Interrogation: You will be deceived
Interrogation: You will be deceived
Interrogation: You Will Be Deceived, is an amazing Visual Noir Novel with a compelling cast of characters that complement the rich story-driven detective-noir experience really well.
Playing as a lead detective trying to solve small-time crimes, gathering evidence, interrogating suspects and putting all the pieces of the puzzle together, it seems like just another day at the job.

Okay so first, let me be clear. I ABSOLUTELY love nearly every aspect of this game! However, due to strenuous replays and a little bit of lack of guidance, the tediousness has far outweighed my enjoyment which is saying a lot as I've really enjoyed everything else. This review is spoiler free aside from game mechanic discussions (fail conditions)
Pros:
Story - The story is truly engaging. Nothing's worse than a visual novel with a bad story. Interrogation gives you the sense of every character whether you've met them briefly or if they're your go to partner on the task force.

## Inspector Waffles
I've been following Inspector Waffles over the past 3 years or so and was extremely happy to have the opportunity to help out in beta testing as well as drawing one of the Woolball cards. The demo version covers the (relatively short) first of five chapters and does a good job of getting you interested in the full game.
Personally, I love the colourful pixel art graphics as well as the hand drawn cutscenes and the quality is consistently good throughout the game, also helped by the atmospheric music and good sound effects. The characters have a lot of personality (not just gruff street smart protagonist Waffles and his adorable partner Spotty, but also the geeky Pixel, the shrewd owner of the antiques store to name but a few) and the story goes surprisingly deep with some intriguing twists, quite a few of which I did not see coming (or at least not very far in advance) but which all made sense given the facts of the case.

Best Crime Dog Games.

### _Inspector Waffles_ is the cat’s meow, hitting the sweet spot for fun in point-and-click adventure games.
I love detective stories; I love point-and-click games, and since _Inspector Waffles_ combines those with cat and dog characters, it was a no-brainer to give it a go. Calling back to genre classics like the _Monkey Island_ franchise, the game hits its comedy notes for a fun adventure in a universe I'd be eager to visit again.
### Game Universe
_Inspector Waffles_ takes place in a universe populated by anthropomorphic animals, mostly cats and dogs, with common pet names (e.g., Spotty, Snowball). The player mainly takes on the role of the titular character himself, although there are a couple of scenes where the player acts as Waffles’ supervisor, Patches. Waffles as a character may be intended to be an old school cynical noir detective, but the game’s overall tone is one of humor. The game dialogue is replete with puns and jokes, particularly ones poking fun at cat and dog stereotypes, such as that cats love boxes and that cat booze is strong milk. There are also some humorous fourth wall breaks. The idiosyncrasies of point-and-click games are even sometimes written into the universe, such as the hilarious explanation for limited use magnets.

## L.A. Noire
Great game with a unique premise. The facial animation is used to determine if a witness/suspect is telling the truth or lying. The voice acting is solid and the cases are based on real life cases of the era. The developers researched how police investigations were done in the 40s and it shows.
Sadly, I can't recommend this game as you require a connection to RockStar's Social Club. After 30+ hours of playing the game stops connecting to the SC. That means it wont' launch. I've reinstalled the game but still I can't connect to the SC. Such a shame too. It was good while it lasted. I'd avoid this entirely.

Buyer beware.
I have bought the Complete edition and it did indeed have all the content and DLC. However in 2019 I had to uninstall to make room for other games, and here I am in 2021 trying to reinstall it, only to find that it only gives me some of the content.
It only gives me a couple of the patrol cases and the DLC that didn't come with the original game and I found none of the regular game levels are there at all, which is odd as I had done most of them before I had to uninstall and still have trophies for them.

## Chinatown Detective Agency: Day One
_''There simply must be a corpse in a detective novel, and the deader the corpse the better.'' - S.S. Van Dine_
Chinatown, Singapore in the year 2032 - **Amira Darma** is the female protagonist operating her first day as a Private Investigator in a dystopian cybernoir world where she feels her detective skills can flourish outside of the financially crippled Criminal Investigation Department that she once worked for under the command of _Superintendent Justin Koh_.

