Twilight Memoria

Twilight Memoria

I’ve always been a diehard fan of the RPG that carries the ATB system. Just mention it like Final Fantasy V, VI, VII, VIII, IX they are all my favorites! So when I saw a new RPG maker game that carried this system, I was very enthusiastic.

This might be my serious review considering that I really support the indie game climate of the JRPG genre.

1. Opening

The first time I played, I felt a stutter in the map scrolling section in the village; it made my head quite dizzy I don’t know why; is this my VGA error? I don’t understand, but I tried to hold it and play again.

JUST COMPLETED.

TL;DR 9/10 GAME.

This game is good but needs some fixing. Let me describe my playing experience below:

Twilight Memoria is an RPG game where you play as two children: Rucifar and Luna, in a fantasy world full of monsters. They play around their village and help other villagers with their monster-hunting and alchemy skills. They either hunt monsters, or craft items to use in battle or to aid them in their quests. It’s a heartwarming, everyday life type story where you are not in some big adventure or saving the world, but the game is still very challenging in the battle system and how you survive your quests. UPDATE: THE ENDING WILL STRIKE YOU IN UNEXPECTED WAYS. THIS IS GOOD.

Doom & Destiny Worlds

Was a huge fan of the first two games, so I was excited about diving into the world of Do&De again. Crafting games aren’t normally my favorite, but this one keeps things simple enough that I can manage (no hunger/thirst meters, THANK YOU), I’m also not a fan of item deterioration, but it makes sense with the crafting. so far I’ve explored 11 different islands. the puzzles are pretty straighforward so far, but the crafting really drags out progressing the story, especially when your weapons and armor break and you have to make new ones.

Doom & Destiny Worlds third part from the D&D series. In this part we will find a completely new approach to the game. First of all, an open world which is very large. Many of different islands with challenges and lot of strange monsters to defeat. Crafting is also new thing. You can create all your equipment. Lots of weird potions to kick up your nerds. Being able to build and destroy almost anything. Simply a wonderful adventure for hours. Just Gigawesome game! I also recommend the previous parts which are just as great as this one. I already have, and you?

Overall Rating:

7/10

Atelier Meruru is the third game of the Arland series. While the game brings back characters from the previous titles, Atelier Rorona and Atelier Totori, it presents side stories and cutscenes for fan service rather than developing the main storyline.

• While still simplistic, the addition of quality of life features brings a complete feel to the game. The organization features missing from Atelier Totori were reintroduced, bringing a cleaner process. Synthesizing requested items can be done on the request page.

OK lets start with the basic even if i not recomend totori, I suggest buy all arland games and after play totori enter the the best one of the first trilogy (the last is more newer…). Now this game fix a lot of totori problems in terms alchemy, more easy look for the item you want and no so weird events… in my blind run i got a lot of events. The time part is not so bad but get bad endings are hard too hard… actually platinum game without guide on second run seems hard, still cause game not have much problems you will had fun playing a third time even.

Atelier Rorona is the first game of the Arland series. It opens the Arland trilogy with a great story that could have been dark but lightens it with character and game designs. The game includes multiple endings depending on character interactions and story progression. It also includes characters from the second and third game, Atelier Totori and Atelier Meruru, into it’s post-game.

• Compared to other Atelier series, Atelier Rorona has a simplistic yet effective alchemy mechanism. The organization of the entire process brings addictive content streamlined for both new and veteran players.

Also known as Atelier Rorona Plus, this game is a remastered version of the original Atelier Rorona released way back in 2009.

The remaster improves on all aspects of the game in significant and tangible ways; the 3D models are touched up, the music is remixed, an events gallery is added to the main menu, side characters can now be recruited into your party and they come with flashy new abilities, and more!

Although the high-level gameplay loop is pretty stale (fight, gather, craft, repeat) for today’s standards, the game gets heavily carried by the pristine writing and solid characters. Each one of the side characters has a decent number of events that either showcase their unique character and personality, or see them grow and change through their interactions with Rorona.

Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book

Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book

What has distinguished the Atelier series over the years is Gust’s ability to create JRPGs that, beyond conventional mechanics of exploration and turn-based combat, still manage to convey to the player feelings of relaxation and placidity rather than frenzy and hunt for the battle. Of course, their games are still plagued by busy work, flat and impersonal side-quests and an amount of grinding that, especially in this Atelier Sophie, will absorb far more hours than one could afford to spend in the name of completism and fun.

TL;DR If you want an RPG with challenging combat dont buy this, the game is pretty easy even in the hardest difficulty, until you reach the last optional bosses, where its hard because the game doesnt tell you anything about what the bosses skills do or their effects nor about the traits you can use in your equipment

This is a good game, the textures of the environment range from pretty meh to good, but the character models are really pretty, some animations are kinda stiff though, the crafting system is a big part of the game and demands plenty of time, but its really well designed and fun.

Overall Rating:

7/10

Gameplay:

6.5/10

Atelier Totori is the second game of the Arland series. It brings a story that does well in character development. It also brings back characters from Atelier Rorona and brings a comedic relief to its story.

