Chicago 1930 : The Prohibition

Chicago 1930 : The Prohibition

In the state it’s in, it should deserve a negative, but I’ve paid less than $1 for it so I’m gonna be more lenient.

The premises are all good, there’s the good vibe of an old-school game and the levels should keep you occupied and entertained, with actually some planning skills required to clear them. That said, the game IS buggy and crashes randomly. The way you operate your characters is also quite clunky, and frankly, a bit frustrating.

Be patient and work around the bugs, you’ll at least enjoy it for what it is.

I have no idea which stupid idiot decides to publish this game in this condition but seriously - I’m impressed. I just don’t know how it is possible to bug game without bugs. How you can fuck up selecting characters is just unanswerable. To change the guys you literally have to kill someone in the mission and hope that game will not select automatically another one by itself. Overall I love the game - but CD version not STEAM edition. Bought it only because CD version doesn’t work on anything above XP and I just couldn’t record it with FRAPS on XP. If you need to record it or if you have Vista or newer… You have to buy it… Unfortunately… But if you just want to play and you have access to PC with something between 98SE and XP than just find and buy CD version.

FYI I know the game designer so getting that out of the way.

Is a really great single player game for passing time especially when you are a person who constantly wants to do better and better and beat their last score. That’s exactly what this game gives to you.

I can’t get enough of this game. From beginning to end I’m challenged to make the right decisions for my business. I didn’t do well at first, but once I kept playing and improving I was able to get the right strategy down. I’m hooked and will definitely be coming back to play this game often! If you’re looking for a chill (but intense) game to pass the time, I highly recommend Burger Joint.

This game is really a lot of fun. There is a lot to manage, but much of it comes pretty quickly as you try things. I had some questions and the devs responded very quickly. If you enjoy management games, this one is very worth a try. I got it on a bit of a sale, but I have already gotten full-price value out of it. Very fun. Very well done.

The premise is interesting and it is kind of fun when you get to run your department, respond to important and non-important calls. The developer has put in time and effort to come up with interesting calls, and I enjoy that sometimes the “bad guy” tries to shoot it out, sometimes they attempt to get away and on the odd occassion, they surrender to the Police (almost like in real life). Jurisdiction is a better version I think of 911 Operator from 2017. However, right now the game is very buggy and the camera controls are god awful. If the developer isn’t preparing to do immediate patches and continue to work hard at the game than this is a terrible investment … however, if the developer continues to develop this game … it could be a gem

Pax Narcotica: Trafficker

Pax Narcotica: Trafficker

BECOME A DRUG LORD

Take on the role of cartel kingpin In Pax Narcotica: Trafficker. Develop smuggling routes, establish distribution across the US, corner the market, and defeat your competition using violence and strategic intelligence .

Choose your own approach to expanding your empire - spread aggressively across the US, or concentrate on specific cities and markets. Use your funds to hire soldiers and buy weapons to defeat your rivals, or bribe key figures to disrupt their operations.

Manage every shipment how you wish, with a fleet of vehicles on land, sea, and air - invest in counter-measures and build impenetrable supply lines,

Violence is not the only option: Undercut your rivals’ prices and steal their clientele, or supply rival gangs with weapons and product and let them do the dirty work.

Hire a team of engineers and chemists to build a network of meth labs, weed plantations, and weapons factories, and reduce the risk of costly international seizures.

Send money and weapons south of the border to build up your base of operations and take over rival territory. Increase the size of your shipments north, or recruit mercenaries to expand your control into new cities.

RISK vs REWARD

Every shipment comes with a risk of seizure by the authorities, or hijacking by a rival, but when a shipment gets through the rewards are enormous. You must decide how to reduce the risk, with simple measures such as decoy cars or concealment, or buying shell companies to transport cargo across the country.

PLAN EVERY MOVE

At any time you can stop time to plan your next move. Arrange a chain of shipments; send operators to a city to assassinate a rival; transport cash across the border to pay for the next consignment, then watch the actions play out in real time.

TAKE OVER REAL CITIES

Expand into over 50 US cities, each with different demands and underworld networks. Choose your clients, negotiate the highest price, and help them build their market share.

CLEAN YOUR CASH

Invest in front businesses and real estate to clean your money, then send it south of the border to expand your power base. Always pay your suppliers on time, or risk losing the source of your power.