"Chinatown Detective Agency - Day One" is a prologue for the main game due sometime in 2021, and gives a first impression of what to expect.
In short: I found the game to be interesting and it's definitely got potential - hence my thumbs up. But it still needs ~~some~~ a lot of work.
**The low-down**
CDA is a retro-styled cyberpunk/noir-themed whodunit which plays much like a classic point-and-click-adventure with some light elements of life-sim and puzzle-games. From what I hear it is strongly inspired by the Carmen Sandiego-franchise with its chasing after clues and travelling to places all over the world.

## Murder In Tehran's Alleys 1933
This would be a decent short point and click adventure title were it not so… slapdash. The English translation is pretty engrish, though the voice acting isn't that bad. Some locations have two music tracks accidentally playing on top of another and the game characters have entirely different design and looks during in-game and cutscenes. (The protagonist alternates between having a black three-day stubble and a shaved face with silver moustache – and gains about 20 years of age!)
Puzzles can be roughly divided into two categories – there's item-using puzzles that fit the world, and random bouts of sudoku and tic-tac-toe that seem there just for filler. And I had the tic-tac-toe glitch on me. It's just so half-hearted and I'm willing to give historical adventure titles quite a bit of leeway.

I liked it, thought it was worth a couple of bucks. I wish the captions/writing would be proofread & fixed. The characters are good. The story is good, except that some of the pieces of the plot do not fit together because of the poor translation. Overall I was glad I played it, if you like old school point & clicks it's worth a shot. I really wish the developer would fix the captions/writing, that would really improve the game for very little money.

## Lacuna: Prologue
I can't wait for this game to drop. I played the prologue through and was excited. the game play was varied, there are alot of interactivity between the character and the environment. I really like how you can move through the game as the character talks to himself, most games you have to either skip the monologue or not hear it to continue playing. I never thought I'd like a game with this type of graphics but I've been finding more and more games like this that I really like. I saved the date on my calendar for this game.

This is going to be a gem! The prologue mainly is a tutorial of the game mechanics but it doesn't feel like one at all. It feels like you are experiencing a story and based on the previews of the full game, the choices you make have an impact!
Also, the world just fits my taste perfectly! This is some modern scy-fi stuff mixed with noir elements, considering you play a detective anyways. Filled with so many details, you can't help but feel like you were in another world for an hour :)
I also love that the game challenges you to use your brain and not just follow the instructions.

Notification: English is not my native language.
I played the demo of this game and after I've completed it, I simply couldn’t resist buying it. If you can’t decide whether you want to buy it or not, try the demo first.
tl;dr This game is one of the best I played in a long time. It's very organic and well balanced in almost every aspect: story, music, visuals and gameplay.
### Story
Take role of one of the two protagonists striving for survival and/or better life (which is quite difficult, as you will find out). The tragedy of this city lies not only in the recent terrorist attacks, but also in the appearance of an unknown murderer wandering the streets. The game has 5 chapters (with more to come in updates) and multiple endings, depending on choices made by the player.

Okay, Seeing as the game only has negative reviews at this moment, I figure I'll bring something positive to the table. The game isn't bad, Its strange, but not bad at all. It has its quirks, and its ups and downs like every game does, but by far it's not a bad game.
The style of the game, is dark, it even mentions it in the description. It following through with saying the games dark grey to black and white style is true to that of noire films, with a low detail style behind it, might not be the best choice for traditional noire but the game hits key points within the genre.