• Multiple quality of life aspects during alchemy found in Atelier Rorona are missing in Atelier Totori. Alchemy level during synthesis and component names are lacking. Additionally, the organization of components is subpar compared to Atelier Rorona.

Unless you’re really into JRPGs and you speak Japanese, you likely found this game on your steam recommendations and never would have imagined it’s part of a series with more entries then Call Of Duty and even most yearly sports games. This is the 12th of 25, not including 3 spin offs, with 26 on its way in a few months. And with the possible exception of Nelke and the Legendary Alchemists (which is rather polarizing, but which I love and have 100s of hours in) this is probably the most common answer your going to get for “worst game in the series”

Intro

Nemesis - RPG tells of a unique story. Instead of presenting you with a purpose at the beginning of the game, it tries to reveal its plot little by little until everything is connected. It allows you to create a party of 4 from 7 playable party members, where each has a different fighting style in battle.

Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk DX

Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk DX

This is my first JRPG game, though I did play Skyrim and MMORPGs in the past.

It’s also one of the very few games I played without a guide, no tips, no online references apart from the in-game manual.

I don’t have any knowledge of the mechanics of the game when I started.

I managed to complete the main storyline in 76 hours, or more like 70 if you discount the idling time.

Part of this long playtime could be attributed to me listening to all the spoken dialogues.

It actually took me a couple of hours before even entering my first battle.

Yeah.

After playing Sophie and falling in love with, i tried Ryza. And i really dont like the path the overall design was going. So, i tried to go back and play older atelier games. This is how i got into Ayesha.

To be honest, this game gives me somewhat mixed feelings. The setting is great, the companions and people you encounter in your path to become an alchemist are fine and overall presentation of the game, including the intro, videos, art and the OST are amazing.

Its kind of hard to put in words what the game does to not click for me. First, it all start with Ayesha. And to put in context, after finished Ayesha i am currently playing Rorona and they are somewhat the same, but Rorona is way more charming, cute and interesting. Theres a dialog in the beginning of the game in which two caracters talk about Rorona that says that being somewhat dumb and innocent is important to acomplish amazing things, this that only genius and dumbs are capable of. So, that clicks on me because its totally true. Normal people would look into a hard task or skill and think: “Nah… whatever. Doesnt worth the trouble.” while genius and dumb people will do it, for different reasons.

Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky DX

I literally waited years for this game. I am so glad that they ported it to pc.

As true as I’m standing here, Escha and Logy are by far the best main characters of the Atelier series!

Don’t be afraid of the time limit. It is pretty generous in my opinion. You can do everything without having to worry!

A pretty special thing in this particular game is that you can choose between two main characters. The only thing which changes if you choose one over the other, is the point of view you see the story from, some soundtracks and a few events)

Real player with 67.0 hrs in game

Regardless of how good or bad the game is, this port is too bad.

-Your system data gets randomly “deleted”. Essentially means, all your global progress, like unlocking costumes, filling the extra mode with images and so on, will NOT work on the long run. This is a critical and known error where I have no idea how this gets so completely ignored.

-Vsync is broken. If you tab out of fullscreen, the game goes max fps. If you are in fullscreen, the game struggles actually keeping constant fps and fluctuates between 58 and 62, leading to choppy gameplay. This does NOT happen in windowed, but..

Atelier Firis: The Alchemist and the Mysterious Journey / フィリスのアトリエ ~不思議な旅の錬金術士~

Atelier Firis: The Alchemist and the Mysterious Journey / フィリスのアトリエ ~不思議な旅の錬金術士~

A really terrible port, you have to have a high end PC or something to run this well. If you have a potato, then don’t get this game at all, unless you like playing under 20 FPS.

Beyond that, Atelier Firis is the 2nd installment to the Mysterious set, taking place after Ateleir Sophie.

Quite a lot has changed from Sophie, first and foremost the timelimit returns, it’s not as bad as it sounds, the timelimit is very generous, you should be able to do the goal before you run out of time, unless you muck about wayyyyyy too much. The fields or maps are way bigger and more open, no longer do you stay in one place to do all your synthesizing needs, you set up camps and well, go on a journey and explore new areas.

Real player with 468.6 hrs in game

Take everything you know and love about the Atelier games, and combine that with an open world over ten times the size of the previous games. The result is Atelier Firis, one of the most ambitious and largest Atelier games to date.

Atelier Firis is the 18th game in the long running Atelier series, and the second game in the Mysterious trilogy. Firis, an energetic girl, hopes to take and pass the alchemist’s license exam in order to fulfill her dream of traveling outside. Atelier Firis is by far the largest Atelier world in the entire series. In the previous installment, Atelier Sophie, the main character, Sophie, lives in Kirchen Bell. Sophie explores various fields around Kirchen Bell to harvest materials, and once she finishes gathering materials, she returns to her atelier back in Kirchen Bell. Now, in Atelier Firis, your atelier travels with you in the form of a tent! Gathering materials and exploring the world has never been easier.
