Army of Tentacles: (Not) A Cthulhu Dating Sim

Army of Tentacles: (Not) A Cthulhu Dating Sim

EDIT June 20, 2016: The New Game+ DLC is here!

The DLC improves the game a fair bit in my opinion. I am a sucker for dating sims, as my library can attest. This one keeps it interesting by not letting you date everyone at once, and having the characters actually mention something about it. Unfortunately, no one appears to be polyamorous, but there’s definitely more than just heterosexuality, which I know a lot of people look for in a game. The quests here are still just as ridiculous, but I grew even more attached to characters, especially ones I didn’t know you could recruit in the base game! It’s zany, keeps the humour, and lets the player in on the inner thoughts of various characters. Also university is always a fun setting to play a game in.

I received this game for free as a curator connect offer for my group Visual novel, JRPG, Anime, and bought the DLCs with my own money. Army of Tentacles: (Not) A Cthulhu Dating Sim is a supernatural parody visual novel with RPG elements by Stegalosaurus Game Development. It features a female or male protagonist by the name of Perry Hollycraft who is tasked to lead the Deep Ones (subterranean dwellers living in a remote volcanic island) to conquer the inhabitants of Innsmouth, a small coastal town in New England.

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous

TL;DR - I loved it, but it is rough in some areas. The people complaining about it being a d20 game are dumb for buying a pathfinder game and expecting it not to be. I love it.

Good -

Fun gameplay, decently implemented from pnp.

There’s a ton to do (for most part, more under bad).

The VA’s are great, when the lines are voiced.

The replayability is off the chart, I am on my 3rd playthrough and not bored of it at all.

SO many choices that can make one playthrough completely different than the first.

A Quick Summary:

Wrath of the Righteous, in a nut-shell, is an excellent party based RPG. It uses the pathfinder system which allows for very complex character builds. The overall story is quite good, and the graphics are definitely up to date with modern RPGs.

It does have bugs, but the developer has been fixing them. While the worst bugs have been fixed, there are still quite a few minor ones. I am sure given time that they too will be fixed.

The Good:

The Pathfinder RPG system. In most CRPGs I have played in recent years, the character building is fairly simple. You pick a druid or a fighter which comes with a few basic skills or abilities, then every few levels you may pick a few more. With the Pathfinder system you have a plethora of choices and other classes to mix and match in. Even basic classes have 4 variations, not to mention feats and mythic powers.

Sorcerous

Sorcerous

First Impressions

In Sorcerous you explore an interesting world with a band of engaging characters. Unlike most JRPG style games you’ll need to approach each battle a little more cautiously. Taking note of enemy weaknesses, different options provided by different equipment loadouts, what all the different items do and making sure to exploit every advantage as often as possible is key. Combat feels more inspired by Dungeons and Dragons rather than Final Fantasy. With a focus on difficult encounters managing HP and MP can be tense, but so far hasn’t been overwhelming. One potential downside to this is keeping track of what equipment offers what spells, which spells do what, and the various strengths and weaknesses against the different types of enemies.

So far its a fun game I just started but loving the music and the adventure.

Super Army of Tentacles 3: The Search for Army of Tentacles 2

Super Army of Tentacles 3: The Search for Army of Tentacles 2

This game plays a lot like a choose your own adventure visual novel. It has a lot of various places to explore and a multitude of quests to play through besides the main quest line. The combat in the game is either wordplay based or trivia based (much of it being US history).

I really enjoyed my playthrough of the game and will likely replay. Even though I’ve played thru it once, there still were many side quests I could go back in another playthrough to do and various options to drive the story other ways. The humour in the game was a plus for me too.

It’s 2017 and the Apocalypse is years ahead of schedule and the gods have disappeared. You, a Deep One, have awoken from the Dreamland and must find the Necronomicon before Nyarlathotep, The Crawling Chaos and his 7 gods does and restore things to how they were or bring in a new age.

Alright, so SAT3: TST2 is the third VN in the series and it’s not nearly as cool as I made it sound in the paragraph above. This VN is, at its core, pure insanity and chaos. It’s a Lovecraftian adventure where you fight monsters by answering trivia questions (Brush up on your Shakespeare.) and fly around on a floating ship/city while “fighting” Microsoft paint horror monsters and creatures. One moment you’re in Antarctica making friends with a… yeti girl with pointy teeth (?) and the next you’re challenging Alexander Hamilton to a rap battle and signing the declaration of Independence. (Reminder: It’s 2017.)

Chronicles of Elmyra

I’m changing my decision back to a positive about this game as I got in contact with the developer of where I’m getting stuck at and they are working on solutions to fixing the glitched areas as we speak. The game is great as well as the story and I can go back to recommending this game and that it is worth the money now. Thank you for contacting me 4p0 Informatica.

Hymns of Resurrection

SUMMARY

Hymns of Resurrection is a 2D RPG in the classic style of Valiant - Resurrection, Skyfall and Elendia Ceus.

The countries of Alandra and Wester have waged what is now known as the First War. A confrontation to decide who would rule over the Main Land. When the King of Wester fell to a disease, their twin sons started another war to decide who would sit on the throne. The Warrior King wanted to continue with the First War, while the Wise King wanted to surrender to Alandra. The Wise King has won the War of the Brothers, though Wester lives in relative peace now, tensions start to rise under Alandran rule. While the approval towards the Wise King diminishes, Karandir and those known as the Occultists, once right hands of the Warrior King, start acting towards his resurrection, and thus, a new war is on the horizon…

Calder and Ygritte are the King’s elite soldiers. They come upon Karandir’s plans and become the ones responsible for preventing the resurrection and the new war.

Shadowhand: RPG Card Game

Shadowhand: RPG Card Game

Shadowhand (Solitaire/Battle-Card)

Options include Full-screen/Borderless Window, Tutorial, Show Blood and Custom Cursor. There are 3 difficulties (Relaxed, Normal, Very Hard), and each is clearly marked as to what is different. Difficulty can be changed before each chapter if you so wish.

The Basics:

Gameplay is similar to that of Faerie or Regency Solitaire, with cards being placed one lower or one higher. The first big difference here is that there are no face cards (Jack, Queen, King, Ace). Instead the cards range from 0 to 9. Zero can go on nine, and vice-versa.

Real player with 34.9 hrs in game

Shadowhand is a very fun and (mostly) relaxing way to spend an hour here and there. It took me around 23 hours to 100%, playing only on hardest difficulty.

I found it best to play 1-3 chapters per sitting. There are 22 chapters in total, with 8 hands each chapter after the first few tutorial-type chapters. There are also three difficulty levels that can be toggled on a per-chapter basis, with each chapter being replayable, so there is no need to create new profiles.

The base gameplay is similar to the usual solitaire titles on Steam, where you have a stock or draw deck each hand, and the objective is to basically clear the board of cards in sequential up and/or down chains, one card at a time. The card numbers range from 0-9 rather than your standard deck of cards, and there are 6 or 7 total suits.

The Stone of God

The Stone of God

The game story was weak and their was no challenge to this game. It ran by itself for 80 hours because I forgot to shut down. For the price, there is MUCH MUCH better value in game hours and complexity - try A Tale of A Common Man. The dialogue in the game had glaringly obvious spelling and grammatical errors - there was just no effort from the game maker to make this fun. Or it was their first day. The maps were simple and all up, there were only about 20 quests. Terrible game. Don’t bother.
