Merchant of the Skies

Merchant of the Skies

First of all, let me say that this game is a great-looking interesting bite-sized experience. If you are looking for TTD in clouds, this is not that game. It’s a “tycoon” in a very shallow sense of the word. In fact, it’s incredibly hard to describe this game with nowadays expectations other than a “trading game”.

It will not have you coming back to replay again and again, but it will captivate you for a session or two. It’s like a great meal at that new place you are trying out. You wouldn’t necessarily keep ordering it again, but you do not regret the experience. I bring up a lot of mixed points below, but keep in mind that it’s all still held together impressively solidly and does not break apart.

A niche merchant game with the challenges of completing tasks and finishing five ultimate goals to complete the game. The story is about a you, a merchant who follows requests from an uncle and various other characters, using a airship. Different to the usual games I regularly play, but I love it for the fantasy elements and challenges.

The story is odd in a way where it has five main goals, the last one is the restoration of the botanical garden, while the rest are more like side-quests in this adventure world. How you adventure is by flying an airship across to floating islands, you examine the different tasks, refuel, and can buy or sell items. I really like this due to my obsession with steampunk themes, the fantasy world which is floating while working, as though it is a job. Additionally, you get to know the world a little, like the uncle and a couple of characters that want to go to tourist places, but not as in depth in the case of getting to know your crew. It is a single player game, but it is how you want to play, making profit and buying islands in order to fulfil requests and keep your business a float. As for the art, I love it, pixel art can be simple but make so much detail, and with that sort of colour palate, it is up my street. The little wacky details like the singing carrot, the octopus that has a rapper hat on, all of it adds to the personality of the game. You can upgrade your ship too, making it easier to travel and transport cargo, which is helpful to complete more side-quests to bring in the profit. If you cannot gain profit because of your output on workers and fuel, then the bank will pay you off once, then you are in dept, you will need to pay off the bank or go bankrupt. An interesting way of teaching people about the real world and dept, but it forces you to do some unplanned action by juggling the main story to side-quests, making it challenging.

PowBall Renaissance

PowBall Renaissance

Welcome to PowBall Renaissance

This isn’t your classic Breakout game or Arkanoid, however, given that is has open endless possibilities of making your own levels, refusing to purchase upgraded ammunition for your weaponry and adjusting levels to that, you can pretty much play this game in any form or shape you want. Classic, Retro, Modern, or PowBall style.

Make no mistake this game comes with over 300+ levels, including those from PowBall Deluxe, the original game for DOS/Windows.

Good news, game runs perfectly smooth, higher resolution support, and even 4K if you are into that. Level Editor that lets you comprise your own set of master levels with gimmicks of your choice using what the game engine has provided. Perhaps the game may require a Workshop functionality so players can share their own level sets for others to play as a bonus (that is entirely up to steam if I am not mistaken).

Another clone of arkanoid, but the one which tries a new approach to the genre rather than copying its sucess.

I played the original way back since its original release in 1996 and loved it right away, because it innovated the concept. And this remake is brilliant. Also, it is quite stable since it runs very well on my Toshiba laptop and hasn’t crashed not even once.

Even though I prefer the original, do not miss the chance to try this version. It is simply something you need to try before dismissing it as another Arkanoid rip-off. The concept is the same, the gameplay, is quite different. Go take a ride with it.

NBA 2K22

NBA 2K22

I have failed and once again contributed to the annual money bucket scrap pile that is the NBA 2K series. The last 2K I purchased was 2K19, and for years I purchased the brand new 2K. I purchased every new 2K from 2K14 through 2K19 and did have plentiful fun with friends. However, with my friends having moved away from this game like so many others, I find it more infuriating than normal. It is the same game it was in 2K15 as not much has changed…

Here I will lay out a few things which are IDENTICAL to previous 2K titles, or essentially the things that matter…

1. Not next gen, even though pc graphics way better then console

2. Same game as last year, literally, same game

3. Poorest flow of movement in sports game today

4.Fouls are worse this year then any previous year, funny that NBA changed the ruling on fouls but 2k22 must not have gotten the memo

5.They said they improved defense, false, they made offense actually worse

6.Still have done nothing about the cheaters in the game, seriously someone made it to level 40 in a hour that a new season has been released?

15 hours worth of exactly what I wanted, I’ve maxed everything out, looking forward to full release! I paid 5$ for this, and easily would have paid 15 - 20$ for the alpha.

Not sure if a developer has ever read one of my reviews before but, things I would like to see in the future for A.G (also my initials, because were dope) are :

Relationship status with villagers - Increasing this would broaden the villagers desires and spending leeway. The amount you overcharge on an item would be in the formula for decreasing their relationship points. Levels of acquaintance could be titled. Pop up messages from villagers to convey appreciation or anger. “Damnit! I can never rely on you!” This may even end up influencing his battle outcomes.

I bought and played this game for about 5 hours on Alpha 2 until they updated it the next day with Alpha 3, and there were so many changes that it feels like a whole different game. The Alpha 2 version was fun if a little simple, but the update has made the game so much better in a lot of ways. It was like the developer could read my mind, they added pretty much everything I wanted to see in this game.

Overall, the game is a lot more fun and a little more challenging than it was before. If you enjoy collecting/harvesting items and crafting with them at a casual pace, then this could be a fun game for you.

I can’t get enough of it, great game

Ant simulator is more than just a game. It explores what it means to be human… ironically by being an ant. It takes the monotony of day to day life and encompasses it into the simplicity of what it means to be a simple creature. Were all much like this ant, following this shit log tree to fantasy destinations until the end and the whole time you’re asking yourself; whats the point? the point is to keep going! experience and live! Be an ant! That’s what ant simulator means to me. Its really an art form and i recommend that if youre here reading this review you should play.

Bless Unleashed

Bless Unleashed

~~After 700+ hours of the game, I can’t really recommend Bless Unleashed in the current stage that I am playing it.

Update: New update was almost good, sadly they still know how to fuck things up.~~

Now that I’m quitting the game, I will give this game a full review with information before I leave.

This game HAD potential.

I started playing the game when it was release for three days, and that week was the time I enjoyed it most. I didn’t know anything much, just continue my main quests and side quests as a Crusader class. The combat system was interesting the first time I played, and I kept enjoying on and on until the main quest end. This is the time where you’ll start seeing the whole picture of the game.

At the time writing this, I have played 55 hours and have just completed the game up to Kannus Valley. I started 1 week after release which means I started August 13th. I have no prior experience nor knowledge of Round 8, Neowiz, or even the past iterations of Bless Online except for the fact that it looked like a tab-targeting type of game and that it performed(both in optimization/FPS and reception) very poorly. This will be an unbiased review. However, 2 days after I started playing, I had fun enough to warrant a purchase of the $35.99 Exalted Founder’s Package. Take this into consideration although it doesn’t really affect how I view the game.
