Fossil Corner

Fossil Corner

Decided to pay for this one as I spent countless hours on Overfull Games previous game, “Plant Daddy”.

I do not regret the money I spent! And I am kind of stingy, especially when it comes to entertainment.

If you like breeding, if you like paleontology, if you like puzzles, if you like decorating, if you like making pretty things! I recommend this game. Fun, intuitive, calm or fast paced depending on your own mood, work as slowly or quickly as you like.

Simple controls.

Few bugs, as it is early release, very minor, sometimes fun/funny!

Super relaxing, super satisfying, super adorable game about completing fossil puzzles and adding them to your ever-expanding fossil collection. It’s the fun kind of addictive!

Initially I was a little hesitant to try it, since in my experience random-generated content tends to be pretty samey, and I wasn’t sure if generated puzzles was something that could even be pulled off. I was pleasantly proved quite wrong, though - the puzzles usually aren’t major brainteasers, but they are enough to keep your attention, and at the end you get to add a new item to your collection to display, which gives the game this well-built, satisfying feedback loop; doing chill puzzles, earning money and fossils, spending money to decorate your room and put more of your cute little fossils on display. Something I especially like is how the game takes something that actual paleontologists do - sort fossils by minimum changes each generation to find their evolutionary paths - and turns it into a puzzle game! A few seemingly simple mechanics make for a surprisingly fun and engrossing game. I’m very excited to see the content updates the developer is adding soon, too. :

100 hidden mushrooms

100 hidden mushrooms

Reviewing the 100 Hidden Objects series, and this is the best one so far; by that I mean it has a good art style with the fine lines, and also is one of the harder ones to complete. Still won’t take you an ungodly amount of time, but it’s actually going to require some looking

The achievements all work, and look nice

I wouldn’t recommend it at a dollar, I got them all on sale for like $3 which was worth it. On top of this be warned this game is currently listed as Limited on profile features. Meaning it won’t count towards total achievements; however you can still collect all of them and can feature them individually later on

Release #9 in the “series” and, as always, love the graphics. I get them and play them the day they come out. Not the hardest of the series as there isn’t any interactivity… you just need to spot them, and it takes me a few scans before finding all 100. This time around, 1 eluded me for over 15 minutes, so I decided to take a break and return with a pair of fresh eyes. Lots of details in the drawing, and it’s interesting to look at all the details placed into it (like the caterpillar!), whether or not there are mushrooms there! This is replayable after a while and I already look forward to (hopefully!) its follow-up.

Koi Farm

Koi Farm

I really enjoy this game and the collecting Koi, its a very relaxing Koi breeding simulator but there are so much that can be made better. First is perhaps adding just a few more ponds so that we can oragnize the same types of Koi together else it just ends up being a huge mess of Koi swimming together and it can be hard to pick up a specific Koi you are looking for. Also, there are a few bugs here and there that causes the game to freeze sometimes but it will go away when you restart the game. Just hoping that these small bugs will be solved in future updates so that the gameplay is smoother.

This game is relaxing and slightly addicting at the same time. At its core it’s a ‘fill the book collection’ type of game, but there’s no pressure or time limit to do so. You start with a couple base fish colors and then after each book page is unlocked, the game requests slightly more and more complicated color varieties using some basic breeding techniques. There is a very simple tutorial, but otherwise it’s all experimentation (unless you look up a guide of course!)

The game itself is fairly basic and no frills, but for $3 I couldn’t ask for more. What it does have is quite well done. The sound effects of water/rain are soothing and graphics are pleasant to look at. This is one of those games you can just have idling on another screen because it’s actually quite nice to look at the fish swimming around and have the water sounds.

Quack Island

Quack Island

Quack Island is a single player first-person adventure game where you must break bread with feathered foes.

The Ducks have a ship - it’s the only way off the island. But the crew is all but gone, and the Captain needs your help to get them back. If you can set your differences aside - most notably that they are ducks, and you are not - you might just have a chance.

Set in a beautiful tropical paradise, Quack Island will have you traversing lush jungles, precarious mountains and stormy waters, all in the hopes of gathering the entirety of the Duck crew, and bringing them to their senses.

100 hidden birds 2

100 hidden birds 2

Fun little games but there are two birds that are virtually impossible to find without looking on line. One is the size of two beaks of the drawn birds that I just happened to click on in error and one is behind a girder and looks NOTHING like a bird.

By far the hardest of the hidden object games I’ve played, but in a good way. The birds are easy to identify but blend in really well. The art is great, as usual, and the music has that right mix of catchy but not distracting. By and large, a very strong entry in the field.

As usual, this was easy enough until the last few cats, and it took most of my time playing trying to find that last elusive feline. If you like object-finding puzzles like this, you need to get it so it can drive you up the wall with its cheerful boppy music, challenge you with the amazing graphics, and you can get sidetracked with the incredible imagination of the artist, and kick yourself when you do finally discover that last remaining cat, thats sitting just in front of your nose! 10/10.

Pros and Cons are written first. Overall review is posted below that.

~ SIDE NOTE ~ It is rare when I don’t suggest games, and is actually the first time I have disliked a game. ~

First things first, ONLY BUY THIS GAME ON SALE (when it’s literally only 86 cents - NOT worth it on full price)

pros:

  • cute game for cat lovers

  • some cats are actually kind of difficult to find

  • moving objects add for more difficulty in finding cats

cons:

  • there’s only one board / puzzle to play

  • puzzle doesn’t reset after completion (yes, u can reset achievements, but after that, its super easy to find all cats again… the board needs to regenerate at random for more fun)

100 hidden cups

100 hidden cups

He’s done it again! Anatoliy has put his mind to a fantasy picture and hidden cups, and they are much harder to find than your average snail or cat. Frustrating, challenging, and always entertaining, the artwork is brilliant and fantastic and the music boppy and cheerful, no matter how mad you feel trying to find those last few, though this time it’s the last 30 I can’t find instead of 2 or 3.

If you like a challenge, this one might be it, he reckons it is, and if you haven’t come across these games before, grab the series and work through them! As usual you can reset the score and there is a night mode. 10/10!

This one is a little rough. The art style slightly sucks. There are some well drawn parts but then when there is a more ambiguous area like gaseous clouds or jellyfish the lines are really rough.

On top of that cups sometimes do not really look like cups. A rectangle with a triangle for a cup does not really make a cup.

Still with all those issue it is still a fun fast play. Replay value in minimal but for the cost of the game you really cannot really go wrong.

100 hidden mice

100 hidden mice

One level game. My fourth game from this series. This one is a little easier than 100 hidden birds, 100 hidden snails and 100 hidden cats but has a bigger location. Difficulty 5.5/10. You need to find all 100 hidden mice. Got this game on a sale and I think it is worth its price. Finished the game in around 5 minutes. A reset button + a hint button would help to improve this game (at the moment if you want to reset the game you need to press esc+delete). All these being said I would give a 8.5/10 for this game.

Another entry in the “100 Hidden …something or other” series, and like the others I’ve played

! (not you 100 Gnomes!)

it’s a quick bit of fun well worth buying when on sale.

The 100 hidden whatevers games come with 100 achievements each,

which is definitely a plus reason to play them.

I wish the devs would add cards to these games

…but I realize I’m being greedy, especially as I buy them on sale only.

A definite 9/10 game.