KEY FEATURES

  • Play your way: Expand quickly and aggressively, or build up methodically

  • Attack your rivals directly, or undercut their prices and cut off their funding

  • Cut your product to maximise profit, or sell the highest quality merchandise to corner the market

  • Choose how to invest your money; Buy larger shipments, or hire soldiers to expand your operation

  • Build meth labs, weed farms, and weapon factories, and hire engineers and chemists to maximise their output

  • Recruit a network of cops, politicians, and lawyers, to build your empire, protect your cargo, and clean your money

The Dope Game

The Dope Game

The price isn’t that bad, especially considering the current prices of the trading cards. The game itself however is pretty lackluster coupled with a mandatory install for another (free) game in order to unlock all the locations/perks in this game.

The “secret lab” isn’t implemented yet, and the “fun park” is pretty dull as well.

The horrible horrible soundtrack.

The music, and sounds, isn’t bad for the first couple of playthroughs. But once you get the basics down, and start spending -10 seconds on each screen it gets pretty frustrating.

Overview

Drugwars, Dopewars, and now there’s The Dope Game. Same concept, but now it’s on Steam. In case the player somehow doesn’t know the drill, every game starts with a player borrowing money in a turn-based strategy to speculate on the dope market all the while either avoiding (or winning) fights with gang members and cops while hoping to raise enough money to pay back the loanshark and keep buying and selling their way to riches before the days expire.

Bourbon Empire

Bourbon Empire

Bourbon Empire is a real-time strategy game set in New York City during Prohibition somewhere in the late 1920’s. Claim territory as your own, and profit from the rising bootlegging industry. But be aware, law enforcement can either be your greatest ally, or help in your destruction.

Conquer

Claim new territory within the city as your own. Collect protection payments from the various businesses and establishments within your neighborhoods. However, not all neighborhoods are the same, some have the potential to be far more profitable than others so pick your battles wisely.

Build Up Your Family

All those new neighborhoods are going to need some muscle to protect and manage it. Create capo units and assign gangsters from the neighborhoods to them. Deploy your crews to their respective districts and watch the money role in. Arm your gangsters with a variety of weapons from handguns to the classic tommy gun to explosives. Also watch them gain experience with every enemy they ‘whack’.

If you have money to spare, you can also purchase vehicles for your crews. Makes running around the city a whole lot easier.

Establish Illegal Businesses

Protection payments are nice and all (and it’s easy!) but the real money is in the rackets. Establish new enterprises ranging from loan sharking to speakeasies. Each type has their own pros and cons, so make sure you know what you’re getting yourself into ‘cause setting them up ain’t cheap.

Bourbon is the Name of the Game

Booze production, transportation, and sale in your ‘fine establishments’ will certainly help solve your financial woes. Alcohol is a precious commodity during this period and there never seems to be enough. It can both increase profits from some rackets and be a requirement for others to even function. Produce alcohol in modified warehouses, load up your trucks, and get it into your businesses.

Law Enforcement

No crime ever goes unnoticed. Every illegal activity creates some form of heat, if you let that heat get out of hand the police will step in. From imposing fines to arresting (temporarily removing) your muscle to outright shutting down your businesses, the cops can make life very unpleasant.

However, they can also be a real help. Greasing the right palms and having police on the payroll not only helps prevent heat from building up, but the police can also come to your aid whether they’re watching over your neighborhoods, raiding enemy establishments, or even protecting your booze shipments from rival families.

Well, that was 30 hours of weird. This game is so…odd that it’s really hard to parse my thoughts on it. It’s fun and the achievements were actually fun to 100% (and it’s one of the only games I’ve ever bothered doing that with), so I’d have to recommend it, but it’s also a bit buggy and stupidly hard so I’ll need to add some disclaimers.

At its core this is a fun “easy to learn, hard to master” management game, where you run a drug empire starting small and snowballing your way to a roller-coaster of an ending with a final level that was not fun, but was definitely an experience. The game eases you into the mechanics over the course of several levels, and there’s a lot of midlevel twists that can screw you over, but also add a lot of depth to the characters and some challenge. It punishes inefficiency, but rewards thinking ahead. The difficulty is over the top at first, but once you understand how to play the game it all falls into place. You’re always given the tools to solve your problems, if you manage your resources and employees correctly. What RNG does exist in this game usually falls in your favor by way of lucky loot drops from defeated enemies.

