Dead Seater

YES!! For the pricetag of free this game is amazing. Seriously, well done. I know a lot of things in this game were experimental and I commend the devs for that, because they’re at least trying something new. While the controls felt awkward, it was at least extremely unique. Kudos for that. Even if I end up not liking something it always makes me happy when devs try new things instead of sticking with what’s safe and normal.

This game is also absolutely terrifying. There is recorded proof of me screaming my lungs out, and the sounds design is excellent. The noises of the enemies haunts me. And the story is really REALLY cool. It’s so damn hard to beat; it is maybe one of the most challenging games I’ve ever played. Overall I really enjoyed it, even if it gave my dog ptsd.

very interesting level and mechanics design. it can be quite tense and excellently paces its scares. love all the tricks with the lights and the way It stutters around (especially in contrast to Them charging wildly). some of the limitations inherent to the conceit can be frustrating because they come from a technically cruder period of game design (twitchy tank controls, key hunts) but others are implemented very effectively (fixed camera angles, a solitary save room) and in any case I think retro games which exploit mechanical shortcomings with intention are interesting for doing so. always love to explore an old, creaky, cryptically haunted/terrorized mansion with a factory-adjoined basement, III locked boxes, and parental issues
