Occupy Mars: Prologue

Occupy Mars: Prologue

I think this game has a lot of potential. I love the realism. Also, the controls are very intuitive. They are different from some other games I play but Occupy Mars does it how it should be…left click basically does everything. What a novel concept! It’s the game I’ve been looking for! I look forward to the early access.

Sometimes the realism is too much, such as soldering every pin on a chip, but generally the realism in this game is what gives it an edge over other survival games. Maybe you should put the board in a chip repair machine and it takes a certain amount of time to repair. In the mean time, you have to live without the device that board belongs to… Just a thought.

Mars: War Logs

Mars: War Logs

TLDR

Mars: War Logs is one of those gems that lurks behind “A” titles, just waiting to shine. Very much like Mad Max or WoW in playability, tactics, NPC aggro proc, and utility of various game strategies, the GUI will be familiar to anyone who has played a 3rd person and the particulars are not complicated; you can also change keybinds for fine-tuning. The detailed plot can go in at least three different major directions near the end, and choices determine results on several questlines, but the first two chapters will be very similar/same for any given playthrough. First playthrough on"normal" difficulty was challenging to learn but not difficult, and my second on “difficult” wasn’t too bad

! (except for the Moles in 2 particular encounters)… but “Extreme” has me stumped. There must be a build order that I haven’t identified correctly… yet.

Single-player action RPG with 3rd person view, in the sci-fi setting. Very story-driven, which means NO for the open-world experience. But there is none good tale as well. Just a decent action part in a narrow tunnel of somewhat “noir” agenda. In truth, the game isn’t all bad, it’s just plain and mediocre. But I’m freaked out by how it is presenting itself there on Steam: “An Intense Cyberpunk Rpg On the Red Planet!” While it is really telling about humans on the fourth planet, it is as far from cyberpunk, like me from being a wealthy man. And “Intense” means it is very short and linear. Not a good point to present for decent “story-rich” RPG, you agree?

ABOUT THIS GAME

Occupy Mars is a highly technical, open-world sandbox game about Mars colonization inspired by the most promising technologies and companies that are working toward becoming a multi-planet species. Build and upgrade your base, discover new amazing regions, conduct mining operations, retrieve water, generate oxygen, grow crops, fix broken parts, and learn how to survive on Mars!

Have you ever dreamt about visiting Mars? We always do! There are so many things to see and discover on the red planet, so many exciting technologies to be created, and so many challenges to overcome! If humanity can do this, we can become a multi-planet civilization!

Build and upgrade your base. Make sure that there is enough water, oxygen, power, and food to survive.

Build greenhouses, oxygen tanks, fuel generators, connect all the pipes and cables, and remember about proper cable management. Grow your own food.

Fix broken parts using realistic electronic components and tools. Learn the basics soldering, using hot air, electronic measurement tools, and all the details necessary to fix your equipment.

Explore different regions of Mars while searching for valuable resources, discover mining sites, and find the best place to build a city.

Remember that you need to find a relatively leveled area with good access to underground water in a place where temperatures don’t drop too much during the night.

Experience an open-world sandbox game with a realistic day/night cycle and overcome real challenges that colonists face. Build solar arrays and batteries for energy storage, upgrade them, and find the optimal way to power your colony.

Upgrade your vehicles and equipment in your garage. Organize your workshop and modify your rover. Change crane hydraulics, operate the robotic arm, dig for valuable resources, build mining rigs, and more…

Occupying Mars is not always easy. Sometimes things will explode, break or not go exactly as planned. Learn to cope with “Rapid Unscheduled Disassembly.” Sometimes you have to really act quickly before you run out of air, food, or energy.

…but most importantly HAVE FUN on Mars!

Million on Mars: Space to Venture

Million on Mars: Space to Venture

Million on Mars feels great with its crafting and how hardcore it is.

The linking of the factories has to be my favorite part, it really lets you build complex structures and planning really has to go a long way.

The sound track is absolutely beautiful.

The terrain feels like I’m actually on mars

Obviously this game is in early access and a lot of work still needs to go into it.

Would love to see more progression systems but as early access goes I think it’s worth it!

This is still clearly early alpha, but the resources/recipe system definitely shows promise for being a physically accurate model for really building a human civilization on Mars!

Star Rangers™ XE

First I must disclose that I have been bug/beta testing this for about a year or so now.

Firstly when I first heard of this game as I am a fan of simulation games I was excited, secondly the young me was also excited as I had always had a fascination with space and everything to do with it also I do not know any one who did not want to be an astronaut.

The game is an as close as possible simulation of some of the things which NASA scientist have been developing and postulating for future missions to other planets.

I have one reccomendation, for the Mars tutorial level, I think it would be fitting to have the food and oxygen levels be set to unlimited, essentially meaning that it doesnt drain while your doing the tutorial mission, however, if the player wants to stay on the level and continue say building a base, then what the devs could possibly do is once the player has completed the tutorial, is have an option appear on the screen, asking them if they want to continue playing on the level, or if they want to leave the level. And if the player choses to remain on that level, at that point then have the food and oxygen levels be returned to normal, so that they will drain over time. Now if the player wants to remain on the level and say want to mess around, such as in a creative mode, then maybe if the devs want they can have another option come up after the player choses to stay on the level whether they want to keep the food and oxygen set to unlimited, or have it changed back to the normal “survival” setting.

MEMORIES OF MARS

MEMORIES OF MARS

Great game, with the potential to be an Awesome Game! I will not pretend to know how to program, so you will have to understand that I don’t know what is possible and impossible with my simple requests and wild suggestions.

Simple Requests & Wild Suggestions:

  1. No vehicles, I saw something about it for season 2, but I didn’t get here the end of season 3, so I don’t know what happened. An Unarmed Dune Buggy with storage space would be a good start. Thus making bridges even more important!?!

  2. Mass Transit Madness; A scuttler infested auto subway/train that travels above and below ground to and from the major areas. The combat in this moving train or in the subway stations would be awesome, be the 1st to do this, even if it has to be on a sequel, Memories of Mars Redux?

Update: I had to change my review to NOT RECOMMENDED. Because of the horrible PVP snow area which you cannot change to PVE even on your own private “PVE” server. This is just plain ridiculous. No PVE players like the snow area because it’s PVP even on a private “PVE” server, and there’s absolutely no way to change it. So I cannot recommend the game because of this. I am a PVE player. I have no interest at all in PVP games. The PVE mode even on your own personal private server is fake PVE. A bad trick from the developers. Once PVE players advance to the snow area, they are forced into PVP and end up hating the game.

Stationeers

Stationeers

Disclaimer: I’m nearing 1000 hours on this game. I’m a filthy addict, and the developers know it. I’ve just now finally gotten around to writing a review.

Stationeers is the culmination of everything I’ve ever wanted to see in a STEM video game, and it’s still just in its infancy. I have high hopes for its future and have complete trust in these developers that they will not disappoint.

Mathematics. Engineering. Chemistry. Physics. Biology. It all comes into play in one form or another. It’s problem solving and learning science at its best. IN SPACE. It even allows you to gain a better grasp on Celsius, Kelvin, and Pascal’s if these units were once foreign to you.

Last update: 18-3-2018

My EARLY ACCESS review of Stationeers after having played it for about 190 hours:

  • The game is changing constantly, so this review probably doesn’t apply anymore in a few months.

  • There are constant updates, not on a scheduled weekly basis like Space Engineers but the developers seem to be motivated and active both on the forums and otherwise. The updates I’ve seen so far contained lots of fixes and content, such as the Ground Penetrating Radar (ore scanner) and the Portable Solar Panel with the last two.
