Prison Girl

Prison Girl

In summary, I can’t recommend Prison Girl, the game has a large variety of problems, but I’ll keep it brief in this paragraph. The game doesn’t carry (or even reference) the story mentioned in the Steam page and in conjunction with that, the game is missing English translations in some dialogues. In addition, the sound quality is overall lackluster, the graphics are distorted and suffer from clipping - including the removal of characters’ clothes. Lastly, the actual gameplay loop is way too long, way too boring, and reoccurs way too often.

Left it on while doing work, thus missed the time period for refund, decide to play it out abit anyway. As a bilingual, I felt like the game is poorly written in both Chinese and English. Basically no audio, trashy sound effects seems to be from other games. The character mod I believe is taken from other games as well. The opening looks legit, the map is quite spacious, seems like it could be a perquisite to a decent game. But after that, it just goes downhill, no benefits of befriending others apart from the guard you met at first. The missions gets very grindy, fustrating and boring very fast. I had to alter some game values to see what happens next, to my disappointment, there are no further missions and yes, she didn’t escape at the end.

A Sceptic’s Guide to Magic

A Sceptic’s Guide to Magic

Thumbs up! I liked the story about a skeptical scientist learning to cast spells in order to solve a murder. A lot of people won’t bother with this game since it was made with RPG Maker, but I thought the gameplay was okay. You don’t have to worry about grinding up through different levels, because there is no combat. Most of the challenge is in finding ingredients for the spells. Some ingredients weren’t easy to find, but if you get stuck, there’s a walkthrough available.

The achievements are pretty straightforward. You either get them for casting spells or for getting to an ending. There are a few different endings so you have to replay the final encounter a few times to see them all. In a nice touch, the game encourages you to save right before that point, so you don’t have to replay the whole game again just to see the different endings.

Overview

If the reader noticed this game was made by Pilgrim Adventures (the same amazing developer who brought us the Space Pilgrim Saga) then chances are the reader will be able to infer that A Sceptic’s Guide to Magic is a casual adventure game made with RPGMaker, has lots of interesting characters with detailed backstories, constant flip-flopping between adventures of a primary and secondary main character, and plenty of humor. These conclusions are not far off the mark, save for the humor being less frequent in A Sceptic’s Guide to Magic and the mood dramatically darker compared to Space Pilgrim Academy: Reunion. Set in 1993 in Birmingham, West Midlands (and not Birmingham, Alabama!) forensics investigator Lester Chapman is called to investigate a murder in an abandoned house involving a young man with evidence about that suggests witchcraft was somehow involved in the murder. After apparently hallucinating, Lester is taken off of the case and comes into contact with a young witch named “Fi” who is also interested in the murder, and the two team up with Lester reluctantly becoming a practitioner of magic, and ultimately gaining the ability to investigate the murder with methods that prove otherwise impossible without Fi’s assistance.

Mafia II: Definitive Edition

Mafia II: Definitive Edition

I’m really getting tired of this unfinished re-released mess of a game that claims to be “Definitive Edition”

Update changes can be found the the end of review.

Disclaimer: Just because i have received it for free since i own the classic copy, it dosn’t mean that i should tolerate the progressively lower quality end product, ESPECIALLY since it was better before. So i will try to inform the new buyers to what they are signing in for.

The graphical uplift is barely noticeable to classical version. Sure there are some changes like; super shinny surfaces, better makeup for our ageing characters, altered weapon sounds and God like car lights that can blind the blind person. Oh yeah and there is two new cars;

Some would call Mafia II: Definitive edition a hot mess, or that It needed a lot more content and graphics upgrades to be considered “Definitive”. I’ve looked at over 100 reviews of this remastered game, 98% of which are completed wrong and unfair. Half the people never gave it a chance and never looked into the smaller details or took notice of anything. The other half are bagging on it because others are too, to the point where people are making up lies to make the game seem worse. This is my complete “REAL” review of Mafia II: Definitive Edition.

Mafia III: Definitive Edition

After 3 playthroughs, I decided it’s time to give this game a review. a different one from the majority of “Not Recommended” you see here. Mafia III Is deeply flawed and after the Definitive Edition upgrade, it yet remains the same but it had something special that kept me playing it for such a long time, I simply couldn’t leave a thumb down on it.

Story

🔹Mafia III tells the tale of Lincoln Clay, a colored man who got screwed by the greed of the Italian mob ruling the fictional New Bordeaux based on New Orleans. He loses his family and father figure and now he’s out for revenge. However, this is not your average vengeance story that ends just with killing the bad guy. Lincoln wants to take everything Sal Marcano the mob boss has worked for, makes him suffer just the way he did by busting up his rackets, taking over the city district by district and killing closest to Sal including his wife, son, and brothers. Throughout the game, after each main mission completed comes up a cutscene where the people who knew Lincoln the most are participating in a documentary show on his life and actions, picturing real-life photos and videos. This is where is the story shines the most as you realize piece by piece on Lincoln’s background and the damage he inflicted on the mob.

After putting in 85 hours into this game, I think I finally have a pretty good idea why I like it and why I hate it at the same time.

TL;DR: Great story and themes, horrible game design with repetitive gameplay, bad graphics and horrible bugs and performance.

Mafia 3 is a massive great tasting shit sandwich! It deserves the hate, yet it’s hard not to love at times. The solid writing and great characters with really good voice acting and pretty good facial animations, accompanied with great shooting mechanics and some improvements over the last game are spoiled by remarkably repetitive game design and the usual “open world” clutter of useless collectibles.

The Slater

The Slater

The Slater is an ambitious, entertaining and a very flawed game.

