow them. Also, the UI could use some work.

Jade Empire™: Special Edition
Jade Empire could easily been seen as the first step for Bioware towards more simplistic and action based gameplay however it manages to avoid the scorn many felt towards the Mass Effect and Dragon Age series by providing a beautiful and inspired world, the writing is excellent and the characters are interesting.
You start the game off as a student at a martial arts academy. Things quickly change however as you are charged with saving the world and restoring balance in the world, pretty standard hero stuff really. You won’t be on your great all important quest for long before some random peasant will ask you go save a cat from a tree however. Jade Empire is a game that loves procrastinating. Despite what should be a fairly urgent overall plot you will find yourself spending most of your time solving the problems of various little people around the world. Sometimes I’d even forget why I was doing all this in first place.

I would definitively recommend this game, it starts slowly but as I progressed in the story I appreciated it more and more, despice some flaws in the gameplay and the annoying bioware “black & white” morality system.
Technics:
win 7 + xbox controller, no problems , nothing to complain about.
Gameplay:
The controlls are a bit rusty and at times ungainly, it doesn’t respond as well as it should, making it at time very difficult to resolve a fight. The advanced combat style system, while a good idea could do with some streamlining, there are almost too many styles (something between 15 and 20) but you end up using only a couple of them exclusively.
