Well, that was 30 hours of weird. This game is so…odd that it’s really hard to parse my thoughts on it. It’s fun and the achievements were actually fun to 100% (and it’s one of the only games I’ve ever bothered doing that with), so I’d have to recommend it, but it’s also a bit buggy and stupidly hard so I’ll need to add some disclaimers.

At its core this is a fun “easy to learn, hard to master” management game, where you run a drug empire starting small and snowballing your way to a roller-coaster of an ending with a final level that was not fun, but was definitely an experience. The game eases you into the mechanics over the course of several levels, and there’s a lot of midlevel twists that can screw you over, but also add a lot of depth to the characters and some challenge. It punishes inefficiency, but rewards thinking ahead. The difficulty is over the top at first, but once you understand how to play the game it all falls into place. You’re always given the tools to solve your problems, if you manage your resources and employees correctly. What RNG does exist in this game usually falls in your favor by way of lucky loot drops from defeated enemies.

General Opinions about the game.

  • Opinions

The game is certainly interesting nothing like what I’ve played before. I will take a second to mention that i have played for 24 hours so i feel i know the game pretty well.

From what i have played and experience this is a snow ball of pain, along the lines it starts easy and ramps up in difficulty dramatically in a short amount of time due to there only

being 12 levels.

It has been an enjoyable experience but a grindy one, it should be said the later levels become stupidly hard to the point we’re you might be trying to beat levels over and over again slowly building frustration.

Booze Master

Booze Master

Tea, juice, cola, soy milk. Everything tastes better with a little booze on top.

I’m Jerry. I just got back from the joint and found my wonderful estate in tatters. My woman doesn’t love me anymore, my cousin is still a pain in the nation’s healthy body, and the neighbors are driving me crazy with their insect-like racket. I will fix up this village as good as new and become the richest man within a 10-mile radius. Now, you ask me, “How can I do this?” By turning everything I touch into alcohol.

KEY FEATURES

  • Develop a liquor resort. Become the owner of an ethyl spa.

  • Collect formulas. Dozens of moonshine recipes waiting to be implemented.

  • Fulfill hundreds of orders for liquors. From the indigent to the pretentious rich.

  • Grow your own plants. There are currently over a hundred of them in the game.

  • Explore forests and the wilderness. Collect mushrooms, wild fruits, and trash.

  • Support the local community. Money invested in the village means more opportunities.

It doesn’t matter if the glass is half empty or half full. There is always room for more %

Experienced booze gourmet? Amateur drinker? By trial and error, you will reach perfection (and a headache, probably). Learn from scratch to create the perfect liquor. Don’t forget that creating moonshine is illegal, so do your best to keep your production undercover.

What you drink is what you are. Better ingredients - better booze - better kick

You need plenty of stuff to create plenty of booze. When you have enough cash on you, there is nothing you can’t buy. Negotiate the best prices, buy more equipment and ingredients, and hire more people. But while you’re at it, be very careful not to arouse suspicion.

What you plant now you will harvest later

Your competitors are waiting for your mistakes, they will do everything in their power to make your life miserable, and they want nothing more than to eliminate you from the business using various devious tricks. Be prepared. Remember that as your home-brewing enjoys growing popularity, the police will start to sniff around, so stay alert. Don’t get caught. Hide, create deception. Avoid publicity.

The problem with the world is that everyone is a few drinks behind

Pack your moonshine into boxes, put them in the back of the truck, and drive off like mad as cops will try to take over your precious liquor. And remember, on Fridays customers' livers are just beginning their workweek.

Don’t get high on your own supply

Unfortunately, the better booze you create, the stronger effects it can have. Being loaded at work is not the best idea

“They say milk gives you strength. Drink three glasses and try moving a wall. You can’t. Drink three shots of my booze and it moves all by itself.”

Crown Champion: Legends of the Arena

Crown Champion: Legends of the Arena

I’m actually writing a review for a game before I complete it, that I actually plan to complete shortly. This is a first. This is mainly since this game feels very RNG based similarly to ‘I am Overburdened’ in that regard. But this game let me put it to it simply, this is my FOURTH playthrough to try and get to the end. There’s that much in the game to consider that you have to think of when you start the game. Since if you do some things wrong early game it screws you over for the rest of the game.

This game is beyond awesome. It has SO much potential. I didn’t think it would be my thing, because strategy games usually aren’t my cup of tea, but I thoroughly enjoyed Crown Champion: Legends of the Arena.

Though technically this is a management SIM, and this seems to be up my alley after all.

If the game were to be tweaked periodically it could grow into something bigger & better for sure!

There’s so much to say about Crown Champion I don’t even know where to start.

As the player you find yourself playing as a Slave Manager. With that comes an estate (in a decrepit state), which you buy & renovate & expand as you make a name for yourself - battle, after battle.

What a lovely game! It is beautifully designed and wonderful to play. For an early access game, I was pleasantly surprised at how easy the game flowed… no bugs at all… and I am looking forward for more content! Another great tool in the game is their hint system… they call it a “mesh” where it can help you locate where the pieces go… but it gives you three views of the mesh… None, level only, and the entire level. It would be very frustrating to play without it.

