Pyramid Plunge
Pyramid Plunge is a game inspired from the classic spelunking platformers, adding a lot of humour for all ages bringing back the handcrafted pixel-art platforming of the 90s. You’ll explore creature-infested, ever-changing pyramids. Will you be able to dodge the devious traps & get past evil creatures lurking around every corner? Oh! And don’t leave your terrified partner behind!!
-
Play with lovable characters of Giorgio and Felicie, an unlikely couple each with their strengths and weaknesses.
-
Navigate your way through hordes of ancient evil creatures while exploring procedurally generated pyramids.
-
Craft weapons by decoding blueprints from murals and collecting scraps.
-
Collect lost treasures, and buy powerful upgrades and hilarious weapons from the friendly merchant Naeem (who is lost as much as you are!)
-
Explore alone or Co-op with a friend. Or battle it out in a VS match where you – create exquisite chaos with bananas, frying pans, landmines, boomerangs and anything that comes under your hand to steal your opponent’s loot. Just remember to protect your partner at all times!
-
Cross four ancient kingdoms with their own distinct environments and secrets to be uncovered as you make your way down to the exit.
-
Streamer Mode allows Twitch Streamers to let their audience to interact and cause even more havoc. Streamers can let them vote for level modifiers, events, and other surprises. They can ALSO control the Streamer’s partner or even the Bosses!
-
Rewind anytime during the game, and play it in slow-mo replicating those awesome VCRs of the 90s. Re-see the spontaneous hilarious moments that you create.
-
Compete in the daily Pyramid of the Day, where a randomly generated pyramid is kept for 24 hours, together with its leaderboard. Battle it out on the leaderboard, and if you are in the top-spot, you can claim your Pharaoh of the Day title on the game’s Discord !
-
The time is always ticking… if you lurk around for too long, the pyramid will start flooding. Who knew pyramids could flood!? Take what you can, and go go go!
Pyramid Plunge is currently scheduled for an Early Access release later this year, with a full release to follow 3-4 months after.
“What would you call a Pharaoh who farted infrequently?
You can call him toot-uncommon!”
That’s the best joke Giorgio came up with, to try calm Felicie down when they got lost in the Great Pyramid. Meet Giorgio and Felicie. She likes reading and visiting museums and old temples. He likes beer and farting! Their visit to the Great Pyramid was a DISASTER! They got separated from their group. And entered a cursed chamber by mistake where they woke up the Great Pharaoh! The pyramid suddenly became alive with crawling mummies and other creatures. Will they put their differences aside and find their way out?

Finished my first planet in about 10 hours after figuring everything out and exploring every nook and cranny. Love the game! The platforming/survival combo works great, the art is lovely, and there’s a great sense of exploration as you go deeper and deeper under the surface and the landscape changes around you. The procedural generation does a great job with the map, And I love PedeyP—his comments always make me laugh.
Can’t wait to try new planets—took a little peek already and found a lot of variation in looks/biomes/difficulty. Should be interesting!

Asteria
Game is fantastic!
I suppose the most relevant game for comparrison is Terrarria. Of course with that game and many countless games similar to this nothing really kept me playing more than a handful of minutes for one time. I realize that the openess is a draw for alot of folks but for me it’s just like what the point. It needs to offer and exceptional setting and fun mechanics to make me want to play a game not character and narritive driven like most games i play. This game does that exceptionaly.

Okay, so right off the bat, I really like this game. It’s fun and creative and I haven’t even tried multiplayer yet. The crafting is a blast and working for ever-better gear is very rewarding.
I have two major complaints, however.
One, the player is FAR too large for a game like this. It’s very annoying to get constantly hung up on various small bits of terrain that you missed, especialy when mining in caves.
Second, the game’s difficulty is very inconsistent. Usually, the enemies are little threat to you unless you’re heavily outnumbered or ambushed. The bosses, however, are mind-blowingly difficult. You come to really dread challenging the boss of the next dungeon (even though it might be a part of the design) because you know he’s gonna be a mean motherfucker and he is going to wipe the floor with you. The sometimes clunky jumping controls are currently giving me a damn nightmare on the third boss, which is where I’m currently stuck. If I can state some advice; you may laugh at the idea of energy refills when you first unlock them, but you’ll use every last one during a boss battle, and wish you had more. The huge hitbox of the player character doesn’t help at all, and the fact that spawned minions can sometimes carry over from previous boss attempts (sometimes with upgraded attack or defense) makes it extremely difficult to even get in range of the boss without being swarmed. It all feels rather cheap, in a sense.

Bean Stalker
Only a few hours in, but this is something special. Definitely a bit of learning curve, but once it starts to click it’s soooo cool and satisfying. I haven’t even gotten to crafting guns and stuff yet, I’m still having fun just whacking bugs with my stalk climber things to compulsively grab crafting items for later. The verticality and intense traversal make it an awesome experience. Also pretty well optimized. It’s one the few games that can run at 120-144hz on my machine. Look forward to seeing how it progresses, but it’s still worth jumping in now in my opinion!

Being quite honest, I don’t really know what’s out there in VR in terms of climbing simulation, and I never really tried one such games so I came into Bean Stalker with a mind somewhat void of expectations or bias - But knowing entirely well that a straight up simulation, this would not be!
Instead I’m proposed with an action game where you are climbing a giant bean stalk, plunder all manner of crafting materials, make yourself some tools and weapons, and murder a number of vicious critters on your way up including some bosses which are your primary enemy, the other one is the floor that sits far, far below.

Darkout
I can’t seem to think how to write this review properly right now, so I’ll just go with an easy pro-con list.
Pros:
-
The environments are quite pretty to look at and the lighting is nice (though the player character looks like a bad CGI creature from a 90’s music video)
-
Has a lot of nice variety in terms of stuff to craft, mine or place
-
Uhhhh… I really can’t think of any other points at the moment
Cons:
- The story in this game is forgettable and uninteresting.
– Real player with 157.4 hrs in game
There is quite a bit to say about Darkout. I’ll try to be as non-partisan as possible.
With the explosion of greenlight games and the large number of ‘Metroidvania’ sandbox style games on Steam, it’s hard to make one stand out from the rest. Darkout, like Terraria, or Starbound, takes yet another approach at these sandbox style games, but, of course, is still very much the same.
Indeed, Darkout is much the same old grind. Spending hour upon relentless hour, mining through piles of the same dirt, and rock, only to fill your inventory and discard, rinse and repeat. Just enough to get you the resources to build an elevator to reach the depths of the shaft you just dug. With the same old spotty mouse targeting as others, a horrible grouping system for mining, a terribly inaccurate crafting system, and a slew of other annoying bugs, it is tedious at best during these hours, searching for resources, and can often be a real chore, during these times, to play.

Making it Home
Pillbug interactive keeps improving with every new title. A very bizzare and unique game.
Great soundtrack and background watercolor art made by some talented people. Game contains a surprisingly mature story despite what the artstyle would suggest, but it’s skippable if it’s not your cup of tea.
The developers have been very nice and receptive to feedback during development. If the game looks interesting to you, and you want to shape the future of where it goes, I highly recommend joining in on early access and talking with them on discord. :D

Is it a platformer? Is it a sandbox? Is it an optimisation puzzle?
Yes! and it keeps growing and developing in ways I couldn’t have predicted.
Build your vessel, mario all over it to get coins, use coins to make a grander vessel, and all against the clock.
Depending on your style, maybe the vehicle operates itself, maybe it’s 100m tall, maybe it’s 100m long, maybe you can use your melee 20XX skillz to go even faster than automation allows?