General Opinions about the game.

  • Opinions

The game is certainly interesting nothing like what I’ve played before. I will take a second to mention that i have played for 24 hours so i feel i know the game pretty well.

From what i have played and experience this is a snow ball of pain, along the lines it starts easy and ramps up in difficulty dramatically in a short amount of time due to there only

being 12 levels.

It has been an enjoyable experience but a grindy one, it should be said the later levels become stupidly hard to the point we’re you might be trying to beat levels over and over again slowly building frustration.

Gangs of Rikton

Gangs of Rikton

You’re back in Rikton City, six months after your parents died and you were charged with murder. You are free thanks to a mysterious stranger who now expects you to pay him back. For this, you will have to make a place for yourself in the middle of the underworld of Rikton City. What will be your destiny? Fortune and power? A return to prison? Or a one-way trip to the morgue?

You have to start with little profitable petty theft to earn enough money to invest.

  • Steal money, items and ID from passers-by’s wallets. Then resell the stolen goods to the pawnshop!

  • Create fake bank accounts using IDs and embezzle money from consumer loans!

  • Rob the neighborhood stores, but watch out for armed cashiers!

Become the biggest pimp in town !

  • Take the girls working in the streets under your protection

  • Earn their loyalty by effectively protecting them, giving them little gifts, or drugging them…

  • Or scare them by threatening them and eliminating the most rebellious. Who said the crime was moral ?

  • Invest in massage clubs that will serve as hidden brothels, and send your most beautiful girls as escorts !

The most profitable business, but also the most dangerous

  • Produce yourself weed and synthetic drugs like methamphetamine and ecstasy !

  • Buy from stores and from unscrupulous employees or wholesalers

  • Import cocaine and heroin through dynamically generated contacts, which can try to scam you.

  • Cut and retail drugs on the streets, but get ready to face the competition !

Your gang and the management of your territory are very important functions. Increase your production, your income and decrease the micromanagement.

  • Eliminate local gangs to appropriate their territory and no longer suffer from their competition !

  • Recruit lieutenants and entrust them with pieces of your territory, they will deal for you and will also find other activities to bring you small bonuses

  • Watch your men ! Maybe they will betray you to start their own gang or maybe they are undercover cops !

The police watch and remember!

  • Take care ! It won’t be enough to hide 30 seconds for the police to let you go. Every crime you commit may be added to your file. If this becomes too important, you will no longer be able to avoid your arrest… You will then have to undergo a long and expensive trial.

  • Use corrupt officers to diminish the importance of the case against you !

  • Don’t spill blood unnecessarily ! In addition to increasing your file, it will increase the police presence in the city.

  • Bet on fights, maybe your trusted men and girls will hear tips…

  • Buy and manage your Night Club !

  • Indulge yourself by buying the most beautiful villa and show your success

Gangs of Rikton is a game developed by one developer. Even if, the graphics design is decent and creditable, the emphasis was put on the gameplay. It is essentially a game for mature people, which has a detailed conception and is wide-ranging. You have been warned !

RIOT: Civil Unrest

RIOT: Civil Unrest

TL;DR at bottom

I honestly wish I didn’t have to say this, but…

The game just isn’t that great.

Before you rail into me, I’ll at least name off some pros:

-Animations are smooth during cutscenes. The color choices are nice, and overall the game LOOKS good…… in most cases. More on that later.

-The game is at least… trying? It’s certainly making some good things here and there.

-It finally came out at least. I’m surprised it even came out this year.

-The soundtrack is actually very well-done. Congrats to whoever did it, you did a superb job. Just wish your music was used more often rather than restricted to cutscenes.

RIOT: Civil Unrest was a game in which I really, really wanted to give it a chance. I honestly did. I stayed with it through crash after crash, bug after bug, BS moment after BS moment. In the end, though, I just couldn’t stay with it.

The game, while fun for the first few minutes, quickly devolves into nothing more than frantic running around, much like a real riot. The game has more bugs than the Amazon, and is about as stable as the political environment it seeks to replicate. Whenever I finished a storyline, which was only No TAV, as I previously played Global mode and didn’t want to replay the other missions, the game crashed just like that. No matter what I tried, when I clicked the button to take me back to the menu, the game froze up and died.
