Restaurant Empire II

Restaurant Empire II

I’ve played Restaurant Empire II off and on over many years (counting that the first game is included in II). When buying REII you get the full original RE game included.

The graphics are basic, the AI of customers and staff very limited, and the interface clunky in that you have to do a lot manually and one by one - for example you have to add recipes individually to the restaurant menu. But. I find it strangely compelling to try to get my chef up to 100% skill levels in as many recipes as possible, moving him between cuisines to round off his skills.

As a fan of the first Restaurant Empire game, at first I was disappointed with this one. A lot of the animations are the same, and this game adds coffee and dessert shops, so you have customers eating sandwiches and cookeis with forks and knives. Also, all the customers are talking on cell phones and using laptops now, which is annoying when you’re waiting for a chance to click on them. I actually quit the game for a long time because of these irritations.

However, I recently came back to it and I’m glad I did. It’s a lot of fun as a strategy game, and still fun just to tinker around with the restaurants and watch the chefs cook. The first game lacked female chefs, aside from Delia, but this time there are plenty of them, and that’s a welcome change too. The game isn’t very difficult, but it has some challenge to it, and it’s hard to find challenging strategy games these days.

I wanted to rush my review because I do think this game is really good, and it deserved a thumbs up to help! However, I wanted to return to this review to give it a proper analysis for people who are on the edge of purchasing this game;

1. The gameplay loop is very fun and simple. The core of the game consists of gathering/farming/buying materials in order to cook for the animals in the forest. You will unlock more ingredients as you go, and while this is a slow proccess (Ive been playing for 3 Days and -just- unlocked alchemy) it feels appropriate.

Garden Of Mooj

Garden Of Mooj

Garden of Mooj is a monster farmer simulator where you raise cute little slime monsters called Mooj. You find different types of food and feed them to your Mooj and it will train their stats in different ways. Every night even scarier monsters come to try and destroy your Mooj statue and you must defend yourself using the Mooj you have raised. Once you train your Mooj, their abilities can unlock gates to allow you passage into new areas, as you make your way across the world trying to save it from a mysterious enemy. Mooj is fairly similar to games like Slime Rancher and the Chao Garden from Sonic Adventure, and was a lot of fun. The game also has a really decent jazz/easy listening soundtrack.

Real player with 19.6 hrs in game

I find this game strangely addicting and loads of fun despite how simple it is.

Its a good game for just not worrying and getting a good chuckle and you can make your mooj fairly different.

Pros:

Relaxing

Silly and cute

Addicting

Cons:

it can be a bit buggy

its not entirely clear on what to do

could still use more to do(personal bias)

STORY OF SEASONS: Pioneers of Olive Town

STORY OF SEASONS: Pioneers of Olive Town

I will say this~ As a die-hard HM weeb

With only 40hrs put into this game and only on “Autumn” Xseed has done a fine job with keeping the Harvest Moon franchise alive and ongoing. I love that they keep some of the same elements from the earlier games.

Pros: The graphics are beautiful and the characters are way better than Xseeds “SOS” where everyone looks the same. You have more personality with these new characters and they’re all so bubbly and cheerful and have their own unique dialogues. I do hope in the future that MORE Harvest Moon games will be coming out on the pc as I lack a newer Switch. Thanks for catering to the PC master race Xseed. Natsume has lost me in its very weak and un-immersive graphics. The animals are adorable everything about this game is amazingly fun and there’s so much to do the repetitiveness does not get “boring” or “old” It feels fresh every time you do something even if it is the same thing over and over again. All the villagers literally like everything so finding an item to give them daily is not hard. You even have CUSTOMIZATION to your main character. This is by far the best I have seen and ever played from Harvest moon when it comes to that. The outfits are so pretty too and don’t even get me started with the animations when farming. They’re on the peak.

Real player with 130.3 hrs in game

As much as it pains me, this is probably the first Story of Seasons title that I have to honestly say I cannot recommend.

There are some cute things about it, and some of the heart of the series is there, buried way way down in there, but honestly this feels like Story of Seasons is trying too hard to take My Time at Portia elements and falling so flat on it’s face that it tumbles right over a cliff.

First and foremost the balancing in the game is atrocious. Day 2 of Winter Year 1 and I had already beat the town development “main” story. Winter 23 of Year 1 and I was married to the bachelor of my choice. The only major story milestone left for me is to have the kid (which I have read ahead is an adoption thing regardless of hetero marriage status or not and that moderately irks me). After that it’s just little completionism, which at the rate I smashed through them in year 1 I don’t expect will take longer than the last Year 3 achievement.

SunnySide

SunnySide

You’ve purchased your first plot of land in an aging post town in the heart of the Japanese countryside. Now, it’s up to you to create a homestead to be proud of. Cultivate the land, nurture your budding crops, and care for your animals. Use technology to keep in touch with new friends, access online shopping, and store your favorite farm fresh recipes.

Spend time getting to know the residents of SunnySide - old and new - all while balancing your newfound farm life. Don’t forget to take pause and enjoy the wonders of the Japanese landscape whilst discovering more about yourself and the world around you.

Modernize your farming experience with new technology that brings the classic, farming sim genre to the 21st century. Build solar panels, electric water pumps, contemporary machines for food production, and continuously upgrade your tech to improve your farming experience.

In SunnySide, we want you to enjoy all aspects of farming, especially in growing your own food. With modern technology, you can worry less about tedious daily tasks and more on living a life of balance.

With a focus on individuality, you will be provided with unique opportunities that allow for creative freedom and self-expression. Your avatar, homestead, and even your in-game cell phone can all be tailored to your preferences and desires. Customize buildings, layouts, decorations, clothing, hair, and more on your journey of self- discovery.

A proper homestead is self-sufficient, and your home in SunnySide is no different. Learn to collect your own water, generate power, grow and craft various food items, and cultivate your land to help support the local economy.

When SunnySide fully releases, you’ll be able to ferment your own soy sauce, slice tofu, grow and grind flour at the local mill, and craft artisan cheeses. The real magic of food, however, is what happens in the kitchen. Take produce a step further by cooking a wide variety of dishes in a kitchen you’ll be able to design and upgrade yourself. Nothing satisfies hunger like a home cooked meal after a long day’s work.

While a quiet life in the countryside is nice, life in SunnySide isn’t perfect. The locals have distinct personalities, stories, and issues which - through your decisions - can be uncovered. SunnySide has spent the last decade on a steady decline, but perhaps you’ll be the one to breathe new life into this desolate town.

Form bonds, join groups, attend events, and maybe even find someone special to share your days with.

Disclaimer: This game does not contain watering cans, shipping containers, incessant gifting, mayonnaise machines, and endless walking.

Be Hero

Be Hero

Very chill and fun game, you can spend hours in it without realising. If you enjoy farming and relaxing games like Stardew Valley, Graveryard Keeper or Harvest Moon, you’ll love this one. Soundtrack is really good and envolving, the art is absolutey CUTE :3 plus the dialogues and sceneries are full of funny references.

It’s still in early access so keep in mind that there’s a lot more content to come! The developers are always uploading bug fixes and new paches and they are also very communicative with the community, they take into consideration a lot of suggestion of the players.
