Lost Away

Lost Away

You are stranded, deep inside the wilderness of a mysterious planet. Use all of your tools, tech and skills to set a base camp, discover the planet’s previously undiscovered secrets and return to Earth alive.

Stay oxidized: On this planet, oxygen won’t be taken for granted. With little breathable air from the atmosphere, a lack of oxygen will remain a constant foe throughout your journey. Stay ahead, continue breathing and you will become the king of the jungle.

In order to survive, you will have to know your surroundings. Plan your route, use navigation points and discover the deep and gorgeous world around you.

Everything you find can prove useful if you are creative enough - combine, experiment, and master the skill of crafting.

Explore this alien world in the search of materials, use your newly crafted tools to build a mighty shelter, and increase your chances of surviving the night.

There’s more than one way to survive hunger. Make your way through the jungle, and hunt wild and strange animals, or stick to the flora, grow and harvest your very own alien fruit and vegetable from the ground below your feet.

Develop new manufacturing technologies, repair the badly damaged spaceship and return to Earth. Don’t be fooled though, you’re in for a long and arduous journey.

Use the sandbox experience just to have fun and play at your own pace. Focus on discovering secrets and ancient alien locations, or create a comfortable habitat and make yourself at home.

Finished my first planet in about 10 hours after figuring everything out and exploring every nook and cranny. Love the game! The platforming/survival combo works great, the art is lovely, and there’s a great sense of exploration as you go deeper and deeper under the surface and the landscape changes around you. The procedural generation does a great job with the map, And I love PedeyP—his comments always make me laugh.

Can’t wait to try new planets—took a little peek already and found a lot of variation in looks/biomes/difficulty. Should be interesting!

Dig to the Stars

Dig to the Stars

You can complete the game, i.e. get to the end of the story but there is a broken achievement - to bypass radiation levels without the Robot Radiation upgrade

! basically blindly obliterate the block (see Strafing Cubes below).

Dig to the Stars is … a thing that exists. The game is very rough around the edges, sometimes annoyingly so, you’d think it is a first game. The game offers barely any story and almost no explanation on how anything works which applies to controls as well as upgrades. Controls would feel almost intuitive if the game was a mobile game.

I was half enjoying cutting rocks up with a laser, then my progress was halted by an insurmountable, game-breaking design flaw.

There is no way to upgrade your robot to be able to mine radiated caverns without GOING BELOW THOSE CAVERNS.

So yeah, don’t buy this.

Also, the dev changed names to distance themselves from their other games but left the bundle of those games on their store? I don’t get it either.

Mech Mechanic Simulator

Mech Mechanic Simulator

I wish I could recommend this game but I just can’t in good conscience. It’s a fun and novel idea that I jumped into after discovering that my owning Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 (CMS from here on) gave me a small PlayWay loyalty discount, but it’s very much held back by some questionable design decisions and somewhat limited amount of content.

First, the Good

  • All of the mechs look decent (albeit small) and unique and have a surprising amount of detail in the components that can be detached. repaired, and reattached.

I could not start a new game at first. An integrity check on the files showed that half of the download was not good. Re Downloaded those files and now I am running all Ultra settings.

Short Version: This game could become an awesome Mech Mechanic Sim. Right now it is lacking. I will support the game and not return it because I can see that it may advance over time.

Details:

  1. It does not make me feel like a mechanic. It feels more like a search and find game or a memory game. When I have taken apart or assembled items I always lay the parts out so that I am sure on assembly that I have not missed anything. Part of feeling like I am progressing is that eventually I can dump the parts out and do a full assembly in 30 minutes without looking at a diagram. In Mech mechanic there is no way to get that feeling. When you disassemble you can see the part you need to get to thanks to the scan. To get there though you move your mouse around waiting on a part to turn green. Then you select that part and see if you can wiggle it off - no? well now you look for the screws or retaining part and remove that. now you wiggle the part off - rinse repeat. Seek and Find. After doing that to the same arm on the same mech you might could get that “muscle memory” built up over time but wait - Sometimes when you take it a part you unscrew the part but when you assemble it you have to select the part and it attaches itself automatically. That lack of consistency actually breaks the muscle memory and makes you feel like you are doing it wrong. All parts you unscrew on disassemble should have you screw it back on in assembly.

Engineer Alpha

Engineer Alpha

I hesitate to say ‘yes’ with this one, BUT, I think it has a lot to offer in the future. Getting started is rough, you’re thrown into what appears to be a near-desert world and left to fend for yourself. Intriguing, I know. Five hours and two restarts later I have - through trial and error -learned the very basics of getting started. There is no tutorials and no quick start guides (may try and start one). The game itself is rough around the edges, gooey in the middle, and the top might be a little burnt … Bakers reference :) but it has a concept of world building, planet exploration, and automation – Think Satisfactory + Minecraft + Most Mechanic Games – There is a lot to unfold on the potential lying around in this. There is survival aspects, building, automation, the works that can and a lot most likely will be done. I recommend this game based on it’s future development. I think the developer has an idea that has been on the minds of many players for a while now and it could easily take off.

This game has a lot of potential to be something epic. I really really hope the developers stick with it!

As for the game in its current state:

  • UI is very limited, kind of a press every key until something happens so you know what to do

  • Running the timbers to connect power is a little odd at first. Main concept; if you’re not going from one building to another, you must connect to a stand. (ie no free hanging timbers)

  • Starting grind is very heavy, no automation for parts needed to advance the tech tree, at least so far for me, I just unlocked copper.

CRASH EFFECTS Inc.

CRASH EFFECTS Inc.

Founded in 2012, Crash Effects Inc. has specialized in helping vehicle manufactures design and test the vehicles of tomorrow! Now it’s your turn to take the seat of a Vehicle Crash Test Engineer and design the safe rides of tomorrow!

Build It!

Build your design from the wheels up sparing no detail untouched in the design dome. Meet the specifications required by the manufacturer’s mission or build your own crazy creations. With no details left to spare, everything from the type of vehicle frame used to the paint color of the tailgate is up to you! With over 150+ vehicle parts and many more to come the possibilities are endless!

Stage It!

Prepare for impact! Well not just yet. As an official Crash Test Engineer you will need to set the stage for your momentous event. Configure the crash floor with a variety of cement barriers, blockades, barrels and a few other wacky items. Maneuver the 750 ton portable barrier into its final resting position. Aim the high speed cameras placed throughout the facility to ensure every angle of impact is captured. There’s even a tunnel that can be moved into one of five possible angles of attack!

Load Em Up!

In the vehicle bay, configure the vehicle selections for impact. Place five different types of crash test equipment on your crash test subjects. To buckle or not to buckle is up to you, with four unique crash test dummies. You choose when and where our friend “Steve” the dummy gets seated. You can even bring his whole family along for the ride too!

5.4.3.2.1!

Right then, Let it rip! Flip the switch to engage the cinematic stage lighting. Press the start button and send your creations hurtling down the crash test halls at speeds over 60 MPH or 100 KPH! Let the carnage unfold at your own pace: in slow motion or high speed. Watch as the glass breaks, metal crumples, airbags deploy, and vehicle parts fly!

Grab the Data!

Once the lights come back on, it’s time to collect the critical impact data. Use the Measurement Master M2000 to record changes to your creation’s shape after the crash. Download the onboard crash data from the Data Logger and Crash Test Dummies to determine if your occupants survived. Finally compile your results and see how your vehicle creation’s ratings match up. Only then, will you see whether or not you have what it takes to be a Crash Effects Inc. Crash Test Engineer!

Happy Crash Testing!