![Dirty Land](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/1382390/header.jpg "")
## Dirty Land
**Dirty Land** is a game about real estate, crime, and desperation, inspired by classic sales movies of the 80s and 90s.
Step into the shoes of _Frank Marsh_, a newly hired salesman for _Pure Sky Properties_, a real estate office where coffee is for closers and the status quo is hawking swamp land to unsuspecting buyers for a tidy profit. Will you cast aside your ethics for a quick buck, or will you take the high road and find a way to scrape by honestly?
#### Something New Every Day
![](https://cdn.akamai.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/1382390/extras/DirtyLand-Mall.gif?t=1606843762)
**Welcome to your new job.** At the start of every day, you begin out front of an unassuming, drab strip mall, where Pure Sky Properties is tucked away. Every day brings new characters to meet, new events to experience, and new stories to be told. What will it be tomorrow?
#### Choose a Lead, Go on a Sit, and Close 'em!
![](https://cdn.akamai.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/1382390/extras/leads.gif?t=1606843762)
**These are the new leads.** You'll probably close one of your leads today, but can you close two leads a day? You're gonna need some caffeine for that. But you know what salesmen say about coffee… you better prove your worth if you want that cup of joe!
Every day you'll have chances to make a sale. Learn what they like, study their habits, memorize what you can about them, and get them to sign on the line which is dotted!
#### The Birth of a Salesman
![](https://cdn.akamai.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/1382390/extras/DirtyLand-IntroCutscene.gif?t=1606843762)
**You are Frank Marsh.** You've made a mistake that has ruined your family. You can't change your past, but you can change your future!
Will you take the high road and stick to your principles, or take the low road and chase the easy money? Whichever path you take, you'll discover multiple endings based on the choices you've made and whether you succeed or fail in those choices.
On top of those choices, you'll need to balance your family life with your work life. Will you be a model father and go home and play with your kids? Or will you go out on another sit and close that elusive buyer? Go too far down one path and there will be consequences... your choice will change Frank's story - at work and at home.
#### Make Friends First, Sales Second
![](https://cdn.akamai.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/1382390/extras/DirtyLand-WifeRain.gif?t=1606843762)
**An office is a place where dreams come true.** A place to meet lively new people. A sociopathic manager. An elusive owner. An opportunistic coworker out to steal your money. A flamboyant salesman with no concept of failure. A seductive hairdresser. An intrepid drycleaner. A neglected wife. A pair of dumb mob thugs. A ripped-off customer. A brutal detective. A homeless derelict with clues to a mystery. A rival firm across the street. And many more...
#### Always Be Closing
![](https://cdn.akamai.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/1382390/extras/sit.gif?t=1606843762)
**The money is out there.** All you gotta do is reach out and grab it! How many leads can you pitch and sell? Can you bag the top leads? Will you take advantage of easy prey, or tackle deals with honor?
#### Play the Sleuth
![](https://cdn.akamai.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/1382390/extras/Puresky-night-mall-640.gif?t=1606843762)
**Do I have your attention?** Good. Because it's not just sales numbers that you need to keep your eye on. You need to keep your wits about you, because in an office full of backstabbers, anything can and will happen. Including the surreal!
Clearly you've been framed. But by who?
#### Solve Murder Mysteries
![](https://cdn.akamai.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/1382390/extras/DirtyLand-CrimeScene.gif?t=1606843762)
**In a desperate world you'll meet desperate people.** Dangerous people. People who will do anything to make rent. To not get fired. To make that promotion. To secure those juicy leads. From unsavory characters to hilarious charmers, they all have secret motives to uncover... you'll need to gather clues and piece together the truth to gain the upper hand in this double-crossing world!
_Everyone is a suspect! Especially you!_
And this murder won't be the only one...

I didn't quite know what to expect when I started the game. I am a sucker for pixel art point and click adventure games. This one is a nice gem of a find. There's some interesting plot threads, and a good level of interactivity with the various mechanics that do make it feel like there's more to puzzle solving than just dragging items over others to progress.
The voice acting is also a nice touch but it can be a bit spotty in places.
Overall, I'd highly recommend this game, especially at the price. I'm looking forward to more from the creator.