+The atmosphere really helps make the game interesting. Each level has a bleak and dark ambience to it, not unlike Hitman Absolution. Each level has a very different feel to it, making each level stand out on their own. It is also interesting to find all the dark secrets hidden inside each level.

+The disguise system is enjoyable. Each level increases the amount of disguises you can use and the game requires you to change disguise constantly so you can access different locations. It is also fun just to try out different disguises, even those of civilians. This is something I haven’t seen in a game since Codename 47.

### “Potential FPS stealth-puzzle hitman game with passion from spiritual successor”

The Slater is an indie game heavily gets influenced from Hitman gameplay and Max Payne 3 storytelling style. You play as Mark Slater who track down infamous drug dealer and discover the truth behind his father’s death.

The story is quite engaging and well-present via high quality models and cinematography. Mark is less chatty protagonist, violent, and alcoholic. It reminisces the character like Max Payne in interesting way. There are some cheesy lines, making The Slater like watching B crime film.

G-senjou no Maou - The Devil on G-String

G-senjou no Maou - The Devil on G-String

Let me preface this by stating that it actually took me picking up the VN once, dropping it, then forcing my way through about half of the story before I was firmly hooked. I’m glad I listened to the raving endorsements of my fellow VN-loving friends and didn’t give up a second time, as pushing through to the meat of the narrative was well worth it. I can’t remember the last time a VN (or book for that matter) had me up until the wee hours of the night unable to pull myself away from the intrigue. The Devil on G-String is a compelling crime drama that had me second guessing everything I thought I knew for almost its entire length before smacking me with a gut-wrenching finale that stuck with me long after I was done.

L.A. Noire

L.A. Noire

Great game with a unique premise. The facial animation is used to determine if a witness/suspect is telling the truth or lying. The voice acting is solid and the cases are based on real life cases of the era. The developers researched how police investigations were done in the 40s and it shows.

Sadly, I can’t recommend this game as you require a connection to RockStar’s Social Club. After 30+ hours of playing the game stops connecting to the SC. That means it wont' launch. I’ve reinstalled the game but still I can’t connect to the SC. Such a shame too. It was good while it lasted. I’d avoid this entirely.

Buyer beware.

I have bought the Complete edition and it did indeed have all the content and DLC. However in 2019 I had to uninstall to make room for other games, and here I am in 2021 trying to reinstall it, only to find that it only gives me some of the content.

It only gives me a couple of the patrol cases and the DLC that didn’t come with the original game and I found none of the regular game levels are there at all, which is odd as I had done most of them before I had to uninstall and still have trophies for them.

IN SHORT:

WHAT TO EXPECT:

One or two player FPS. Violent adult themes. Great crime-based setting. Brutal story. Graphically visceral, lots of blood and gore. Satisfying gameplay but very taxing on hardest difficulty. Fun multiplayer but low player-base. MP modes require a minimum number of players.

ACHIEVEMENTS: A mixed bag. Story ones cant be missed. Some require MP play.

STATUS: COMPLETE.

WHEN TO BUY: ON SALE. DLC rarely on sale.

As a person who works in the drug industry, I can say this is highly accurate. I’ve only played this game for roughly 2 hours and can tell the person who made this game is very experienced! As a fellow drug lord, it pains me to see people and the media talking negatively about us. For what we are doing, and helping fellow citizens out. This game allowed me to simulate my job in a virtual manner, and to my surprise, I was shocked how well detailed and choreographed every single element of this game is! To the conversations, drive bys, prison escape and hostage situations are so good its uncanny. Not only that, this game is free! what the freak! However, I do advise the developers to add more features, if you are going to release a paid or full version of the games, as listed below:

i like the concept.. good game

however

the police are kind of too alert and suspicious and even when you have no drugs or just money.. they bust you anyway.. :( for no reason. also the police hours it feels like you are already in prison :D

could be good to add some more options like sleeping or maybe the option of having own weedplant and for example during the process of growing as you has to water it u also might have an option water it with some mixture of drugs or something else and some nutritions and it could end up well like good quality or the plant coud just be ´sh.t´

Mafia II (Classic)

Mafia II (Classic)

Mafia II is one of the best organized crime games, especially if we take realistic games with organized crime as the main theme. It’s also one of the best third-person shooter, and aged very well, even a decade later, it still feels as good as back in 2010.

Story

You play as sicilian immigrant, Vito Scaletta, whose family traveled to the USA looking for a better life, but reality turned out to be more grim and harsh than Vito’s parents imagined. Seeing how his father lives a miserable life and became a drunkard due to his hard job and poverty, Vito decided to not repeat his mistakes. His father eventually dies during the accident at the docks. He met Joe, a local bully and a cool guy, and eventually, due to lack of jobs and poverty, the two decided to become a small time criminals, thieves, essentially, during one such operation, Vito got caught, and between going to prison or helping USA with the invasion of Sicily, as a native italian speaker, he decided to go to war. And that’s only the beginning of his life path.

“I BECAME A CRIMINAL BECAUSE I DID NOT WANT TO BECOME A VICTIM”

Welcome to Empire Bay. Sunny place full of opportunities for those who can take them. Yes, I’m talking to you Vito & Joe. Yes, you too Mr. Vinci. I see you over there Alberto Clemente. Yeah, that’s right Carlo Falcone. I can keep on naming these fellas over and over again because this game was filled with gentlemen like these.

Vito Scalleta got tired of bureaucratic bullsh*t so he got shot right in the butt, that he could leave Europe and go straight back to Joe, so these two can put in the work, get up in the Mafia hierarchy, sky rocketing up in the mob family ladder so he can get what they all want - THAT GREEN THING.