I played the entire game (at present with 6 levels) in just under 8 hours and easily made all 50 achievements. The music is very soothing and I especially love how after you have completed each puzzle that you can interact with it for even more effects!

If the names Duplo and Legos make your heart beat faster, this game is for you- that’s all you need to know.

More? Ok, fiiine.

  • There are six diorama scenes, ranging from the easy(er) Western with very little interior detail to the fairly complex Egyptian Pyramid or Chinese Pagoda.

  • At some points you will be almost pixel hunting to trigger the proper placement of the various bits and bobs.

  • Don’t assume the appearance of all pieces in the build list will necessarily match 100% with the item on the build area, some of them are little chameleons. Some of them are just little jerks and make you wish for a tiny virtual hammer that would allow you to crush them into virtual plastic paste.

Weed Shop 2

Weed Shop 2

Although I was disappointed to find the game was no longer available on the Play Store, I found an APK ;)

Now for Weed Shop 2: Basically the same as the previous generation, PC tuned graphics still aren’t mindblowing, but they’re decent enough and bearable. Updates are still rolling out; I have to say I’m quite impressed by the presentation of such a good game from a solo developer! Keep up the great work kid! Procedurally grown weed is fun to watch; knock out burglars, and vandals, and spice vendors harassing your customers, roll and smoke joints, blunts, bongs. Mingle with people on the beach by walking outside the shop! You can even adopt a cat*!

Shakedown: Hawaii

Shakedown: Hawaii

Shakedown: Hawaii is the follow-up to Retro City Rampage.

Retro City Rampage (aka RCR) in my mind, was a sleeper hit of an indie. So how did VBlank manage to follow it up?

The gameplay in Shakedown: Hawaii is nearly identical to that of RCR, and so nearly instantly I felt quite comfortable with the controls. Mechanically the game seems rock-solid, which isn’t always something games of this nature get right, so it’s worthy of praise.

Shakedown: Hawaii sort of tones down the parodic elements that Retro City Rampage was known for by a lot, and while that might sound like a good thing since a common critique of RCR was how it was far too “in-your-face” about parodying pop culture of the 80s and 90s, I’m not so sure the comedy Shakedown: Hawaii goes for really “hits” all that often. Most of the jokes seem to elicit rolling eyes, rather than laughs.

A kiddie version of GTA2 with some business management.

Nice, easy, colorfull, pleasantly funny, sympathic.

Probably its very easy to identify with the maincharacter since he still lives in the 90s and is confronted with the modern business life. So its a great game for guys who played GTA 1 or 2 when it came out.

Further its not that hard like GTA was. You can’t die, you can restart every mission, you can get health on every corner, cops are kinda brainless, no long searching for special cars to sell, no blood (I am missing that!)… so Millenials will also have their fun from a different view without any big skills, effort or heart attacks.

Landlord’s Super

Landlord’s Super

Fantastic little game that has absolutely nailed the 80’s feel. From the CRT screen effect, to the Ska theme tune. It’s like a comedic, more in-depth yet somehow simpler House Flipper. I’ve already played 5 hours and I only noticed the time because the missus was yelling “dinner time” to me. I expect to lose many, many more hours playing this. It truly is the quintessential construction simulator.

As to be expected with any early access title, there are bugs and glitches, but none of them detract from the fun. One particular time, I wasn’t sure if it’s a bug or a feature, but, when it started snowing, all the traffic stopped moving. Either fantastically fitting bug or tiny comic detail? I’m not sure, but also I don’t care.

Great game considering early access! It really captures a true feeling of being in northern 1980’s England, there is not much work and what is available pays barely anything. There is a lot of customisation etc. If you want a game where you can do whatever you want within reason then go and get this game.

What I would love to see added to the game:

  • More guided tutorials on how to do certain things, I am stuck on fixing the roof and I think this is a bug

  • A fish and chip shop added in as this is truly quite English and would be good to see some hunger stats too

I play steam game Coronation in the meantime while this game accumulates playerbase.

This game is very promising, lot of very relaxing things and well put, eg like, as I have not been ever hyped out so much with a game, maybe with onset prior it was released, but it did not fulfill my needs, this could be the real successful successor of the IdenityRPG

pros:

  • walking in a not so extremely huge city, but with many buildings, a part with the resident houses, a city center with skyscraper, abandoned small houses rural part

Real player with 105.8 hrs in game

Great game concept. However, the game needs some form of advertising in order to reach a wider audience. Currently, there is not enough content to keep an audience wanting to come back for more gameplay, as the gameplay can practically be summed up into these words, “Police against gangsters with money printers and guns.” Also, the police force does not even have a prison to send the criminals to, as their only form of detaining someone is to have the criminal WILLINGLY stand still and be cuffed in 5 seconds time by the police. Needs massive improvement and development before the full version should ever be even considered to be released.

(I will be updating this as I put more hours into the game. There are not any other reviews that go in depth about issues and wants for this game so I will do my best to help as I really enjoy this game and want the developers to have some idea of what we maybe want or are struggling with)

I really enjoy playing Weed County. It has a slow and fun start and has me eager to grind several hours until I’m satisfied. I am currently saving up to buy my first money laundering business to help me pay off my debt and raise my respect. I have 12 hours on this game and do not feel like I will be done with it any time soon.
