Flying Tigers: Shadows Over China
I should say, I have not been playing flight simulators that much previously, but if you’re heading to start, then FLYING TIGERS: SHADOWS OVER THE CHINA is right for you.
Game of the genre will appreciate both amateurs and beginners, and now I’ll tell you why:
- Soundtrack. After the game was launched, the first thing I noticed was a soundtrack in the main menu. Without a minor doubt, it was amazing. I enjoyed it while setting the game up. Music in the game itself is quite dynamic and non-irritating as well.

Ok, played it through. I wanted a casual dogfight arcade game, and that’s what I got (so I played with arcade controles obviously). Controling with the mouse feels good, the plane is responsive, it’s not a pain to aim and shoot as it can be in so many other games. There’s a bullet-time unciton, I must be dumb, I never managed to use it, but to be honest I never needed it.
The visuals are good enough, the sounds are convincing, the voices are convincing too. The music is half-half, some great score, and some that, while nice, don’t really fit the atmosphere, I find, but it’s nitpicking.

Medal of Honor: Airborne
A timeless WWII classic that is a must-play for any WWII gamer who wants a good ‘ol fashioned shooter with a unique first person cover system and great gameplay.
One note before you buy this game is you may get a “video card not supported issue”. I believe this was fixed because on my new PC I got a popup to set up game settings, similar to Rust and The Forest, and I’ve had no issues, but I can’t 100% confirm you won’t get this issue. If you do get it there is a few simple fixes relating to your .exe and setting up custom launch options and it’s just a simple google search.

As far as single-player campaigns go, this is my favorite Medal of Honor game out of the half-dozen or so that I’ve had experience with (finished the 2 PSX games and Allied Assault on the PC, and played some of Pacific Assault and the 2010 reboot).
My reasons for enjoying Airborne so much aren’t because of anything particularly special about it. It looks decent for a 15-year old game, the maps are well-designed, and the guns are fun to shoot. But it’s more because most of the annoying crap which is so common in FPS games of the late 2000s is mercifully missing from this one. Some examples:

Winter Fury: The Longest Road
Just tried out the sniper rifle on 2nd level. Very cool mechanic. I would like a mission like the movie “Enemy At The Gates” where you would need to take out an elite German sniper using only your sniper rifle. Wide variety of historical weapons to try out. I found myself doing a lot of the dirty work with my Thompson? machine gun. If you are one of those people with a strong dislike of Nazis this game should be a good fit. Recommend.

I normally dont like arcade shooters, but this game is awesome!
Except the sniper rifle. Why the hell does the sniper scope work like in Fallout 4, when you have a working scope system on the 3D model itself? I tried to hold the rifle away enough to be able to snipe with the rifles 3D model scope and I just couldnt shoot anything because the scope was way too far from my face. Please, PLEASE make it at least a setting to allow people to disable the horrible Fallout 4 scope!

Call of Duty® 2
[UPDATED Feb 14th, 2021]
Pros:
-
Pure CLASSIC and tons of nostalgia elements.
-
Several missions for each allied factions.
-
Intense combat fighting and atmosphere (overall).
-
Well arranging maps and environment.
-
Great soundtracks.
-
So many custom maps, skins and overhaul mods from the internet.
Cons:
-
Old game mechanics: You can’t even sprint, throw back, and cook a grenade.
-
AIs are pretty much useless, their movements are somehow look ‘cartoony’, and friendly AIs are way TOO FEW in some missions.

Couldn’t decide what campaign was better
The russian campaign was incredible, the fighting in the streets, your comrads
fighting alongside you, it was amazing.
The british campaign had amazing story, fighting alongside captain price and private
macgregor, getting stuck in shitty situations with both of them like “armored car escape”
Rushing the nazis in a tank alongside other crusader tanks
The american campaign had exhilerating cinema and dialogue, like when you run off
the carrier and it explodes behind you, leaving you on the ground watching men burning and

Fog Of War - Free Edition
Fog of war has an interesting battlefield type of view for the free play player to enjoy.
it has a variety of vehicles and weapons for a player to chose between the red army and the german army.
it has some potential to become a great steam game but as it stands right now I cannot recommend this game to a user if they are looking for a game to invest alot of time into.
the game suffers from the following below.
No true how-to-play:
players who jion this game are force to learn the controls on the fly while in battle this is very unpopular with new players who often rage quit due to not being able to do simple things like throwing a grenade or looking down the sights of a gun, switching ammo types in a tank .etc

–second review–
Clearly this game is offering some more now that the kids left for new games and you can now play with occasional players on a free to play fps.
Cleary the game development is still dead since the first days, but at least this game still give some fun.
City maps in this game are what games like heroes&generals and other free to plays should have been. True city combat scenarios, where it’s no more ranging and camouflage on a 2d plain terrain, but in a 3d environment, where a sniper could come out of a terrace from a 5th floor of a 7 storeys building while you are running on the streets.

Sniper Elite
DIsclaimer: This is gonna be a fairly long review, so anyone who’s not interested in reading a wall of text can just skip it
Another game I got into fairly recently because I thought the premise of being a sniper and having realistic ballistics in a game would be an interesting twist in comparison with most games I’ve played in my life. Now, I’ve put 44 hours so far into this game and I’ve seen all of its good and bad sides. I will recommend it, but I’m also gonna mention some fatal flaws that are plaguing this game.

i completed sniper elite 1 after playing other games in the series, and lets just say, it was definitely a product of its time.
graphics were super dated and the map design was weirdly open, but the bullet physics and kill cams were amazing for a game that old, and i think thats why the franchise took off.
Sniper elite v2 is technically a reboot of sniper elite 1, in the same way that red dead redemption is a reboot of red dead revolver. in sniper elite 1, the main character karl looks a lot younger, wears an army cap and a camo outfit, and is never actually referred to as karl, everyone just calls him “Eagle Watch”. he doesnt have his raspy deep voice like in all the other games. instead, he sounds like he’s only 20 years old and he’s really soft spoken.

Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway™

Pros:
-
Great storytelling and really interesting characters.
-
Many examples of how horrifying the war is.
-
Excellent Holland landscape, structures, and environments.
-
Great soundtracks.
-
Although the commanding functions are quite complicated, but you can modify them in the option menu.
-
Historical info from the recon reports.
-
PFC. Jasper, possibly the most useful person among the entire Baker’s squad.
! Baker’s hallucination and flashbacks.
Cons:
- Somehow unreliable friendly AIs, and sometimes they behave weirdly during cutscene sequences.

WarBirds - World War II Combat Aviation
Ive played the older versions of this game for a long time and loved those. the new 2016 version runs very smoothly and it is a refreshing updated game! the online play against other real pilots is a fun and exciting experience, especially the coordinated events that have large numbers of people sometimes upwards of 200 people flying missions at one time. i reccomend this game to any avid WWII flying buffs that enjoy a realistic take on WWII dogfighting.

As one who has played this game on and off for close to 20 years, this is THE classic WW2 online flight sim. If you want realistic flight models, an opportunity to fly in historical events run by the community and supported by the publisher, and a mature community, then this is for you.
Most of the negative reviews will be for the graphics and to an extent the difficulty of the flight models. It takes a little time to learn how to fly effectively, but the payoff is that you are getting as close as it gets to what it might feel like to have flown one of these planes into action in WWII. Great community of people, good trainers, and most of the all, the weekly S3 series is immersive and REAL. Want to experience what it was like to escort B17’s deep into Germany against the Luftwaffe, where you are constantly looking over your shoulder wonder if those dots on your high 6 are 190’s? This is it! The rush of making a clean kill in these series is as good as it gets!

Scramble: Battle of Britain
Scramble: Battle of Britain is a simultaneous turn-based dogfighting game. Set in a 3D airspace, the game features fast-paced, tactical combat with dynamic flight physics.
Luftwaffe and RAF fighter squadrons go head to head over The English Channel. Competing players simultaneously issue control inputs for multiple aircraft while time is paused.
The planned orders are then played out simultaneously: shots are fired, loops are looped, colliding planes collide.
Each turn is divided into three phases: planning phase, action phase, and review phase.
Survey the aerial battlefield, plan your flight paths, execute spectacular manoeuvres, scrub through time to assess battle damage, and defeat your enemies through masterful tactics and captivating aerobatics.
PLAN YOUR FLIGHT PATH
The two squadrons simultaneously set input controls for each of their Aircraft, adjusting their flight path and attempting to bring them into attacking positions. Setting the flightpaths works like flying planes in a real-time combat game: you’re not choosing from set manoeuvres or levels of altitude, you’re adjusting pitch, roll, yaw and throttle to create your path.
The Planning Phase is time-limited: you need to think fast and act quickly.
EXECUTE YOUR ACTIONS
Time is unpaused and your planned actions are played out. All aircraft move and shoot according to the inputs from the Planning Phase.
REVIEW THE TURN AND PREPARE FOR THE NEXT ONE
Time is paused once again. You can move back and forth through the timeline, reviewing the events of the Action Phase to plan for the next turn.
Once both squadrons are ready, the turn is over and you jump to the next one.
MANAGE YOUR SQUADRON
Scramble: Battle of Britain allows you to manage your Royal Air Force and Luftwaffe squadrons and to fly with your favourite planes. All the key aircraft that took part in the Battle of Britain are represented.
Featured Royal Air Force Aircraft:
-
Supermarine Spitfire

World of Warplanes
When I first looked at this game when it came out it didnt capture my imagination but I downloaded it as it came to Steam and wow, Im just loving it. So there are a few bots in every game so what, thats better than having a bunch of school boys who cant strategize nor understand team work on your side, besides - I play armoured warfare and worl of warships against AI preferable most of the time anyway. Give it a bash, the game is captivating and awesome and the level up is dynamic and balanced in my opinion. Dont compare it to War Thunder, they are not comparable games, if you prefer a simulation, go for WT but there are times I just want a good honest shoot em up where I can form a flight with mates and enjoy a solid battle with great graphics and a fun play style with lots motivation to keep going because the tiers represent desirable advancement. Great Game. BUT DONT BUY - Seeing tta I loved it, I spent money on it and then discovered the unruly & whimful actions in the management of this game by devs who are putting absolutely no thought into it. There are just so many issues that will really drive you carzy with the game after you are used to it, I have to hit a thumbs down. If you really like it and still want to play, go for it but PLEEEZE F2P with this one, they do not deserve to earn from this unitll they become a bit more responsive to genuine issues and unitll they sort out systems that pertain to ingame purchases.

While the core mechanics aren’t terrible, WarGaming has a bad reputation as a developer for a reason. They’re highly focused on forcing you to follow their exact method of gameplay, and will punish you for deviating in the slightest.
Pros:
– The matches are pretty quick, so if you only have a few minutes here and there, you can still participate fully in most of the game. Good for people with real world schedules and casual gamers.
– Not as grindy as other WG products. You get rewards fairly frequently. Weekly chests and reasonably frequent events mean that you can get Premium status, gold, premium planes, and other rewards without having to sell your soul to the game.
